4.3 5-man Dungeon Drops
2011/10/05 at 4:22 PM
We managed to get the loot tables for the 5-mans (prettied up by resident volunteer Neutronimity, thanks!)--this is probably a lot more helpful than our datamined list of items as these show what will drop from where and what stats you can start looking forward to picking up.
A quick rundown of the items: they're ilevel 378 and surprisingly solid stats. The trinkets were taken from Bastion of Twilight and Blackwing Descent in procs and on uses, making them equally solid; whose death knight alt wouldn't want to nab a ?
As a side note, there are also unique dungeon sets for these 5-mans. While they do not have set bonuses, they do have a noticeable style which

So before I get onto the cool stuff, a quick congratulations to the five
Diablo III beta winners
aceofangel, Jarrho, Arawethion, Rainemard,
! You'll have an email sometime this week about your keys.
Anyway, today was another PTR patch so Perculia and I checked it out after our raids tonight--and came up with some interesting stuff, not least of all, a whole lot of screenshots of another 5-man. We also discovered that the dungeon journal entries for Dragon Soul changed, in particular, Warmaster Blackthorn got a new entry which we have included at the bottom of this post.
Hour of Twilight 5-Man Preview
The final stage in this series of dungeons is set in the present-day Dragonblight, now under a full invasion by the Twilight's Hammer. Players must escort Thrall and the Dragon Soul safely to Wyrmrest Temple, where the assault on Deathwing is to commence. But the Twilight's Hammer forces are numerous, and their leadership remains strong. Those attacking the temple are commanded by a man known v
4.3 PTR Coverage Roundup
2011/10/02 at 9:51 AM
It's been a busy week on the PTR for myself and Ashelia. Every day, we find dozens of new things to write about, turning our observations into epicly-long posts. Since there are so many new things, I've provided a roundup of our 4.3 PTR coverage so far--with all the information, perhaps you missed reading something the first time around!
4.3 Preliminary Guide: 3d Models, Items, Holiday Changes, and More
very first overview to 4.3
, we went through the initial 1600 datamined items to make sense of it all. Among other things, we found numerous new mounts and pets, items that hinted at changes to holidays like
Helm of the Fire Festival
, new profession recipes, and many items related to the revamped Darkmoon Faire. We also listed numerous 3d models of NPCs, models, and weapons--as well as making a video of some of the new mount animations. Finally, we listed some of the radical class changes in 4.3, placing them next to Ghostcrawler's quotes on balance for an explanation.
Raid Finder Coming in Patch 4.3

alt="Raid Finder Coming in Patch 4.3" src="
/>
We are working hard to introduce an exciting new feature to World of Warcraft in patch 4.3: the Raid Finder system. While it presents unprecedented technical hurdles and may change before it’s released, we wanted to provide you with an early look at what we hope to accomplish, and share some details that we’ve worked out, which will lend some insight as to how the new feature is planned to work.
So what is the Raid Finder? It will be a brand new grouping feature that superficially works much like the Dungeon Finder. Instead of five-player dungeons, the Raid Finder is designed to help players quickly and easily form a pick-up raid for a specially tuned version of the current tier of raid content: the Dragon Soul raid. It’s not intended to replace organized raiding though. You’ll still need friends and guild members to help you conquer the toughest raiding challenges that patch 4.3 has to offer.<b
4.3 Preview: End Time 5-man Coverage, Dungeon Set 3d Models, Dungeon Journal Entries, and More

Today's been a long day. Like, a really long day.
But I enlisted the help of Perculia and my guildmates; together we tackled the first 5-man End Time (the other two weren't open) for screenshots and videos. We've
also got their drops from the client uploaded on our PTR site
; modelviewer sets of all the new dungeon sets which all match each other, even if they don't have set bonuses; and the dungeon journal entries for every instance. There are a lot of placeholders for the DJ, though, so be warned!

4.3 Preview: Rogue Legendary and Priest Tier 13

Check out the initial lore behind Fangs of the Father, the new Rogue legendary, as well as the official preview of Priest Tier 13, which we covered yesterday in our
preliminary 4.3 PTR guide
Fangs of the Father
"They wanted to hold me, to keep watch over me – a prisoner in all but name. But I will NOT be held accountable for the sins of my father. My destiny will be my own."
- Wrathion, the Black Prince
Patch 4.3 will offer the most deadly and experienced rogues the opportunity to finally play a central role in the fate of the world the rogue’s way: by manipulating key events from the shadows. Players will travel across continents to accomplish crucial missions of reconnaissance, burglary, infiltration and, of course, assassination. Those familiar with the events that unfolded in the Badlands since the Cataclysm struck may recall the story of Rheastrasza, the ambitious red dragon who acquired a black dragon egg and magically purified it, cleansing it of the Black Dragonflight’s corruption. While those
4.3 Preview: Tier 13 Set Bonuses
2011/09/24 at 8:17 PM
Even more Saturday news--Blizzard released the Tier 13 set bonuses this evening. We're still waiting on visual armor previews for some classes, but it's always fun to start theorycrafting and speculating in advance. Some bonuses like Rogue 2-piece seem predictable based on past set bonuses, while tanking ones like Warrior 4-piece (free
Power Word: Barrier
?) seem problematic--creating "mandatory" set bonuses like raidwalls lead to balancing issues in later tiers.
Zahrym also hinted that 4.3 may be on the PTR as soon as next week--specifically Transmogrification and Void Storage right away. Other content like dungeons, the new legendary, and the Raid Finder will follow at a later time.
While we’ve been previewing the visuals of tier 13 on the front page at
, we thought you might be interested in the magics that lay imbued betwixt their stitches and plating. Behold -- the tier 13 set bonuses!
Please keep in mind that the below data is pre-PTR and could change prior to the release of patch 4.3.

4.3 Rogue Legendary Preview
2011/09/23 at 11:23 AM
Everyone was curious how Blizzard could out-do the on-use effect of Dragonwrath--well, they've just released a preview of the 4.3 legendary daggers!
Happy Friday, everyone!
We'd like to get this day started by offering you a first look at the legendary daggers coming with the patch 4.3 raid, Dragon Soul. We've got them set up on a night elf rogue wearing the upcoming tier 13 armor.
4.3 Preview: Paladin Tier 13 Battleplate of Radiant Glory

Adventurers will be tested like never before in 4.3 as they take on Deathwing and his minions, emerging with powerful new treasures. Please enjoy this preview of the paladin tier 13 set, as well as a visual guide to tiers 1 through 12 for
Battleplate of Radiant Glory
Design requested a set to ‘key off the Guardian of Ancient Kings summon,’ and I though the concept of ‘feathered’ plate mail, rendered in silver and gold, would create an aggressive, yet sweeping and powerful silhouette. The previous paladin raid set had a good deal of cloth, but we wanted this set to be entirely platemail.
The key to a strong paladin tier is hitting a balance between martial prowess and elegant grace -- tapping into that classic Arthurian knight archetype.

A "bat-themed" armor set for rogues seems like a no-brainer, but we were careful to skirt the more obvious inspirations. World of Warcraft often makes playful references to pop culture, but it’s important -- particularly with player gear -- that what we create has integrity within our universe. Rogues look good in close-fitting masks, collars, and cowls rather than elaborate armored helms. It also helps reinforce the rogue's sneaky silhouette if the shoulder pads have a streamlined shape... even if that shape has sharp, bladed details.

4.3 Preview: The Dragon Soul Raid And Transmogrification Rules
2011/09/19 at 6:25 PM
The Dragon Soul Raid
World of Warcraft patch 4.3 will offer players the opportunity to take the fight to Wyrmrest Temple and beyond, assisting Thrall and the Dragon Aspects as they seek to bring an end to the Black Dragonflight once and for all. 10- and 25-person raids will get to take on Deathwing himself, with three levels of difficulty to consider and epic gear to claim.
Forged by Deathwing during the War of the Ancients, the Dragon Soul harnessed the power of the other dragonflights, until it was ultimately destroyed. After recovering a version of the artifact from the Caverns of Time, Thrall and the allied dragonflights now rally at Wyrmrest Temple in a desperate bid to use its might to defeat Deathwing.
Created by the titans as a sanctuary for all Dragonkind, the crumbling Wyrmrest Temple is now the final hope for the forces allied against the black dragon Neltharion, once the Earth-Warder and protector of Azeroth, now Deathwing the Destroyer. It is here that the remaining aspects -- Alexstrasza, Ysera, Nozdormu, Kalecgos, and Thrall -- have gathered to empower the Dragon Soul -- Azeroth's last chance to stop the great behemoth. As

Hour of Twilight
The final stage in this series of dungeons is set in the present-day Dragonblight, now under a full invasion by the Twilight's Hammer. Players must escort Thrall and the Dragon Soul safely to Wyrmrest Temple, where the assault on Deathwing is to commence. But the Twilight's Hammer forces are numerous, and their leadership remains strong. Those attacking the temple are commanded by a man known very well for the strength of will he's offered Alliance citizens. Now with his own will broken, he preaches only Deathwing's cataclysmic vision for all life on Azeroth.
