News Round Up: Weapon Enchant Changes, Heart of the Wild, WoWkemon
2012/10/15 at 2:07 PM
Blizzard posted a ton of information today on several enchants that players have been puzzled about--
was underwhelming for several classes before, and now it works quite differently.
Recent blue posts have also addressed Heart of the Wild Changes, misconceptions about
Gara'jal the Spiritbinder
, and how players feel compelled to do
the dailies now that the 25-per-day limit has been removed.
On a lighter note, our friends at WoW Insider wrote a great article on
how to make your pet battles look like Pokemon
with the help of
. which you can get over at WoWInterface!
We recently hotfixed the
weapon enchants to improve their performance for many users. The important part for most players is that
is now is a useful enchant for all classes and specs, since it will trigger on all damage or healing, be it spell, melee, or ranged, and direct or periodic.
Pet Battles: Leveling by Zone, October 12th Hotfixes
2012/10/13 at 10:00 AM
Continuing with our pet battle coverage, we'll be focusing on the leveling flow today, sorting each zone by their wild battle pet levels. Pet battle progression through zones roughly follows the same path you'd take questing, with a few minor deviations. Each zone in the tables below takes you to that zone's battle pet map, with a list of all the pets found in the zone and the pet locations marked on the map.
Here's some basics about capturing wild pets:
You can capture a wild battle pet when it is below 35%.
At 35%, you can use the
ability to attempt to capture the pet.
This takes up a turn and there is a chance it can miss--which diminishes with each failed capture.
You can only capture one companion pet when fighting a team of three wild pets. You must also win the battle to retain your captured pet!
Captured wild pets may have their level decay when captured (still much better than leveling one from scratch):
Level 16-20 pets lose one level.
Level 21-25 pets lose 2 levels.

Pet Battles: Wild Battle Pets by Zone
2012/10/07 at 11:10 AM
Capturing wild battle pets is a new way to obtain companion pets in Mists of Pandaria, and it is one of the primary ways of acquiring pets for your pet battle team.
Wild battle pets can be tracked on your minimap: you can have your team fight them for experience, or capture one at low health to add it to your collection. Pet families have strengths and weaknesses against other types, so choose your opponents wisely. There are different versions of each pet--some with more stats than others--so you could get lucky and end up capturing a really strong version! There's also many
achievements for capturing wild battle pets
We've made tables below of all the wild battle pets, organized by continent and color-coded by type. With this chart, you can see what pets are unique to various zones, and also which pet types are pretty scarce--Dragonkin and Mechanical especially. All the data was taken from our

New Site Features: Battle Pets Map and Visual Pet Database
2012/09/24 at 5:06 PM
The entire Wowhead team has been hard at work updating our database to the MoP version of data so be sure to check it out! We have
a battle pet database
a new world map
, and every section of the database updated to Mists of Pandaria's latest. We'll continue to be updating the site throughout the week as well.
The addition of pet battles is one of the biggest features Blizzard's bringing with Mists of Pandaria and it's the one we worked especially hard on. Here are the two features we've added to make your pet collecting a lot smoother:
A visual pet battle database for every pet out there
Search for detailed pets with a variety of filters: source, location, and more
See every pet's detailed stats and information
Search by images or plain text to find the perfect pet
A complete world map showing every pet location
Find pets by zone to add to y
News Round Up: Reduced Droprates for Heroic Mounts
2012/08/06 at 12:48 PM
is hard to get and so is
. Unsurprisingly, it looks like
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor
will be getting reduced drop rates too next expansion, as blue posts clarified today. It would be trivial to get guaranteed mounts from heroic encounters an expansion later.
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor
are easier to get than their Wrath counterparts were.
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor
drops on normal-mode, heroic mounts are available on 10s difficulty this expansion, and multiple
on 25s means everyone in the raid gets them faster.
Blizzard has already clarified upcoming achievements like
Cutting Edge: Grand Empress Shek'zeer
will only be available in their current tier, so it looks like they still want some heroic rewards to remain time-sensitive, not something to overgear and farm an expansion later.
If these mounts do become much harder to get, at least
Corrupted Egg of Millagazor
Reins of the Twilight Harbinger
from meta achievements have the same models.
Will the mounts be an 1% drop ish in MoP? Or do they stay as current 100%?
I haven't seen any information on this as of yet :).
Thanks for reading.
The developers haven't decided yet how they'll ha

Mists of Pandaria Beta: New Maps, Icons, NPCs, Quests, and More
2012/04/25 at 7:11 PM
We had a huge patch
last night and there's a lot more information to cover!
First off, in the biggest news,
achievements will be account bound
. Blizzard had hinted they really wanted to do this, but didn't know if they'd have the time. They are now mostly account bound!
Secondly, we datamined more
, and icons. We also previewed the new features in the Pet Battle system, as well as general changes such as spellbook improvements and new female Pandaren fur markings.
Do you want to be the best, that no one ever was?
Battle Pet Training
from a Master Pet Tamer such as
in Goldshire, you will be able to both capture wild pets and battle them. Both types will be tracked on your minimap. The screenshots below show a pet battle we initiated with a

Mists of Pandaria Pet Passives, Dynamic Quest Rewards, and 400,000 More Beta Invites
2012/04/19 at 3:33 PM
In Mists of Pandaria, both vanity pets and quests are having some pretty major additions! The pet battle system and the dynamic questing have recently gotten some love from Wowhead.
Our database now has
pet battle data
We also discovered that all pets have a type and that type has a passive (racial)
. For example, Undead pets come back to life after they're defeated!
Critters break out of crowd control effects more quickly.
Beasts deal 25% extra damage below half health.
Humanoids recover 2% of their maximum health every time they attack.
Deals 50% additional damage to targets with less than 25% health.
