Over the past few days, Lead Encounter Dev Watcher has been explaining the decision behind

ilvl 541 gear
. Many raiders don't have good memories of limited-attempt bosses such as
Algalon the Observer
The Lich King
in Wrath, and the thread tries to alleviate various concerns about limited attempts. Ghostcrawler has also continued posting 5.2 class changes after his [url=

PvP Cosmetic Enchant at 2200 Rating
Totally agree in principle, but I'm not sure we need to keep a hurdle in, and adversely affect the PvP game, just to give people something to shoot for. We'll have a cosmetically different enchant available at 2200 in 5.2, and going along those lines we're looking at what potential future cosmetic rewards we could add for various ratings in the future.
Ghostcrawler has posted many 5.2 class balance changes in the past few da
News Round Up: Valor Point Cap, Ghostcrawler Twitter Highlights
2013/01/02 at 12:34 PM
While many of us are still on vacation, Blizzard staff is returning to regular news posting! Today we have some explanations behind the
cap--always a hot topic--and what the purpose of common-quality vendor gear serves when it gives minimal upgrades. Personally, I think it adds some neat flavor even if the items aren't huge upgrades, but would like to be able to use them for transmog.
Ghostcrawler has also been pretty active on twitter dispensing advice and answering player concerns. We've picked out some of the most interesting recent ones, which cover class balance, LFR droprates, and cooking catch-up mechanisms.
We've also refined some 3D models from our
popular Season 13 PvP post
--check out the new shoulders!
The cap should not really be seen as punishment to people for being able to reach the maximum amount of
s every week. The idea behind the cap is to give people a choice on how they reach the cap without having them feel obliged to do everything.
s should also not be considered the prim
News Round Up: Pet Battle Experience Updates, 12/13 Hotfixes
2012/12/14 at 5:08 PM
We'll be putting up our
Feast of Winter Veil
guide later today, but there's also been some blue posts we want to share with you! Most importantly, pet battlers will be happy to learn that it will be easier to power level low-level pets due to an upcoming hotfix in which level 25 pets don't leech experience.
Also posted this afternoon: several hotfixes pertaining to battle pets,
Grand Empress Shek'zeer
's heroic loot table, and
We’ve been receiving a few inquiries over Twitter and through email regarding
, so we thought we’d share our thoughts on Pet Battle experience gains with you.
We will soon be applying a hotfix that causes level-25 pets to no longer “steal” experience from your lower-level pets. Previously, if you had a level-3 and level-25 pet grouped together for a battle, the XP earned would be shared between the two at the end. This resulted in some players doing what they could to kill off their level-25 pet so the level-3 pet would get all of the experience. You no longer need to worry about this as the level-3 pet will now receive 100% of the XP that’s earned, so long as it has participated in at least one round
New Vol'jin Scenario, 5.1 PTR Patch Notes Updated
2012/11/14 at 1:50 PM
The Horde is getting some new scenarios in 5.1--today we're taking a look at the new Vol'jin one,
Dagger in the Dark
. We previewed
two new Alliance scenarios
this past weekend, so if you're team Varian, check them out!
Patch 5.1 PTR notes were also just updated--we've included the new parts below. Of note:
Brawler's Guild invitations can now drop from select Horde and Alliance NPCs.
Spirit of Harmony
can now be purchased for 600
at the Conquest Quartermaster.
Level 90 players can now queue for
via the PvP tab to battle one another in these epic conflicts.
Dagger in the Dark
Vol'jin is ordered by the Horde to investigate the origins of the Saurok. He's not too happy to discover that the Mogu created them from dark magic, but Garrosh's loyal guards are thrilled by this discovery--they want to create an army of corrupted warriors, similar to the Mogu.
