Dev Watercooler - Itemization in 6.2, Mystic Runesaber Feedback, Blue Tweets
2015/05/20 at 12:17 PM
The Warcraft Systems Team has published a blog on important 6.2 itemization changes:
Loot item levels from Hellfire Citadel are different from past raids--they increase as you progress through the instance. This is so players killing a late-zone boss do not risk disenchanting most drops because people already have better gear from earlier bosses:
Hellfire High Council
drop ilvl 690 Normal, ilvl 705 Heroic, ilvl 720 Mythic loot.
drop ilvl 695 Normal, ilvl 710 Heroic, and ilvl 725 Mythic loot.
Fel Lord Zakuun
drop ilvl 700 Normal, ilvl 715 Heroic, and ilvl 730 Mythic loot.
drops ilvl 705 Normal, ilvl 720 Heroic, and ilvl 735 Mythic loot.
Hellfire LFR loot is ilvl 675 from earlier bosses and ilvl 685 from later bosses.
There have been tuning adjustments to ensure that gear with your attuned stats remains the right choice to equip.
You can preview all the 6.2 Hellfire Citadel loot in our PTR database: click for

There are also personal loot improvements:
Groups will receive a much more predictable number of drops when defeating a boss.
Set items will reliably drop in Personal Loot.
The overall rate of reward for Personal Loot has been increased.
The new Personal Loot UI shows what you've won to your entire group, so your party can share in the excitement.
New Profiler Feature: Pin Your Character, Get Gear Recommendations on Database Pages
2015/03/22 at 12:55 PM
We love showing personalized information on database pages that's powered via the
, and we've expanded this to cover gear recommendations!
pin a Battle.net character
, you'll see a special "Upgrade for" section in Quick Facts when visiting any gear page. This lists the name of the character for whom it is an upgrade and clicking on it takes you to their Profile page. For raid items, which have multiple difficulties on each page, the recommendations specify what difficulty is an upgrade.
This is currently a simple comparison--it does not take into account item variations or recommend trinkets--but we have some more refinements coming to items soon. We're excited about using our Pin feature in a new way!

2014/11/19 at 1:26 PM
This guide covers how to hit your ilvl 610 requirement for Heroic Dungeons and the ilvl 615 requirement for Molten Core. It focuses mostly on gear in the ilvl 610-630 range that you can easily get close to the launch of Warlords of Draenor, such as rare spawns, questing, Normal Dungeons, and
Gear that you can get a little bit later or with more effort, such as Challenge Mode items, fully upgraded crafted gear, Normal Highmaul loot, or loot from ilvl follower missions will not be covered in great detail. For those sources and more, check out our general

Warlords of Draenor Early Gearing Guide
2014/11/05 at 12:02 PM
This guide provides an overview of how to gear up in Warlords of Draenor! While some ways take longer or require more effort than others, we’ve described all the ways you could reasonably get gear in the first month or so.
We’ve also covered how you can modify/enhance your stats (gems, enchants, consumables) and a table sorting gear by slot and item level.
Warlords Questing (505-610)
As you quest and level up in Warlords of Draenor, you will inevitably get rid of your Siege of Orgrimmar gear. Here are some factors to keep in mind besides the item level:
Trinkets from Siege of Orgrimmar have reduced effectiveness at level 91 and higher, such as
Assurance of Consequence
All specs have an “attunement” spell that boosts a specific secondary stat by 5%. Several specs have stat boosts for new stats that are not plentiful on Siege of Orgrimmar gear, such as Holy Priests with
. Consider picking up quest items with this stat.
While quest gear does not come with sockets or set bonuses, it has a small chance to be 10 or 20 item levels higher than the quest log displays.
Guide to What's Coming in the Warlords of Draenor 6.0.2 Prepatch
2014/10/01 at 12:10 PM
This guide covers all the content and system updates coming in the Warlords of Draenor prepatch--
the expansion hits.
The Warlords of Draenor prepatch is coming on
. This patch contains many system and UI changes for Warlords of Draenor--you just can’t access Draenor content or level to 100. You can access things in the prepatch like new character models, the 6.0 prelaunch event, the Toy Box, and new raid difficulties.
The prepatch also removes some Mists of Pandaria content, such as starting the legendary questline, finishing MoP Challenge Modes, obtaining the
Reins of the Kor'kron War Wolf
, and purchasing heirlooms for Justice Points. We’ve
put together a guide
documenting everything that’s going away if you want to obtain some vanity gear and achievements before it’s too late!
