The Shattering (Patch 4.0.3a) Hits Azeroth: It's The End of the World as We Know It
2010/11/23 at 8:48 AM
The day has finally come: Azeroth has been torn asunder, and now it's time to pick up the pieces!
Blizzard has been hinting at it by preparing patches on the PTR for release, and Bashiok was even
toying with forum posters last night
, but we have official confirmation this morning:
It is time, friends, for the world to shatter.

Any time new content is posted or added, you'll be able to find it on this page—so if you run into anyone who's wandering around Azeroth after the servers come up going "OMG WHAT HAPPENED," just link them here!
Remember, with the addition of new content like this, it's more important than ever to

Bashiok just announced an "Elemental Portal Fire Sale" on the official forums:

Grand Ambassador Flamelash
, now's the time to do it!
Due to your valiant efforts in protecting the key invasion cities, the four boss portals are now 'permanently' open. If you need anything from inside the portals, or maybe you dropped your keys in there, now is the time to go through and get them.
Initial reports from shaman in the area that were available at time of publishing suggest that this is hinting at something far more sinister. One such shaman, a one 'Krunkmaster' from Proudmoore was quoted as saying "This is hinting at something far more sinister."

Live Patch (13329): The Shattering is Imminent!
2010/11/21 at 11:34 PM
It looks like a new patch will be hitting the live servers this week, and all indications are that this will be the moment we've all been anticipating for years.
If you're trying to finish up Loremaster, capture some last-minute screenshots of your favorite zones, or enjoy Barrens chat one more time before it's split into two smaller Barrens chats, you'll probably want to do that within the next 24 hours
. This is, of course, assuming that the patch gets applied on Tuesday, as per the usual schedule.
In case you have some spare time, you can check out the spell changes between the current live servers and the latest PTR patch after the break!
Highlights from "The Shattering"
A few minor cosmetic changes have been applied to some zones. Nothing you'll miss.
That class that you like to play was totally nerfed.

Blizzard developer blog: "Why Does Blizzard Hate Healers?"
2010/11/19 at 2:18 PM
Ghostcrawler has just posted the first "Developer Blog" on the new battle.net WoW site, and it deals with a topic close to my heart: healing.
There's been a lot of concern lately about the effect Cataclysm is going to have on healing performance, and the changes Blizzard is making. When you're just looking at spell changes (like

like in Cataclysm.
The full text is included after the break, but let me give you a quick summary:
Healers in Wrath had way too much mana.
This doesn't seem like a bad thing, but in practice it meant that most healers pretty much never had to worry about mana, ever—which makes healing boring and one-dimensional. It meant you never had to choose between your
