News Roundup: Ask the Devs #7, Wowhead Contest Winners, and Dungeon Journal Preview
2011/05/02 at 11:51 AM
Ask the Devs just started to take questions for their seventh installment and this time it's all about professions! Let's hope we get some better questions and answers than last week; it'd be interesting to see Blizzard's insight into balancing professions and their thoughts on archaeology in particular. 4.2 Dungeon Journal FAQ
There's a new preview for the new Dungeon Journal feature that's supposed to be hitting World of Warcraft in 4.2. Sadly it doesn't tell us too much--essentially this feature looks like it will provide content a lot of fansites do, showing bosses and their abilities as well as providing an overview of an instance. Seems like it will be great for newer players, but more experienced ones will still prefer to use websites and forums for their information. It should be of an enormous help to pick-up groups, though. We can't wait for more information about it, so here's to hoping it gets a bigger preview soon!

Blizzard Reveals Legendary Staff: Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest
2011/04/28 at 2:15 PM
Blizzard have finally posted details on the legendary-quality staff coming in Patch 4.2,
Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest
In order to be eligible for the quest chain, a player must first have defeated all encounters of Blackwing Descent, The Bastion of Twilight, and the Throne of the Four Winds, and quest content will require Firelands raid progress (obviously).
Upon completion of the legendary staff, all members of the guild participating in its creation will receive a unique non-combat pet!
In addition to being incredibly awesome (no doubt), the staff also "bestows upon its wielder the ability to transform into a member of the Blue Dragonflight". Whatever this means, it's also incredibly awesome.
What are you waiting for, check out the full preview!
Ever since the death of the Dragon Aspect Malygos, the blue dragonflight has struggled with appointing a new leader. Its members are now torn between the two likeliest successors: Kalecgos, who champions reconciliation with other races; and Arygos, a scion of Malygos who believes that his kind should withdraw from the wo
4.2 Firelands Preview: Bosses, Dragonwrath, and More
2011/04/28 at 11:18 AM
Blizzard is heating things up with more 4.2 previews after
yesterday's stunning videos
were released. This time, they're here to tell us about each boss in Firelands and tease us a little about the new caster DPS legendary:
Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest
. Apparently not only will the legendary reward those who receive it, it will also reward the entire guild with a unique non-combat vanity pet!
But wait--they're not stopping there with this preview! According to Blizzard, besides having seven new bosses, 4.2 will also have new mounts, achievements, guild challenges, and a new tier of gear as well as weapons. All in all, it looks like this is warming up to be a really good patch. Hopefully it will be one that serves as this expanion's Ulduar; memorable and rewarding for all ranges of players.
For ages, the Elemental Plane served its purpose as a secure realm to imprison Azeroth's primordial spirits... until the Cataclysm ruptured its boundaries. Without warning, Ragnaros's armies surged toward Mount Hyjal, intent on burning the World Tr

Ask the Devs #6: Guild Advancement
2011/04/27 at 12:23 PM
Blizzard has answered their sixth installment of Ask the Devs focusing on guild advancement in Cataclysm. The topics were fairly broad, but they give a great deal of insight into how Blizzard feels about its current guild system--from the risks of a perk-based system to what future guild levels will look like. Still, it wasn't the most exciting Q+A. It feels like there were a lot of missed opportunities to ask some harder hitting questions about the state of guilds in Cataclysm, particularly how many top PvE guilds have disbanded or suffered a decline since this system's implementation as well as future guild rewards.

Guild Leveling: Will Guild Challenges Help?
Abusive Guild Leaders
