Concerned the new Piccolo is going to be another annoying item that interrupts eating/drinking, confirm it won't?

We've changed the way the item works specifically to avoid that. It will not interrupt eating or drinking.

I'm a raid leader, and I built a Mage Tower to help my raid team get to raid. Did I just waste my gold? They can't use it?

Your friends will be able to use your Mage Tower / Spirit Lodge portals in patch 6.1!

5.2 PTR: Blacksmithing Leveling Revamp, Megaera Video
2013/02/01 at 11:18 AM
In today's news round up, we found some big changes to blacksmithing on the 5.2 PTR! Blizzard is also conducting a ton of raid testing this week, for which we have a preview video, and launched a
Patch 5.2 Under Development
site that has information on the new raid, world bosses, factions, and PvP changes.
New Blacksmithing Training Projects
If leveling Blacksmithing always seemed daunting, 5.2 should make this a bit easier. There is a series of new
Ghost Iron Bar
that should get you from 1 to 500--no more flying around Azeroth for
This reminds us of the Pandaria leveling recipes added to
at the start of Mists of Pandaria, which allowed players to level up cooking mostly from vendor materials and cut out the need for old-world reagent farming. So far, no other professions appear to have received a similar revamp on the PTR.
These training projects, such as
Training Project: Ghost Iron Wok
, can be learnt by players level 85 or higher, from Pandaria trainers in
Vale of Eternal Blossoms
. Upon learning the skill, they will have the quest
So You Want to Be a Blacksmith...
Training projects create cheap vendor items such as
Ghost Iron Wok
--there are no training plans that teach you armor recipes or vanity items. You can go back and easily learn the Azeroth recipes after you've leveled up.
It looks like
Ghost Iron Bar
will be more in demand in 5.2 between these Training Projects and the addition of crafted
vanity weapons, mounts, and pets
we covered last week.

5.2 Crafted Vanity Items: Lightning-Forged Weapons, Engineering Pet
2013/01/25 at 12:08 PM
Patch 5.2 has a lot of serious raid content, but there's also some vanity items being added to professions. Blacksmiths get to craft replica versions of all those distinctive (and sadly removed) Burning Crusade weapons!
Blacksmithing: Lightning Forged Weapons
If you always wanted to craft iconic Blacksmithing weapons like
but didn't learn the plans prior to Cataclysm, it looks like you'll be able to create replica weapons in Patch 5.2 like
In the last PTR build, we datamined
new blacksmithing plans
that were named after distinctive weapons from the Burning Crusade. These BoP weapons were only craftable by Weaponsmiths, and when specializations were removed in Cataclysm, players were no longer able to learn these plans. In addition, players couldn't learn all the weapons in Burning Crusade even if they were Weaponsmiths because there were further weapon subsets, such as Master Hammersmith.
Blizzard has already told us that there will be a special Lightning Forge on the
Isle of Thunder
, which will be unlocked after some time has passed.
5.2 PTR Patch Notes
: "As the heroes conquer the Isle, they will unlock the powerful Lightning Forge, which will allow Blacksmiths to forge mighty raid-worthy items, as well as classic weapons from the past."
