Patch 5.0.4: Account-Wide Achievements, Tier 13 Bonuses
2012/08/29 at 1:17 PM
We're taking a closer look at the new account-wide achievement system and some other changes we found while playing yesterday. Highlights include:
Realm-first titles are account-wide, like
. Blizzard stated in the past that they weren't in favor of doing this, so this is a big surprise.
Dragon Soul is up to the 35% buff and
Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider
no longer requires
Heroic: Spine of Deathwing
Heroic: Madness of Deathwing
Many Tier 13 set bonuses changed in light of the talent tree revamp.
Have Group, Will Travel
and flask guild perks are gone.

extensive 5.0.4 patch guide
with information about new talents, Theramore's Fall, and the revamped dungeons!
Account-Wide Achievements, Titles, Mounts, and Pets

The new beta build we

In the aftermath of
Ghostcrawler's latest blog on account-wide achievements
, there's been some blue posts clarifying this announcement. There's also been more posts on warrior and paladin abilities in Mists, and if you like to PvP, the time to participate in the Arena Pass is
: it's entered the exclusive rewards phase.

New Ghostcrawler Blog: Achievements in Mists of Pandaria
2012/05/08 at 8:59 AM
Ghostcrawler decided to tackle achievements in Mists of Pandaria, with some new information on account-wide ones.
class="detail">
We recently added account-level changes to achievements in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, and there’s still a lot of work left before we’re done. The plan here is to illustrate the intent behind our design, which should in turn help you figure out the answers to many of your questions.

Overall, we never want you to play Character A instead of Character B because of achievement concerns. If Character A had the Violet Proto-Drake, then you might not play Character B. If Character A was only one holiday away from the Violet Proto-Drake, then you may not play Character B. If Character A had completed most of the raid achievements from Dragon Soul, you may not want to bring Character B for one fight and miss out on the achievement. Having alts is cool and working on achievements is cool, but we don’t want the two systems to work against each other.

Mists of Pandaria Beta: New Maps, Icons, NPCs, Quests, and More
2012/04/25 at 7:11 PM
We had a huge patch
last night and there's a lot more information to cover!
First off, in the biggest news,
achievements will be account bound
. Blizzard had hinted they really wanted to do this, but didn't know if they'd have the time. They are now mostly account bound!
Secondly, we datamined more
, and icons. We also previewed the new features in the Pet Battle system, as well as general changes such as spellbook improvements and new female Pandaren fur markings.
Do you want to be the best, that no one ever was?
Battle Pet Training
from a Master Pet Tamer such as
in Goldshire, you will be able to both capture wild pets and battle them. Both types will be tracked on your minimap. The screenshots below show a pet battle we initiated with a

Mists of Pandaria Day One: Inscription, Guild Perks, Achievements, and More

First things first:
our Mists of Pandaria database is live
Secondly, we've broken down all the new information in easy to digest tabs so you can check out he new goodies in Mists of Pandaria. We're hard at work pouring through all this great data. You can, of course,
go through the items in the MoP database
and see the changes for yourself. Check out some of the highlights below, such as our Druid Visual Spell Changes.
We'll be playing the beta all morning and datamining some more information for you, so check back often!
Thousands of new items and spells--day one of datamining, including dozens of profession items.

Beyond Loremaster: Quest Achievements
2012/02/11 at 10:31 AM
too daunting, but still like questing? There's still a ton of quest-related achievements out there. This guide covers all the achievements tied to specific dailies or questing zones. Some give cool rewards like pets, while others require you to do special challenging things while completing otherwise mundane dailies.
I've also highlighted several outstanding user guides and comments about achievements--I couldn't have explained those achievements better myself. We're always looking for more guide contributions, so if you have a favorite achievement you want to talk about--share it

50 Easy Elders: Getting the Lunar Festival Pet
2012/01/28 at 2:26 PM
The biggest draw of the 2012 Lunar Festival is the new vanity pets--but the catch is that the Festival vendors sell different ones to each faction for 50 Coins of Ancestry. However, the pets are BoE, so we'll show you the easiest way to get 50 Elders if you rolled an alt for the pet, but got stumped after ??-level guards one-shot you in Brill. Whether you want to sell extra pets for gold, roll a toon on the opposite faction to put the pet on the Neutral AH, or don't have enough tokens on your main to buy everything you want (like engineers), this guide can help.
This guide provides maps and tables organized by difficulty level for each faction. For Elders that are tricky or located far away from flight paths, I've also provided tips to reach them without dying, after personal experience on my 58 deathknight and 62 mage.
For the purposes of this guide, I will assume that you only have ground riding. Deathknights have flight paths in 1-60 zones learned automatically, so getting to 60 for a Flight Master's License is not that important if your'e that class. However, you will be able to get 4+ more Elders easily with flying.

Orange: A Guide to all Legendary Weapons
2011/10/16 at 3:59 PM
With the buzz about the teaser information for
Fangs of the Father
, it's a good time to go back and look at the other legendaries Blizzard has implemented across expansions. Many of these weapons have similarly striking questlines and unique models--even if you can't transmogrify them, they're worth collecting. Whether you're trying to farm one of these for the looks or lore, or were the first person in your guild to receive one during progression, legendaries have a special place in everyone's heart.
We've also gone through the database to highlight removed, silly, and temporary legendaries for your amusement, as they've got some funny stories behind them too!

4.3 Preview: Darkmoon Faire and Rogue Legendary Quests
2011/09/30 at 2:21 PM
We have two exciting previews for you today and they both focus on the same content: quests in 4.3. For the first part, we've organized the Darkmoon Faire quests into tables, so you can see what kind of dailies and others you'll be doing during the festivities. We've also included their achievement, so you can see how they factor into achievements.
The second half is the rogue legendary preview--showing the initial quests you'll do. These are awesome and very much based on the class, but you'll have to jump down below to see what Perculia, our resident rogue, thinks! I just play a paladin, after all.

Well Read: A Guide to the Books of Azeroth
2011/09/10 at 11:19 AM
2011 Blizzard Global Writing Contest
fast approaching, now is a perfect time to review the lore of Azeroth--starting with the most obvious place--the books and monuments in game!
You'd be surprised to discover the wealth of information covered right in-game, from the founding of ancient empires to gripping accounts of recent battles, not to mention the detailed readable plaques by statues. There's even a few achievements that reward diligent players for their ocular fortitude.

, a port to a secret luxurious room in Dalaran. To complete this achievement, you'll need to read books that spawn every few hours in eight locations in Dalaran--and only remain for several minutes after being opened. Besides the long repsawn rate, there is a chance players can instead obtain "dud" books instead--jokey writings that spawn instead of the ones needed for the achievement.
