5.4.2 PTR Patch Notes - December 5, WoD Group Finder Clarifications
2013/12/06 at 11:22 AM
Blizzard updated the 5.4.2 PTR Patch Notes with some fixes to
Siege of Orgrimmar
is also now affected by healing debuffs, and Winter Veil toys that can attack each other like the
Crashin' Thrashin' Flyer Controller
can now fight it out in Sanctuary areas, like Shattrath.
CM Lore also posted a lengthy clarification on the difference between the cross-realm functionality coming to the existing Raid Browser tool in 5.4.2 and the completely new Group Finder feature coming in 6.0.
The cross-realm raid finder coming in 5.4.2 allows players to queue Siege of Orgrimmar flex raids and world bosses cross-realm.
The Group Finder coming in 6.0 will let players create cross-realm groups for pretty much anything, not just raids. It will also not be buried in the UI, like the Raid Finder tool.
You can read more about the cross-realm raid browser, which is testable on the PTR,

We've gotten a few small PTR builds this past month, and finally got official patch notes for 5.4.2 today. It's good to have a refresher on the cool cross-realm raid browser and improved mailing system coming soon, and there's the new tidbit that you can place raid markers while dead now.

Cross-Realm Raid Browser on 5.4.2 PTR, New Forsaken Female Model

WoW Source: New Forsaken Models
Morgan Webb sits down with Lead Encounter Designer Ion Hazzikostas, Senior Art Director Chris Robinson, and Game Director Tom Chilton to talk about the Warlords of Draenor reveal at BlizzCon 2013, and an exclusive first look at the new female Forsaken model (around 13 min in).
Cross-Realm Raid Browser on PTR
Did you know that WoW includes a raid browser to assist with finding or forming groups? Don't worry, neither do most people. But it exists, and as we work towards revamping and expanding this feature for Warlords, we figured that we could also improve the usefulness of the existing functionality in the short-term.
If you click the "Other Raids" button in the social Raid tab, you'll see a list of raids. For 5.4.2, we've added two new categories, Mists of Pandaria Raid (Flex) and World Boss, which are specially enabled to function cross-realm. If you're looking to join a group for these activities, you can check off t
5.4.2 PTR: Cross-Realm Account-Bound Mail and Karazhan Restoration, Student Art Contest
2013/11/19 at 10:34 AM
Cross-Realm Account-Bound Mail
In the latest 5.4.2 PTR build, we are testing the new ability to mail account-bound items to other characters on your account that may be on different servers. Notably, this should allow you to move heirlooms between servers, in advance of our planned Warlords changes that will make them fully account-wide.
Sending this sort of mail should work like any cross-server communication: You send the item to "Playername-Servername" and it should otherwise work like regular mail. Note that you can only send account-bound items, and not other items or gold.
Example: I have a character, Thrall, on the Benedictus server. I want to send my heirloom mace to my alt, Durotan, on the Lycanthoth server. I'd log in as Thrall, and attach the mace to a mail addressed to "Durotan-Lycanthoth" and hit send.
We'd appreciate any feedback or bug reports on this new feature so that we can address any issues prior to the release of 5.4.2. But even without direct feedback, just logging into PTR and mailing account-bound items across servers should give us useful data to help confirm that the feature is working as intended. Thanks!
