Cenarion Hatchling on Sale, 100% of Profits go to Japan Relief
2011/05/02 at 12:51 PM
Blizzard is doing Japan earthquake relief their own way--with a cute in-game pet!
We've been speculating for a while how Blizzard will help Japan out, but none of us imagined they'd do this!
just went up at the Blizzard store for $10 USD with a notification that 100% of the profits for this pet will be going to the Red Cross. Let's hope a lot of WoW players buy this little guy and help out Japan in the process; it's truly a win-win for people who want to donate to a good cause and get a ridiculously cute vanity pet in the process. Blizzard definitely deserves some commendation for putting this out there to help Japan and making sure that
the proceeds go directly to the charity.

Ask the Devs just started to take questions for their seventh installment and this time it's all about professions! Let's hope we get some better questions and answers than last week; it'd be interesting to see Blizzard's insight into balancing professions and their thoughts on archaeology in particular. 4.2 Dungeon Journal FAQ
There's a new preview for the new Dungeon Journal feature that's supposed to be hitting World of Warcraft in 4.2. Sadly it doesn't tell us too much--essentially this feature looks like it will provide content a lot of fansites do, showing bosses and their abilities as well as providing an overview of an instance. Seems like it will be great for newer players, but more experienced ones will still prefer to use websites and forums for their information. It should be of an enormous help to pick-up groups, though. We can't wait for more information about it, so here's to hoping it gets a bigger preview soon!

News Roundup: Latest Cataclysm Hotfixes, Dungeon Finder Change and more!
2011/04/29 at 8:51 PM
It's FRIDAY. Yet another day of awesome Patch 4.2 previews from Blizzard, including x and y, and a handful of new blue posts as well! Today's posts include the lateest Cataclysm hotfixes, a retrospective on the quality of Trial of the Crusader and a bit of input from Zarhym on just how "friggin' epic" Firelands is going to be. Who cares if there's "only" seven bosses, if those seven bosses and their encounters are
, right? In addition to this reassurance, we've also a few posts about a few 4.1 changes that needed just a bit more clarification. Check 'em out!
Latest Cataclysm Hotfixes (April 28-29)
Some interrupts were still incorrectly missing targets. Wind Shear, Spell Lock, Counterspell, Mind Freeze, and hunter pet abilities Nether Shock and Serenity Dust should no longer miss.
Characters who mount up with a pet bar active should no longer lose control of the pet if they dismount while under the effects of any crowd control.
Divine Aegis will no longer produce a shield if the full heal that should cause it is a
Patch 4.2: Tier 12 Armor Sets for Paladin, Mage, Rogue, Hunter, Death Knight, and Priest
2011/04/29 at 4:25 PM
This is probably the preview we've all been waiting for! Quests and zones are nice, but what everyone really wants to know is how they'll be looking for the next several months. Well, it's a mystery no longer for some classes; Blizzard just released a preview of how tier 12 armor sets will look for
. We'll let the images do the talking and have you form your own opinions in the comments as we're too busy staring at the hunter one and thinking about

and that's awesome.
All in all, 4.2 seems to really be living up to the anticipation it built. These recent previews have made it seem like Firelands will be a rewarding patch for raiders; the questlines look epic, the bosses look interesting, and
Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest
looks to be the most complex legendary since
Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian
. Even the daily hubs look engaging--Blizzard seems to have learned its lessons from Argent Tournament Grounds and the Isle of Quel'Danas.
Patch 4.2 Preview: Thrall's Return, World Tree Restoration
2011/04/29 at 11:21 AM
Thrall's back in this new 4.2 teaser released by Blizzard today. However, freeing him won't be easy; you'll have to face elementals as well as Thrall's own past. It's interesting that they chose to bring him back by tying him so closely to the World Tree's restoration, hinging its fate largely on freeing him from his elemental bonds.
It should be exciting to see how it plays out. Personally, we're wondering if this quest will have any room for choices. Blizzard has been alluding to the possibility that phasing in 4.2's new areas will be based on a player's choices, ultimately aiming to make Firelands a very personal experience for players. It would be quite compelling if Thrall were linked to the personalized outcome that they desire, especially given his rich history as a prominent Warcraft lore figure.

Children's Week (May 1 - 7) Guide, Including 4.1 Changes
2011/04/29 at 10:07 AM
It's been a while since a holiday has gotten a serious rehaul, but
starts this weekend and it's going to change that. This year the event features a redone quest chain for the initial leg of quests that take place in Azeroth, inviting you and your orphan to tour the changes Cataclysm has wrought. There are some clever additions to the questline as well, notably new ice creams that are served up specifically for the holiday at a mage run shop called
Cone of Cold
and dragon kites to fly with your orphan. Both the kites and the shop can be found in each faction's major capital city.
Additionally, there are two new rewards for those pet collectors:
(reward for new Azeroth quest chain) and
(reward for old Outland quest chain). This means if you've done this event every year, you'll still have a reason to check out this year's celebration.
As usual, we also have
a comprehensive guide
to share with the Wowhead community that outlines everything you need to know about the event in a lot of detail.

Following the Cataclysm, Ragnaros's elemental minions assaulted Mount Hyjal in a bid to set the ancient World Tree of Nordrassil ablaze. Although the Guardians of Hyjal and their allies heroically repelled this invasion, their work on the sacred mount is far from over. In the midst of the flood of 4.2 details they've been sharing, Blizzard have still managed to sneak in some quality posts on their forums. Blizzard Reveals Legendary Staff: Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest
2011/04/28 at 2:15 PM
Blizzard have finally posted details on the legendary-quality staff coming in Patch 4.2,
Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest
In order to be eligible for the quest chain, a player must first have defeated all encounters of Blackwing Descent, The Bastion of Twilight, and the Throne of the Four Winds, and quest content will require Firelands raid progress (obviously).
Upon completion of the legendary staff, all members of the guild participating in its creation will receive a unique non-combat pet!
In addition to being incredibly awesome (no doubt), the staff also "bestows upon its wielder the ability to transform into a member of the Blue Dragonflight". Whatever this means, it's also incredibly awesome.
What are you waiting for, check out the full preview!
Ever since the death of the Dragon Aspect Malygos, the blue dragonflight has struggled with appointing a new leader. Its members are now torn between the two likeliest successors: Kalecgos, who champions reconciliation with other races; and Arygos, a scion of Malygos who believes that his kind should withdraw from the wo
