Many spell changes have been made since this calculator was posted in April, check out our
for full details.
Last Update: 11 am 4/25. Talents and perks updated for Build 18179.
Blizzard just released the first version of the
Warlords of Draenor Alpha patch notes
, and to correspond with that they’ve provided us with the following preview of Level 100 Alpha talents and Draenor Perks. We've added them to our calculator, as well as lower-level talent changes we've seen from videos at past press events.
Of particular note:
Many level 100 talents are now spec-specific instead of one huge tooltip covering every spec. When you select a specialization on Wowhead's talent calculator, the level 100 talents will automatically update to reflect the chosen specialization!
Draenor Perks are a new type of leveling reward in WoD. When leveling from 91-100, you'll be randomly assigned one Draenor Perk each level that's appropriate to your class/spec, and when you hit 100 you'll have learned all of
Warlords of Draenor Official Alpha Patch Notes and Blue Tweet Responses
2014/04/03 at 6:25 PM
Tonight Blizzard has published the first version of the Warlords of Draenor Patch Notes. These patch notes focus on ability changes, including a huge section on removed abilities and changed crowd control in Warlords. Each class has its own section that covers the reasoning for ability changes as well as a bulleted list of changes.
The patch notes cover topics referenced in past blogs--retuned healing spells and new balanced racials--but also tons of new information like combat bonuses removed from Professions and new

Warlords of Draenor Alpha has begun!
2014/04/03 at 5:28 PM
Blizzard has announced the start of the Warlords of Draenor Alpha!
Of particular note:
There are some file formatting changes that are coming in WoW, which will affect how Wowhead gets data, so we look forward to handling all the changes!
Not all features will be available to test in the alpha--Garrisons are notably not available.
This marks the start of a very early Alpha stage for friends and family--it is quite limited and different from the start of MoP's beta.

We’ve been hard at work on World of Warcraft®: Warlords of Draenor™, and today we’ve entered the Alpha phase of our expansion testing. As part of this, we’ll begin using public servers to host the data, which means you may begin seeing some datamined information show up in the usual places.

One of our goals for this very early stage of the Alpha is to test out some new technology in the wild with employees and friends and family, including a new file format called CASC (more on that below). As such, the expansion content available during this first phase will be quite limited—many of the expansion’s major features, su
News Roundup: Challenge Mode reward updates, April Fools roundup

Challenge Mode Reward Updates
Blizzard has just posted a blog which details changes to the Challenge Mode rewards issued when the current "season" ends.
Some rewards are getting big changes, notably the Silver reward mounts from
Ancestral Phoenix Egg
are now account-wide plus you automatically know all four color variations instead of having to pick one color. In addition, the nine
titles for Realm Best times
are being completely removed.
Watcher later posted clarifications on why the Realm Best titles are being permanently removed, which we've added to our blog.
* Reward ClarificationsWith the upcoming end of the Challenge Mode Season, we wanted to provide some additional clarification on how we plan to handle rewards.
All Achievements associated with Mists of Pandaria Challenge Modes will become Feats of Strength.
The “Undaunted” title for achieving a full set of Bronze medals will become account-wide.
The Pandaren Phoenix mounts a
Patch 5.4.8 PTR: New Seasonal Events, Cosmetic Tab Added to In-Game Shop, Heroes Rocket Mount
2014/04/01 at 8:57 AM
This morning we datamined a new 5.4.8 PTR build and the servers were briefly up for us to grab some pictures! Read on for a summary of the datamined changes and PTR additions.
Like recent PTRs, this build appeared fairly small with vanity items and shop additions to make up for a lack of spell changes. However, these changes should make players very happy--new seasonal world events with collectible items are on the PTR! The in-game shop also continues to grow with the addition of a
tab--Warlocks, move over, Mages can get green fire now too.
Finally, while we primarily focus on WoW-related news, we've been including cool tidbits from
Heroes of the Storm
. The Wowhead Rocket was spotted as a new buyable mount on the Heroes alpha--news definitely worth sharing, even if it's not tied to WoW!
Oh, and by the way, APRIL FOOL'S!
Edit: Blizzard just published a preview of 6.0 patch notes--

or skip to the end of the blog! Of particulate note: Proving Ground rating of Gold will be required to post on the forums in Warlords of Draenor.
News Roundup: PvP rating issue hotfix, Blizzard tweets on gearing
2014/03/31 at 4:15 PM
Today we've had some updates on the recent MMR issues, as well as some tweets from Blizzard on gearing.
Wowhead launches Class Guides!
On Friday Wowhead launched guides for every class and spec. Aimed at new level 90s, or players new to a given spec, these are all written by experts in each class. You can check them out at our

MMR issues hotfix incoming
Blizzard Community Representative Daxxarri responded to player concerns about gaining 0 points of Current Rating following wins in arena:
We recently implemented a hotfix to address a bug that allowed Personal Ratings to exceed Matchmaking Rating. As a result, some players may notice that they do not gain or lose Personal Rating in the wake of a match. As more matches are played, these ratings will normalize and converge to the correct rating, and Personal Rating will then rise or drop accordingly.
In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation and make further adjustments if necessary.
Following several responses expressing dissatisfaction, Senior Community Repres
Introducing Wowhead Class Guides
2014/03/28 at 4:21 PM

These guides are in the style of our popular guides written by Wowhead staff, such as our holiday and patch guides. We've asked a number of raiders and bloggers, many of which were familiar faces at WoW Insider, to write guides aimed towards beginners. We've aimed for brevity, to give you just the core facts you need to get started, without bogging you down with hugely detailed strategies.
The guides include everything you need to get started:
Spells: core abilities, rotations and priority systems, self buffs, utility, CC and more
Talents: basic builds and optimal choices for different situations
Glyphs: the most popular choices and options for different contexts
