Introducing Wowhead's Design Revamp
2014/05/06 at 12:36 PM
Today the Wowhead team is proud to present our front-page design revamp! We've all wanted this for a while and we're thrilled to finally share it with you.
Each expansion, we evaluate how we present our site's content and if we can do anything better. For Mists of Pandaria, we
refined the layout of Wowhead News
to better serve our community--we streamlined the design, added some features to the sidebar, and changed the domain.
For Warlords of Draenor, we want our community to be better informed about our frequent database updates as well as our in-depth content previews. Many users love our
and blogs announcing
new site tools
, but we've also heard from other users that they aren't aware of these posts due to the front page layout.

Siege of Orgrimmar Changes in 6.0 & Warlords of Draenor
2014/05/05 at 8:05 PM
Blizzard just published a blog explaining changes
Siege of Orgrimmar
will undergo for 6.0 and beyond, including gear stats and rewards like heirlooms. If you want to learn more about raiding in Warlords of Draenor, be sure to check out our
recent interview with Lead Game Designer Ion Hazzikostas
All items will have their stats and socket bonuses squished. In addition, items that have hit and expertise will have those stats removed and converted into a useful secondary stat like haste, crit, or mastery. Spirit will no longer be found on armor pieces as well (it can still be found on non-armor pieces like necks).
You can see these gear changes by visiting
. Or, if you're on an item's specific page, click on the "Warlords of Draenor" text at the top left to be taken to the Warlords version of the page.
Robes of Riven Dreams
in 6.0 has 49 Haste and 64 Mastery. Currently
, this item has Spirit instead of Mastery.

Upcoming Wowhead Design Revamp
2014/05/01 at 11:08 AM
Each expansion, the Wowhead team evaluates how we present our content and if we can do anything better. For Mists of Pandaria, we
refined the layout of Wowhead News
to better serve our community--we streamlined the design, added some cool features to the sidebar, and changed the domain.
Looking forward to Warlords of Draenor, there are some improvements we want to make. Many users love our
and blogs announcing
new site tools
, but we've also heard from other users that they initially miss these posts due to the site's design. The current front page is a bit cramped with the search box, dropdown menus, and news featurebox practically on top of each other!
Our goal at Wowhead is to provide as much information to players as possible, so the Wowhead team has been hard at work on a front-page redesign. We're putting more of our current content on Wowhead's front page--Alpha previews, guides, and news roundups including current Twitter posts from the
Blue Tweet Tracker
. The layout tweaks also allow us to highlight more features such as

on the sidebar.
Blizzard's Warlords of Draenor Raiding Plans
2014/04/30 at 12:03 PM
Raiding in Warlords of Draenor
The final part of Lead Game Designer Ion Hazzikostas' Raiding Blog has been posted, covering raiding going forwards in Warlords of Draenor.
Wowhead will be interviewing Ion Hazzikostas on Friday morning
, so if you have questions you'd like us to ask, let us know in the comments below, or email Olivia on email@example.com.
The key points are as follows:
LFR will have different gear sets and associated art. If you want to see the LFR models, you can
view them on any race in the Wowhead Model Viewer
The rate of LFR gear drops will be almost doubled compared to today
The devs are trying to minimize the elements that have made guild raiders feel like they needed to do Raid Finder each week
LFR gear will not have set bonuses
LFR will have trinkets, but they will be more similar to more basic dungeon versions than raid versions.
Each raid difficulty will have its own weekly lockout. This means that completing a boss on any difficulty will not mean you can't do it on another. So, if you kill a boss on Normal, you can also kill him on Heroic and Mythic. Killing a boss on a given difficulty only locks you out of repeating that kill on that same difficulty in the same week.

Warlords of Draenor PvP Gearing Blog
Blizzard has released a blog on Warlords of Draenor PvP Gearing, focusing on the changes coming to gear acquisition in the new expansion. The key points are as follows:
PvP Power has been removed and PvP Resilience has been reduced to 0
PvP Gear will scale instead, you can see just how with the
Wowhead PvP Gear Scaling tool
Strongboxes will now be a source of gear - you can find the initial data entries for them on
Wowhead's Warlords of Draenor Database
Even if you don't win, you can still get rewards from Strongboxes.
Strongboxes can contain Honor, Conquest or Gear
All gear will be scaled up to a minimum ilvl in PvP. This will be lower than even starting PvP gear.
Skirmishes will have rewards
Warlords will have three tiers of PvP gear
Rated Battlegrounds and Arenas will have the same base Conquest cap
Winning a Rated Battleground will allow you to use a bonus roll token for a shot at a piece of Gladiator’s gear, similar to the Celestial world bosses on the Timeless Isle.

2014 Children's Week Guide (April 28 - May 5)
2014/04/28 at 1:54 PM
is a week in which we brave a challenge greater than any undead monstrosity and a task more daunting than saving the world. We must become parents for all those orphans throughout Azeroth and make sure they are happy. We can't tank a child's fears, we can't heal its memories of pain, nor can we DPS the sorrow out of them. So equip your toys, make a mage conjure a candy table, fill your quiver with joy, load your gun with something colorful, and venture into the World of Parenting!

Due to the advent of Cataclysm,
was changed in 2011 to have two new pets and redone locations for the initial tier of quests.
There's nothing new in 2014, but since all vanity pets are now battle pets in Mists of Pandaria, you might be more interested in collecting pets this expansion! Since battle pets are also account-wide, you can collect different sets of pets on your alts to round out your collection faster.
