You can already see these being expensive the first weeks into the expansion, so as a suggestion, start switching into transmutation spec and let all that money flow into your capitals.

As of 5.0.3 beta patch, there are 2 ways to make Living Steel now:

- 1 day CD + 6 Trillium bars.
- 3 Trillium bars and 3 Spirit of Harmony and ignores the day CD - Riddle of Steel (Thanks Aliok)

This change is similar to tailoring and inscription for Imperial Silk and Darkmoon cards, respectively.

Edit - Do note, that in addition to being used for the usual crafting type mats, this will be required (and the only required material) for Living Steel Belt Buckle (Living Steel Belt Buckle). This is a significant departure from WotLK and Cataclysm belt buckles, which only required raw materials, and no transmutes. This will possibly help keep the value of Living Steel healthy well into the expansion.

Looks to me like it's a bad idea to have multiple transmute alchemists in MoP when you can save resources doing Riddle of Steel instead with only ONE alchemist regardless of his mastery. It would be a perfect niche just like Truegold is in Cataclysm if only the transmute was available but now Riddle of Steel means we can just buy cheap botter-gathered materials from the AH and make as much Living Steel as we need. There won't be a competitive market for Living Steel with this Riddle of Steel option available, at least not after the first couple weeks.

Best bet in my opinion is make those alts learn a profession with a valuable cooldown.

The riddle of steel option requires BoP mats that are a rare drop so there will be no buying of mats from botters for the transmute with no cooldown. Value should stay high enough on these for a little while, at least until enough people complain and they end up making the spirits BoE in 5.1 or something.

Living steel is now the requierement for the ''Transmutation Master'' quest. You need 4 units of it.

If you are reading this now, in 5.0.4, you need to wait till MOP releases in order to be able to do it.

For alchemists wanting to transmute for your daily cooldown, you will need to:

Start with 120 Ghost Iron Ore (6 stacks)
Smelt (with a miner) Ghost Iron Bar x 60
Transmute: Trillium Bar x 6
and finally, Transmute: Living Steel

To create a Living Steel without a cooldown, you will need to:

Start with 60 Ghost Iron Ore (3 stacks) and 3 Spirit of Harmony
Smelt (with a miner) Ghost Iron Bar x 30
Transmute: Trillium Bar x 3
and finally, Riddle of Steel

I needed a ton of Living Steel. Since the only way to make it involved Trillium Bars and an alchemist, I had to find a way to get as many Trillium Bars as possible (and an alchemist who would sell me their daily transmute cooldowns). There are two ways to obtain Trillium Bars, transmuting Ghost Iron Bars, or smelting Trillium Ore. Both of those methods happen to require you farm lots of Ghost Iron Ore in the most efficient way possible. I'll explain how.

In order to get Trillium Ore nodes to spawn, you have to give them some place to spawn. Trillium nodes share nodes with Ghost Iron (in specific zones). If the Ghost Iron spawned in the node, none of the other spots within that node will spawn Trillium. You have to mine the Ghost Iron ore and hope Trillium respawns.

To do this in the most effective way possible, you want to mine out the node, go do something else (such as more mining) while waiting for the node to respawn and then come back to the node after it has respawned. Hopefully it will be Trillium. If not, you start over, mining out the Ghost Iron, going to do other stuff, and then coming back to the node.

Based on my ore counts, I'd estimate Trillium nodes spawning 6% of the time or 1 in 16 nodes. Plenty of people will probably recommend routes that take you all across a zone to find these few Trillium Ore nodes. However, these routes aren't efficient. If you intend to farm up Trillium Ore, you need to mine the fewest nodes possible the maximum times per hour. What I'm saying is instead of mining 100 different nodes twice per hour, mine 10 different nodes 20 times per hour. Every node respawn is a chance at getting Trillium Ore to spawn. Assuming every node in your route started out as Ghost Iron, 19 respawns at 10 sites is 190 chances at getting Trillium ore to respawn. Going all around the zone mining everything in sight gives you only 100 chances at getting a Trillium respawn.

This is my route

My route brings in roughly 9 Ghost Iron Ore per minute or 27 stacks per hour. This is approximately 4 and a half bars of Living Steel in materials per hour. Any Trillium deposits you find will only increase your yield.

My route starts in the Tu Shen Burial Ground. There are hostile mobs in the area, but most of them won't bother you and will be busy fighting friendly NPCs. Because of these hostile mobs, a lot of people don't farm here. They see and hear the clashing of swords of the hostile mobs and skip the area. After you've mined out all of the nodes in the area, you have about 30 seconds before the nodes start respawning again. Quickly head up to the Five Sisters, mine up any unprotected nodes and then head back to where you started and start all over again.

My only complain about Living Steel is that you need ridiculous amounts of it to craft crappy epics. If they would halve the Living Steel requirements for these ilvl 476 items or scale it up to ilvl 489, it should be good again.

I know that it's useless to complain, but anyway - WHY reagent for Blacksmithing and Engineering is crafted by Alchemists? Tailoring and Leatherworking don't need any other profession to make reagents. I understand, that Alchemy also should have something useful for other players, but why just for unlucky ones?
Why don't we get this beautiful STEEL by SMELTING it? /cry

Someone create a tab for a recipe. "Ore" how to craft the item. A solid link with crafterstome site but up to date.
