Apparently this is the Alliance "guild mount". The Horde counter part is the Reins of the Kron'Kar Annihilator.

I have some practical questions about this item (seeing that it's account bound):

Will this item be consumed when you use it, like with the shoulder enchants? Or will you know how to ride the mount and will the item persist, like with some of the account bound companion pets)?
Does this item have any relationship to the guild or guild repution or guild achievement? That is, if you buy this item and then leave the guild, will you still have the item, or will it be removed/unusable?
What is the speed of this mount? I assume it scales automatically with riding skill?
What is the price? Is it gold, is it Emblems of Justice? If it's gold, does it "disappear" like with NPC purchases, or is it contributed to the guild bank somehow?

One interesting point about the first question about reusability is when you leave the guild, you obviously won't be able to buy this any more (or at least I assume you can't). So if it's a one-time use only you might want to buy multiple for any future alts and in the case you might not be in the guild in the future. If it's reusable (like certain companion pets), then buying 1 for all your current and future alts is enough.

Edit: yep, I forgot to swap Alliance and Horde when copy/pasting my post from the Horde mount. I fixed it now, but I guess this post won't get uprated now that it's -2 and collapsed lol. My questions still stand, though.

I wonder if one will get to keep this mount even after quitting a guild (or the guild having disbanded) like it is now on beta.

It would be awful to lose this mount when changing guilds or having a guild disbanded, but it'd also encourage guild-hopping just for rewards if one would get to keep this.

Difficult choice for the developers.

I'd like to know the answer to this particular question, and I don't see an answer anywhere yet. If I want this on, say, my rogue and my paladin, am I going to have to buy it twice, or am I going to be able to buy it once and mail it to my other character?

Wait a second... The horde version requires level 40, and costs 3,000g...But the alliance version is level 20 and costs 1,500g... what is up with that? (Or so it says on the guild rewards panel)

Fail to blizzard! They have modified the way to get this mount. Previously we had to raise up like 12 rep to exalted and being exalted with your guild to get this mount. NO MORE ! your guild need to be lvl 25 and you need to be exalted with it to get it. like i said b4 : FAIL BLIZZARD!

let me point out (regarding the whole scorpion/lion debate) that the alliance represents HONOR ,INTEGRITY ,DIGNITY AND RESPECT hence the dignified lion tha looks awesome! while the horde are 'BADASS' RUTHLESS, FIGHTERS AND TOUGH hence the awesome SCORPION so if you look closel you can see the intelligent choice of the BLIZZARD game creators PS: kudos to toxicus who actually had the SENSE to realise the ally lion connection :p

You can go ahead and call me biased since I'm a proud member of the horde :P but I honestly like the look of the scorpion more, partly because of the awesome color that represesnts the Horde as a WHOLE (Props to Toxicus and trachia), but mainly because of the fact that it's A SCORPION!

Again, call me biased if you want, but to my knowledge, I don't believe there is any other mount that looks like a scorpion (Unless you think those silithid mounts count :P).

The lion does resemble the Alliance very well as a whole (Again, props), and looks pretty cool in that respect. But with that said, to me it just seems like they took a nightsaber, took the fangs off, put a mane around it and colored it gold.

I admire the Horde mount because it is unique in style.

The "Sold by" section has the Horde guild vendors listed. Which is incorrect, because it's an Alliance mount and sold by the Alliance vendors..

This mount is a beauty and my guild is almost 25 and I'm exalted with my guild! So I'll get it soon hopefully and then I can have a mount that matches my pet Sambas! Love it!

If you purchase this on alliance side you can send it to your horde toon to make the Kor'Kron Annihilator. It will show in your mailbox as the lion and when you receive it in your inventory it flips. ~~(Correction: This only currently works if you have previously faction transferred your character.)~~

~~This only works once. If you send back the scorp to ally side, it will stay a scorp (and be unusable to the alliance.)~~

Updated: They appear to have fixed this so it works regardless if you previously faction transferred.

While you need exalted faction with your guild to purchase the reins you do not need any faction higher than neutral to use them.

I am fortunate enough to be a member of a guild that received a server first guild level 25 today. Some observations about the mount;

For starters, the cost of the mount was only 1350g, not the advertised 1500g. Wether this is intended on not I don't know. I imagine your guild rep plays some part in the price being lowered combined with the level 24 guild perk Bartering.

Second, the guild banner/pole will almost completely obscure your character on the character screen, so be advised if you are trying to check your portrait out while mounted. Not sure how I feel about the guild pole showing while riding but it sure is a great way to showcase your guild crest.

If you are one of the first folks to get this on your realm, be prepared for multi-whispers, everything from "gratz", to "ok you got it, stop showing off" to "what is that and where did you get it?" All in all, a very nice looking ground mount!

Our Guild hit Realm First the other day and I decided to test a few things today. Partly to confirm what has been posted, but also to test what I haven't see yet.

1) Mount Cost 1350g

2) Requires the buying toon to be Exalted with the Guild.

3) Bound on Account

4) Item is consumed on use, so you must spend 1350g per toon that you want to have this.

5) CAN be sent to other toons who are not exalted with the guild, as well as them being able to learn and use the mount.

6) CAN be sent to toons outside of the guild and be learned and used.

7) If your toons outside of the guild are in guilds that do not have a talbard design, an alliance themed banner will be displayed instead (I'll upload a screenie).

8) Must have Apprentice Riding Skill to learn/use.

I saw this mount in Shadowform. What a waste of a good look.

The Celestial Steed and others look awesome when a Shadow Priest is riding them. This is not one of them. It looks like a dark blob with a couple glowing bits. Hard to tell there's a mount there at all. I had to look thrice to identify this mount.

On the upside (or downside?), when in Shadowform, at least it doesn't look like David Bowie! =P

Mailing this mount to a horde alt DOES change it into a scorpion. Maybe not in your mailbox but as soon as you take it into your bags it become the scorpion mount.

I can also confirm that mailing this mount to a Horde character WILL change it to a Scorpion, regardless of that characters guild standing.

Let me try to answer these and all other possible questions all in one post. (Although others have answered these questions, I'm just trying to get them all in one comment.)

You have to be Exalted with your guild to buy it.
Actual cost is 1350 gold because of the guild level 24 perk.
Like all vendor-bought items, gold disappears, not goes into guild bank. (Why would you think it would? None of the other rewards do that!)
Every mount in the game scales up to your maximum speed, now.
Like all other guild rewards, once you have it, it's yours, even if you leave the guild. Unlike battle standards which say right in the tooltip 'Requires Guild - Friendly' this mount can be used even if you're not even in a guild!
Once bought, you can mail it to any character on your account (limited by realm of course). And again, since it does not say 'Requires Guild - Friendly' this mount can be used by any character that has Apprentice Riding.
Previous to 4.1, if you mail this to a Horde alt, they get it as a lion but can't use it. In Patch 4.1, mailing this to a Horde alt converts it to a Reins of the Kor'kron Annihilator and they can use it, regardless of guild rep.
Consumes on use, so you must buy one per character that you wish to have it.

If you leave your guild and join a new one, of which you are not Exalted (Obviously, since it'd take 5+ weeks to get exalted with the new one) would you still have this in your mounts/be able to use it? Same goes for the Dark Phoenix mount, and the guild vanity pets?

MoP is coming, and mounts are going Account Wide. I made a little list of mounts, so you can show off how epic you are, starting at levels as low as 20. This list is meant for mounts you can achieve in-game without buying them from the Blizzard Store, as all of those can be used at 20. I have not included the TCG mounts, as those don't really show, "Feats of Strength" either.

With Account-wide mounts now, I'm guessing you'll need to buy 2 of these (1 to keep on Alliance, 1 to mail to a Hordie ) to have both of these mounts available on ALL of your toons?

Since apparently no one has pointed this out yet, if you ride this as a Pandaren, you get what might be a slightly different flag model; its turned roughly 90 degrees to the side so the crest is displayed forwards/behind instead of facing towards the sides.

Since no one has mentioned it here, you no longer need to buy two (one for each faction). It now automatically flips if you bought it, and learned it, once. (If you bought it once on Horde, it will show on your alliance toon as the Golden King. If you bought on Alliance, it will appear on Horde as the scorpion mount.)

I like this mount a lot, along with the Horde scorpion, but it has a very annoying camera bug. When you mount it, the camera anchor changes and moves significantly upwards and slightly backwards so is no longer centered at your character like the rest of the mounts of the game... in fact it seems to be centered at the flag you carry with this mount... pretty annoying to be honest. Is the only and single reason why I don't have it in my mount macro.

A fix for this would be really nice for those who like this mount a lot.

If you are no longer in a guild, you will hold the standard still, but it will have the lion symbol of the alliance.

You do not need to purchase and send to a Horde character to get the scorpion anymore. I learned the lion today and have the scorpion now automatically. (Nov 9, 2014, pre-WOD patch)
