When you kill the Lich King with a player wearing Shadowmourne in the raid, you will get an additional item - Unsealed Chest. After bringing the chest to Darion he will open it up and let you bring the items back to their respective owners to get your rewards :

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger - A brand new mount that looks like the Death Knight's class mount.
Muradin's Favor - A 10-minute Frost Dwarf transformation.
Jaina's Locket - A portal to Dalaran on a 1-hour cooldown, you finally have your own pocket mage!
Tabard of the Lightbringer - A tabard with a very shiny on-use effect.
Sylvanas' Music Box - A music box that plays Lament of the Highborne.

I've submitted a screenshot of a GM reply in-game of the following:

"The Sealed Chest item only drops as long as the person on the Shadowmourne quest line has 'The Lich King's Last Stand' in their quest log. Once they complete the quest, the Sealed Chest will no longer drop."

It's ONCE per Shadowmourne, NOT weekly. This will be a fairly rare item.

To the person calling this the least valuable Shadowmourne quest item:

QQvirus replied to your comment explaining the reasons why this is actually the most valuable quest reward. I agree with what he said, and to add to that, this is a group portal. While the Kirin Tor Ring and your Hearthstone only teleport you to Dalaran, this item can port every person in your party/raid.

My friend got a Shadowmourne, and he gave me the locket. I confuse the hell out of people when I sell them Dalaran Ports. I kinda wish you didn't have to be 80 to use this, seeing as people as low as 20 can use the mount, but it's a minor qualm. I really do enjoy using this in raids that don't have a mage.

In Cataclysm Beta - Build 13066
All city portals in Dalaran were removed, making Dalaran a dead end. This extremely devalues this item in particular, if you already have a Ring of the Kirin Tor the Locket became near worthless now (who would teleport more than once to Dalaran within 30min if you can only leave it by flight?).

I tried to use this to sell a port today for the first time. My customer said that it wouldn't work; he got the "You cannot use that item" text. He was an 85 Draenei DK in my group. What limitations have been found on its use?

I paid a hefty 20K for this locket...

...not because I wanted the port, but because I think the story between Jaina and Arthas is absolutely touching and sweet. Even in his darkest hour she still believes he has a shred of humanity left fighting.

For this reason, I still have it unequipped because I only wanted the item to have, for the flavor text/quiet RP. No need to equip.

In the future, I think, if I get married to my guy before WoW ends, I will likely sell it since I will have my prince. :)

Does this means that you CAN teleport a group of members like mages does or can you only teleport those who HAVE the item?

there's the ring which can cost only 5950g and is on a 30min CD, but i guess people on my realm don't know that and they are selling it for 100k buy out price, seriously? 100k? it's not even an rp realm, can't believe this *!@#ty economy i have on my server :/

if your guild used to raidroll the items and you won one ( i won Muradin's Favor ) you will not be able to get this item after getting your own Shadowmourne
The following items are unique

Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger is also unique but is teached on use

If you already own any of the items that you purchased or were given to you, but you yourself are now fixing to complete the Shadowmourne quest, you have a problem. Four of the items and unique and therefore the quests to receive the items cannot be completed while you already own them.

Putting the items into your bank won't work, none of the items are vendorable for buyback later, and putting the tabard into void storage won't work because it's unique (I've not tested the tabard vendor yet).

Don't worry, there is another way! Thanks to Blizzard's newly released item restoration service, you can delete an item, finish the quest to receive the new item, mail it to an alt, and then use the restoration service to have your original returned to you via mail immediately. There is one catch, the item restoration service may only be used once every thirty days, so you cannot do it for all four items at once. Confirm the you have an item restoration available to you before you delete one of these very valuable items!

For those querying the value of the Locket since the removal of all but Stormwind/Orgrimmar portals in Dalaran and the introduction of the Guild Perk, Have Group Will Travel, you may see an increase in value come MoP:

This will make the loss of the guild perk Have Group, Will Travel more tolerable by giving players access to important world locations without tedious travel time, but still removing the ability to instantly summon an entire guild to a random location in the world.'

So, if you want to get to any Northrend content en masse, the locket's use might just become a little more sought after in the next expansion.
