This is the reward item you receive from the achievement Mountain o' Mounts (Alliance version), that wants you to collect 100 different mounts. It was actually added in patch 3.0.8, but first seen on the PTR for Wowhead.

If you want to see it in action, spy on Hira Snowdawn in Dalaran, she takes it for a spinn now and then.

I must admit, I am a bit disappointed in this as the reward for a extremely expensice achievement. Compared to a drake or a proto darke, it just seems a less than gratifying reward.

As far as i can tell the first person to gain the achievement was Warla-Dragonmaw on 1-20-09. I have no way of knowing if some1 got it earlier, but i have done a lot of research on it since i wanted to know who got it before me.

This is the exact comment I left on the Red Dragonhawk mount... who knows, if I don't get downrated, and more people actually come forward with how stupid this mount looks and the fact it's 280% speed for how incredibly hard it is and expensive to get, maybe something will actually come of it....

You know... considering this mount takes roughly 75,000g, hundreds and hundreds of hours of rep grinding and material gathering, and a decent portion of luck with rare drops to obtain, I really wish it was cooler. Such a small population of the game will have this mount, yet it doesn't even compare to mounts like the Hardcore Raiding mounts (Black and Plagued Proto Drakes) 310% speed fliers, or how about the Hardcore Pvpers (Deadly Gladiator's Frostwyrm) 310% flier, but oh no, not the avid collector's and hardcore players mount. Why do we get spat on with a 280% miniature dragonfly that I'm sure looks beyond retarded on a Tauren? Only reason I even care is because I'm very close to mine but after all the time I've put into it I really feel it is horribly not worth it and I'd rather ride something else...... what's everybody else's take on this mount?

IMO if enough people complain about this mount's speed/look or something similar, it might actually get changed...

I actually did the math instead of just guestimating 75k gold, and so far with the mounts I have and using Frehk's math, so far I've spent roughly 60,000 gold on mounts, and that's only considering the mounts that cost straight up gold, not considering the stacks and stacks of relics of uluar that I bought to get exalted with sons of hodir, or other rep grinds to exalted..... Now, granted that was my choice because I didn't want to have to count on 3 more rare drops instead of just buying the Grand Ice mammoth for 8,000g, or Traveler's Tundra mammoth for 16,000g, or the mechano hog for 13,500 (since I didn't farm any mats).... still.... WTB a little bit of thought to the mount for 100 mounts Blizz...

I love the look of this mount and all, but please...MAKE IT 310%! Most people who will complete this achievement is going to have one or more of the 310% proto-drakes already. This will make it a big disadvantage using this mount you worked so hard to obtain.

I managed to get one of these on wednesday after patch 3.1.2 was applied. Its a shame that it isnt 310% speed which it should be cause 100 mounts is a lot to gather but its still a nice mount non the less. Its /mountspecial is that it looks right then left.

As a few who have posted have said, this mount deserves to be 310% so for those aiming to get the mount and want their efforts to be rewarded fully, please post on the wow suggestion forums and lets see if we can make this happen

I would say that the dragon hawk isn't one of the best mounts i have ever seen i mean it's original and all but why not a frost drake so people who don't like Pvp can get one or maybe it'll be put into a raid at some point i dunno but i would have to say that sitting on a dragon hawks neck looking like your gonna break either as a tauren or a draenei looks ridiculous to me that's my view.

Personally I think the dragonhawk is one of the most awesome mounts in the game look wise.. I'm 28 away as of right now and can't wait..

Here are my thoughts for those that care.. I agree it should be 310% but dont change the model.

If you are tauren, go QQ on the RED Dragonhawk mount page since thats the mount you get. Draenei are big, yes so maybe just repositioning the character when it is sitting on the mount would suffice.. I think a blue Draenei and a Blue Dragonhawk would look pretty wicked together personally.

I'm posting on the thread now so that they might change the speed but I do not want the model changed. It's perfect the way it is.

Edit: Just wanted to add that I'm betting they will give a 310% frostwyrm or two at the appropriate time, like when you finish Icecrown Citadel raid achievements...

I just hit 100 mounts on the PTR, and to my surprise, I received both the red and blue dragonhawks in the mail... Is this a glitch on the PTR, or is it going live to make up for the red reward being so similar to the now purchasable Sunreaver dragonhawk?

Hmm, while I won't complain if they change it to 310% speed. I really can't say I agree with the reasoning that I'm seeing that you have to have gotten a 310% proto drake to get this one. I don't have the raid achievement proto-drake (to my unending rage about that) and I still have the blue dragonhawk.

The only two mounts that I didn't buy or achievement gain, was the blue proto drake and the raptor mount. Well I guess the AQ mounts but those were stupidly easy to obtain. edit: forgot I got the brewfest ram.

And from manbearpigs post about spending hours and hours collecting, Violet proto-drake is on the way. I just see the 100 mount achievement as the next spend in the series. Though I do like the idea of it being an emerald drake :).

To those that haven't gotten it, don't give up! Spent all day refarming all of the research tokens to get those talbuks, the light is there at the end of the tunnel. I'm still on the hunt for Anzu and Thekal :)

Finally they scaled this mount correctly in 3.2. It's much bigger (almost nether drake size).

I just want to state that i think this mount looks gay.... but if you're anything like i am, u hav more fun doing the work for the mount than actually flying the mount, it gives you something to do instead of having the mount handed to you and just being like "weee look at me im on a dragonhawk.....ok now I'm bored"

If you want an ingame look at the mount, Hira Snowdawn rides one at Krasus' Landing and will periodically do a loop of the area.

The problem with saying it costs 75k gold and this is all i got is that eventually this achievement will be very very easy to get. Even now, before all the argent tournament mounts it was possible to get this. So once another rep comes out in a few months with more mounts it will become trivial to get thus the reward should not be a super awesome mount. Grats to those who got it tho.

So give a 310% mount but, when necessary, increase the number of mounts needed for the achievement.

I'm not even going for this achievement - at least, not yet - and it annoys me that this mount is only 280%.

I find it very unfair that this is the only way alliance can get a dragonhawk, while the horde can get http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46814#comments much easier and cheaper. And the horde one looks much cooler.

I"m Aliiance and i was just on the page for the red one that horde get and i'll say the same thing ever since burning crusade ive wanted a dragonhawk especially one of the color that horde get but i'll also agree this really should be a 310% mount and i kno lots of people like frostwyrms better that u get from arena on the comments for red one everyone was liek dragonhawks are dumb we should get a frostwyrm and stuff its just my personal opinion but i think dragonhawks are alot better

I just got this today. While I actually think it's awesome because I have a thing for Dragonhawks, I do agree that it's unfair that the Horde get a red one by having enough champion seals. And it's especially unfair that it's only a 280%, but I'm reserving my intense hatred on that one to see if Blizz lets other mounts become 310% if you already own one, which I will and so will many others after Brewfest.

What cheezes me is after 100 bloody mounts the reward is another flippen 280% mount! The least it could be is 310%... Cool as sin mount, but (jumps up and down like a 4 year old) COME ON!

Can someone help me in a mount hunt?
I have so far 51 mounts (wow). Here are the mounts i have so far:
Stormwind exalted = 7 (black,brown,chestnut,pinto,swift brown,swift palomino,swift white).
Ironforge exalted = 6 (brown,gray,white,swift brown,swift gray,swift brown).
Gnomeregan exalted = 7 (blue,green,red,unpainted,swift green,swift white,swift yellow).
Exodar exalted = 6 (brown,gray,purple,great blue,great purple,great green).
Darnassus exalted = 7 (stripped frostsaber,nightsaber,dawnsaber,spotted frostsaber,swift frostsaber,swift stormsaber,swift mistsaber).
The flying mounts = 7 (golden,ebon,snowy,swift blue,red,green,purple).

That is a total of 40 mounts.
Those are the "easy" ones.Now, i am a hunter and i dont have any extra mounts so:

Armored Brown Bear = 600g (with exalted rep with Kirin Tor).
Black War Bear = For The Alliance quest.
Black War Mammoth = 200 stone keeper's shards.
Blue,Green Quiraj Battle Tank = AQ drop.
Red Proto Drake = Glory Of The Hero achievement.
Bronze Drake = CoT drop, (also easy).
Swift Brewfest Ram, Great Brewfest Kodo = Brewfest (world event).
Silver Covenant Hippogryph = Exalted with the Silver Covenant, and 150 champion's seal's.
Albino Drake = Leading The Cavalry quest.

Those are my 51 mounts. Now, i only need 49 more, i started playing WoW from WotlK so the mounts i know are:

Red,Yellow Quiraj Battle Tanks = AQ drops.
Wooly Mammoth = 200 emblems of heroism.
Armored Snowy Gryphon = 1600g.
Traveler's Thundra Mammoth = 16000g.
Amani War Bear = drop.
Black,Twilight Drake = drop.
Rusted, Ironbound Drake = Glory Of The Ulduar Raider (in 3.3 patch these mounts will no longer be atameable).
Razzari Raptor = drop.
Blue Proto Drake = drop.
Green Proto Drake = revered rep with The Oracles, from the mysterious egg (2% chance).
Timelost Proto Drake = rare mob drop.
Red Drake = 1600g with exalted rep Wyrmrest Temple.
Raven Lord = not quite sure, but i think its from a quest when a druid is getting his flying form.
Battleground mounts = 5 (each requiers 30 marks from WG,AV,AB,EOTS).
I probably know a few more but cant remember them at the moment ( i am not counting the mounts from gamecards,blizzconn,and zebras etc..).
So, if i get all of these mounts that will be 72. So... 28 more to go!

I have 97 mounts atm (+2 more champion seals to reach 98 ... 1 run in Oculus using bronze drake to complete Glory To The Hero and if I borrow some 5k gold from a friend for Travelers Tundra Mammoth P /If I am not lucky in ZG and MgT/)
The SAD thing is that the dragonhawk is just 280% speed...since its not the easiest mount to obtain Blizz should rly think of making it 310% (@ least :-\\ )...
I dare to compare this one with the Violet Proto-Drake since they are both resource consuming and require persistency ... it`s just not fare that the crock-like drake is 310% and the butterfly is just 280% :-\',date:

This mount should be 310% and I just posted that on the blizz suggestion forum too . .. here is hoping.
I do like the look of the mount, but as alliance it is the only dragonhawk available to me, so I see where this would suck for horde. I would've pitched a fit if the 100 mount was another silly hippogryph or wyvern.

Just got it, realy disapointed its not 310%. I would have gathered 10 mounts plus to get a 310%, now i just regret the endless time i spent. I just dont get why hardcore mount collectors cant have nice 310% as a reward. And dont come saying it is about whats to come. There are many solutions to that like scaling the achivement and/or downgrading the mount (only) when the expansion comes. As an ocasional raider and pvper this should be my way of getting a rewarding 310%. Now im doing a pause in playing about as long as it took me to gather those 100 freaking mounts :( bb

According to the Blizz Chat Feed, looks like 310 flying will become a trainable system so your old mounts will fly faster. So I guess for those of you who have this, you can look forward to that? XD

Q: Do you intend to have all 280% flying mounts scale to 310% when a 310% mount is earned, or will only purchased mounts do so?
A: Our current plan, is that in Cataclysm, you can learn a new rank of flying that lets all flying mounts move at 310% (even current 280% mounts). That will probably be as fast as mounts will ever get. We don't like it that when you get a 310% mount that you stop using your old ones.

So is this mount usable in Dal like the Frostbrood Vanquishers and other similar mounts are? If it is not I just don't see a reason to spend the time and money getting this mount. It would be far easier for me to pay for a faction change and get the Sunreaver Dragonhawk which looks better and only take a few days of dailies to get. Half of the mounts you will pick up on the way to getting this mount look better than it in my opinion. Although the fact that this mount is a big waste of time means that most people wont be working to get it and therefore it is a very unique mount.

I got the mount today, ive created a mage on Shadowsing EU a week or so before Midsummer Festival 2009 and started with this in mind almost immediatly.

My collection will continue to grow. I dont have any raid-proto drakes (or any other than the red). My 100th mount was the grand ice mammoth (also my first mutli-man mount).

I expect Cata will add another level to this ahcieve ... I dunno Golden Dragonhawk for 200 mounts... would be nice. I do wish this was a 310% speed but tbh I aint complaining, too many trolls in the world already and Cata will fix the oversight imo.

Strange. I am on my armory page right now under the Achievement tab, General and it shows the Mountain of Mounts acp reward as the Red Dragonhawk.

Even more weird is I have already completed the acp for Mountain of Mounts months ago but it is greyed out on the Armory page. Must be a bug or something.

I'm the leader of a 70 twink guild and I was told that 115 mounts are available at 70. Can someone confirm this? I'm currently sitting on 60ish mounts and I'd. Really love to be the first 70 on my server with it. Please and thank you :) Rapter-Kilrogg

I was wondering now that all of the mounts are together if the 50 and 100 mount achievement have to be with one character or if it is a collection from all the characters. I got the 50 mount achievement before they changed things but it seems like I see a lot more albino drakes now.
