One of the promised multi-person mounts in WOTLK, this will set you back approximately 16,000g at exalted - 20k neutral. No riding training, the mount just costs that much.
Seems handy to sell greys, etc to while adventuring.

If you're willing to pay over 14000 gold for a mount, you probably don't really care about selling stuff to vendors. I mean, you're not gonna spend 14kg just so you can sell your grey stuff for 3g.

However if this thing sells ankhs and buff items, it's cool. Not sure I'll spend that much on it though.

Two vendors.

Gnome:
- General Goods (e.g. Vials, Fishing Attractors, Spices etc)
- Repair
- Poisons
- Reagents (e.g. Sacred Candles)

Draenei:
- More General Goods
- Arrows / Bullets (level 65 and 75)
- Food / Water / Alcohol (level 65 and 75)

Anyone can use the vendors. Even if they're not within your party. They seem to be just like the faction vendors standing in a capital city.

You can sell them items just like any other vendor.

Only downside is they are not faction affiliated meaning you won't gain the 10% saving you do if you're exalted. So people might still want to purchase bullets, poisons, and reagents from a "real" vendor just to save a little gold.

The big question: Are the vendors summonable inside instances?

If so, repair bots will be obsolete. Engineers will hate it, and everyone else will love it.

Also, is there any benefit to having passengers, other than letting them go make a sandwich while you drive? (Well, that and being cool.)

Looks a lot like the elephants from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. The 3 man mount is a very cool idea and I think it's cool that you can bring NPCs on the mount :D.

The 3 seats on this thing are originally taken up by: You and the two vendors, although you can choose to kick one of the vendors off if you want a passenger, but to get the vendors back you need to dismount and remount.

This is something that will be really useful on long quest sessions or long grinding sessions.

First, I assume you will still have the same aggro range as a low level player wandering among high level mobs.

But more importantly than that... Why taxi when you can just Mage Portal or Lock Summon?

Wrath comes out today, how can I even get into Dalaran to buy my Mammoth? It floats around and you need 77 to get cold weather flying... Mages cant port there until 74, so I will have to wait until a warlock is kind enough to bring me there.I farmed all that gold up, and I cant even get the thing tonight... thats lame.

Hi folks,
yesterday I bought this mount and took the chance to play some kind of taxi role in low level areas. I went to Stranglethorn and catched up someone who wanted to ride Tanaris. During that way I cought someone that wanted to reach feralas, so i took them for a ride. They were very pleased and impressed and enjoyed the ride. So i did. This mount is worth every penny of its cost, even for the fact that you have two vendors with you. My passengers gave me some gold for the ride and it was very funny.

And to clear something up here are some summarized facts about this mount:

What you need for this mount: The Wotlk expansion, 16-20k gold (depends on your Kirin Tor reputation), 150 riding, LvL 60
There is no level requirement to take a seat
The mammoth takes up to 3 persons, including yourself, resulting in 2 passengers max.
At neutral it costs 20.000 gold, 16.000g at exalted with Kirin Tor
Upon mounting you have two vendors by your side. One for things like reagents and repairs, one for things like food, water, arrows, ammunition, flint and tinder and a Draenic Silk Robes
To dismiss them you have three new Icons atop your action bars. Two to ask them to leave, one to unmount. If you can't see them you could press Ctrl+1 or Ctrl+2 by default.
You can dismiss your passengers by clicking the corresponding icon atop your action bar (left / right seat). Doing so will make them jump out of it. Even wenn falling, but thats not very kind, isn't it? :D
There is currently a bug that if you dismiss the food vendor first, someone mounts and then you dismiss the other NPC, no one else can take a ride. You will have to dismiss both NPCs or the repair NPC first.
No, the money for repairs do not go into your money bag ;)
~~Mounting up and down takes more time than with a usual mount (1-2 seconds)~~
Upon skinning, mining or casting that would usually unmount you automatically will not work on the mammoth. You will only get the message "You can't do this now". So if you're going to farm herbs, mines or something else another mount would be a better choice.
~~The mount has got 5342 HP~~
~~The mount itself is Level 80, so if you ride into a lvl80 mob and you are below the mounts level it will attack you. Otherwise it will attack the mount.~~
~~It seems that speed enhancing abilities like Aspect of the Pack will burst the mammoth's speed, making it the fastest 100% carrier you will see :)~~
~~Interesting: In duels the mount is taking damage when mounted.~~
It will transport the flag carrier in PvP without loosing the flag
~~You cannot be polymorphed while riding the mount~~
You can do any emote you can imagine while mounted, and so your passengers can do. If you dance, you and your passengers will stay dancing until canceled. Really cool!
~~The mammoth does not have any kind of "roar" emote if you press the space bar like the draenei elephant. If you stand still the mammoth just jumps.~~

Bought this for 18,999g at friendly with Kirin Tor.

It's essentially the coolest item I've ever owned in WoW. The only place I wouldn't use it is battlegrounds because of the slightly increased dismount time, also things you do that normally automatically dismount you do not work on this.

Is it worth the 20k? Absolutely!

The mount just seems to be mabey a "I am very rich" sign for everyone to see. Also the things you need to raid etc but you woulden't need those that offten unless you forgot your stuff, but you shoulden't if your a good raider. :)

I have to admit id love this thing and i've seen people wit it on my realm but come on 20,000g is just @#$%in stupid even wit the 10% price reduction wit an exalted rep this thing will still set u bak 18,000g(really aint worth it just to have 2 vendors wit u)

Since it's usable at lvl 60 it's great for lvling you second char in style, i got one for my lvl 60 mage yesterday and it's highly recommended, then again i had 50k+ to my name =))

Some people probably bought this without fully taking into account its full potential and practicality.

If your a guild master, or someone in general who helps lower levels to get to 60 (where they can then purchase their own 100% land mounts), then this mount is a real time saver.

There is nothing worse than being asked to help out, and then waiting 15mins for them to arrive at the location.

Onboard vendors and repairs, srsly make this mount a must have for any serious player. Rather than carting your greens and quest rewards around till you hit a vendor. Everyone including you can utilize this mount.
Including any dungeon runs you do. When permitted you can mount up in an instance and use this also.

(I realize its not actually in the mount classification, but as it appears to be a land mount.. thats how I see it)

A couple more tips for those of you with this mount: you can vendor and repair while riding this mount, so if you have a long run, you can set your autorun and then do some vendoring and repairing without losing time. Also, if bag space is tight, and provided you don't log out, you can use the mount vendors' buy back page to store some extra items. Just sell the item to the vendor and then buy it back later for the same price. While I would not recommend doing this with any valuable items just in case you forget or get knocked offline, it is useful in a pinch.

I love what this mount can do.

I am bloody farming lots of gold on my DK just to get this mount for my 69 Semi-Twink Hunter Main so that I can become the BG APC :D The fact that apparently I can carry the Flag Carrier while on this beast makes it even more lucrative. In my own opinion, I'd say this is going to be worth every little bit of gold I get.

It's also gonna look awesome on the 69 BM Hunter PvP Video that I plan to make, too :D

Since patch 3.1, the mount is no longer a vehicle and thus you take fall-damage. It's now a mount + vendors (no special features apart from that). You can no longer target it either, it directly targets the main rider as all other mounts.

Patch 3.1 changed this mount.
Pros:
- Mount speed buffs now affect the mount.
- The mount/dismount delay and animations have been removed.
- Casting a spell while mounted instantly dismounts you like regular mounts.

Nerfs:
- You're no longer dismounted 2 feet to the left anymore. So no more jumping past/into walls and objects.
- You can no longer /follow your self and twitch back and forth rapidly.
- /following a passenger no longer causes you to spin rapidly.
- The mount's no longer a vehicle, it can't be attacked/stunned anymore.
- You can't keep driving when stunned/polymorphed/iceblocked.
- You now take fall damage on this mount.
- You get caught on low ceilings now. Can't enter SW AH and bank w/o needing to dismount first.

The fun/buggy stuff has been removed. It's just a regular mount with vendors now. :-(

Bah...... the no fall damage was one of THE best perks of having this mount.

Blizz, why do you have to ruin the fun of players who pay TWENTY THOUSAND FREAKING GOLD to have one of these mounts?

I LOVED using this thing when I was doing the Wintergrasp gathering daily quests, since I can't use a flyer, it made getting around so much better.... not much point to it now. I'd almost rather stick to my Talbuk.

The only thing that would make this mount better is a third seat for a banker, and maybe a fourth seat for an auction house auctioneer! Never have to visit a town again! (well, maybe, if you could mount a mailbox between the tusks...)

I decided to take a break from raiding after selling an expensive item at the auction house, in an attempt to save money for this...more of a personal challenge since it is so expensive even with Exalted rep.

It took me about three weeks of serious grinding for gold to get this for my Rogue, but it was worth it.

No more having to fly somewhere to buy poisons.

I can vendor items "on-site", especially helpful when running lower level instances for rep or achievement points.

I can assist low ranking guild members who are trying to power level by giving two of them a ride and then helping them with their quests. Really helpful for those who aren't high enough to obtain a mount too. And it might also help them attain some exploration achievements more quickly.

I can help my guild or PUG repair/vendor, etc. without needing an Engineer to pop a bot, or wait while one person tries to find the nearest repair vendor. May be particularly useful, for example, for the Culling of Stratholme (non-timed run), OS, etc.

I would suggest one improvement, however. When you summon this mount/pet, an "overhead view" of the mammoth is placed near the upper right hand portion of your screen...and it doesn't appear that there is any way to drag it to another location. In my case, because of some bar mods, I had to move some UI bars around so that the mammoth icon (which is a bit large) wouldn't overlay something. Minor issue, but perhaps Blizz will allow moving it with the next minor patch (I hope).

What I am not going to do is jump on this mammoth at every opportunity just to impress others. Of course, if there are some horde toons around...I may have to stomp them... :)

Note that when you dismount and the mammoth vanishes, the 2 vendors dismount with you. (This can give you a heart attack if you've just found a nice node and suddenly there are 2 characters on either side of you when you get off to mine it.) They then say a random line before fading away.

Gnimo in particular says wistfully, "Nobody loves Gnimo..."

I'm planning to get this, I only need to save another 3K gold or so. (Well, "only" 3,000 gold is still a lot, but...) I spend so much time on my main working on esoteric achievements in the old world that this could be really helpful. And, of course, it's cool.

There's a couple things I'm curious about first, though: what if you get attacked? I see upthread where people are saying that as of 3.1 it's a normal mount, not a vehicle any more. OK, but does riding such a huge mount give you a bigger hitbox than usual? That could be unsafe. And what happens to a passenger if he gets attacked? Does a lower level player have his usual aggro radius while a passenger? I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) that if the driver gets dazed the mount vanishes just like a normal mount, but what if a passenger gets attacked and dazed? How about if a passenger gets crowd controlled, or killed? It would be best if they stayed mounted even if dead so you could dismount and rez them at your leisure in a safe place, but that seems unlikely.

Also, how big is the thing? I mean, I've seen people riding them and I think that graphically they're a little bigger than the other mammoths out there, but I'm wondering about game mechanics. Someone said you can't ride it into the SW auction house any more. What else can't you ride it into? My NE on a bear can't ride into the SW auction house or bank, but he can ride into most (all?) Dalaran shops. Will he be able to ride into them when mounted on this?

Times have been good for Maolrubha. The speculative arms and armor market, specifically, have given him a certain standing. Yes, it meant a lot of time mucking around the Auction House. Yes, there have been losses. Who would have known that the 5 Ring wouldn't sell - just for curiosity's sake if nothing else? And it's been a hard grind. Long hours, cross checking prices, anticipating new gem and material trends. But it's been worth it. Maolrubha has made a hell of a lot of money. And it's time for him to take a break.

So he went to Dalaran - a place where he always felt slightly uncomfortable - and purchased himself a mammoth. And now? He's going on an expedition.

Out into the wilds of Silithus, perhaps. He's been meaning to get back there for years. Certainly a few trips back up to Stratholme - there's nothing more relaxing for a dwarf paladin than undead slaughter. And the Baron remains stingy with his unfinished business. Perhaps down to Stranglethorn Vale to corpsecamp some nubs. Who knows?

But he's not going to step foot inside a city, and he's sure as hell not getting back onto a gryphon, for a good long while. Nope - just Maolrubha, his mammoth, his two merchant friends, a worg pup and a fishing pole. Time to live from the land for a while. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Stormwind. Time for a vacation.

If you don't hear back from Maolrubha, don't worry. He's out there somewhere. On his mammoth.

I think it should be noted that while it can make traveling in cities difficult, the height provided allows one to run through small rivers and streams that a smaller mount would otherwise swim (and thus slow down to swim speed).

The downside to getting any of these passenger mounts is there'd be no point to use any of my other mounts ever again. And variety is the spice of life for me. So no thanks. Cool to ride in though when people do use em.

For those of you who don't like where the "aerial view" is located, there are addons available which can move it to wherever you please.
These include Capping Battleground Timers and Chinchilla Minimap. I'm sure there are others aswell.

Vendors will not appear if you mount this in a city that is currently being invaded by elementals (pre-Cataclysm event). Didn't pay 16k to get two cowards :( one is even a machine!

Seeing as no one has mentioned it I thought I would, there is the option to have a flying version of this mount with a little different skin, once you start to work for the Netherwing faction in outlands all you need to do is mount up and your mammoth becomes a netherdrake with both Hakmud and Gnimo hanging below your drakes claws, this seems to be a new glitch / feature since patch 4.0.x. Adding a screenshot.

TESTED! First and probably only ever 3 player flying mount, so very stoked, very cool.

PLUMMETED! Blizz also seems to have modified how it handles the mounts when you exit the area, you now turn back into whatever mount it was before the disguise. So long story short, my dumbo lost his magic feather half way back and we plummeted.

With the lack of repair locations within/near Cata raids, this is probably the best investment anyone can make right now to help their raiding buddies. Seems that not many people are doing engineering right now so I'm seeing less and less Jeeves. Well worth the 16-20k gold.... I'm definitely picking this up before I get a Vial of The Sands.

You get an icon when you mount, that appears just below your mini map. It is shaped like the Mammoth and has a green dot in each passenger seat that lights when full. If you right click on the dot, you will have the option of ejecting passenger.

.Drink a bottle of Darkmoon Firewater, equip Burgy Blackhearts Handsome Hat and then summon this already huge mammoth mount, and see how much bigger you become! Or drink some Noggenfogger and ride around on a mini mammoth!

As of patch 4.3.3 this mount can be bought from Mei Francis, who is a part of the Kirin Tor faction. Normally this mount costs around 20.000 gold, but once you reach exalted you can get it for 14.000 gold.
If this has something to do with being in a guild, the amount of gold might change.
In order to ride this mount you must have Journeyman Riding, available at level 40.

I generally use this (when able to mount) when I'm trying to clear up bag space, far from a city (like in a dungeon). Other items you could use for the same purpose include:

/ Guild Herald, if the requirements to buy have been met.
Argent Gruntling / Argent Squire, if you have a Argent Pony Bridle.
Jeeves, if you're an engineer / one's present.
Mobile Banking, if your guild's high enough lvl.

I didn't see anyone mention it, but this Gnimo bot is annoying as hell. Not sure why the hell blizz made it that way. It seems they go out of the way sometimes to make certain things flawed in some way. Gnimo will make his bot sound every single time you sell something. Maybe not a huge deal for most, and not a killer in any way, just really annoying. If your bags fill fast and you have lots to sell, you'll most likely do the quick repair on him, then sell all your loot to his side kick. I always bring it out in raids as well, and even when others are selling things, you hear that idiot bot noise, per sale... If you don't have the mount and not sure what I mean, try and imagine any NPC saying something EVERY time you sell something to them. So a filled 20 slot bag would be constant "Well met", "Hello", Hi There", "Good Day", etc. There's no difference and after wanting this mount for some time, it's really annoying, especially in raids when a lot of people are selling crap.

One cool note is, if you use a port from an NPC to send you to another place in the instance (such as AQ40), only the driver need request it (select it) and the passengers will get ported with you as well. Sadly that's not the case with everything. Going into an instance with passengers will drop them off at the entrance without going in and they'll need to on their own. It's weird how blizz never makes things the same for everything. I mean, most portals like a mage portal for instance, you can click mounted and away you go, but there are some you can't. Dalaran's SW or Org portal you can click also mounted, but ones like the Isle portal in Shatt, it will just say the dumb "You are mounted" crap. Anywho, being a triple boxer I wish the passengers weren't ejected when entering instances, but was glad to see what I did just now in AQ40. Now if bliz were more consistent, then it would be perfect.

This mount was originally NOT going to be on the list of account-wide mounts in Mists of Pandaria. However, a decision was quite recently made to change this:

I've never been much into achievement whoring or vanity items but I did get this mount a couple weeks ago for a couple reasons. First and most importantly, the repair bot. Any dedicated "wow-er" needs this mount so that you can repair at any time and don't have to port back to town. It's great for raids, questing, etc. Especially grinding (like when I kill mobs trying to get a crusader enchant formula to drop). Your bags can quickly fill up and this lets you sell all that junk so you don't have to constantly delete items. A huge plus. The other vendor is pretty useless now, as he only sells wrath items like food/drink etc but I'm hoping that he will be updated at some other time which would be amazing.

The other reason is that it's a 3 person mount. I made a macro:

/run EjectPassengerFromSeat(1) EjectPassengerFromSeat(2)

Which, when pressed, will kick out both vendors and allow your buddies to hop on. You must do this every time you mount as the vendors always appear. I was kinda hoping you could adjust the settings, so that only the repair bot would deploy but no luck. I saw some macros which claim to kick them out automatically when you mount but they didn't work for me. Plus, it's ok because some people might always get on who you don't want, like if you are doing BG's with your 2 friends and you only want those guys with you. You can click on the mount and eject any passenger at anytime, though.

My cons about this mount are:
It's retardedly expensive (14k with guild perk and rep bonus). The rep is amazingly easy to get, do not grind for it. Simply go to the vendor in dalaran (Arcanist Miluria) and buy the kirin tor (I believe) rep tokens. They are dirt cheap,16 justice points. Even with that, 14k is a hefty chunk of gold for a mount but given the perks I think it's worth it. There aren't many multiple person mounts and no other ones with vendors too so this one is a must have.

Size. It's extremely large which I like when riding around but in town it is a hassle. You get stuck on every doorway which is a pretty big pain.

I'm very pleased with this mount but it could definitely be better if you could adjust the vendor spawns (only spawn repair guy), the other one sold relevant food/drink, could ride through doorways, etc. but all in all, the best mount in the game as far as functionality goes. Hope it helps.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, you do not get repair discounts with the mount. Normal repair costs apply and you miss out on the 20%(?) discount with exalted. This too, should be changed I think; the vendor should go by your home town rep. I get guild repairs anyway but it'd be nice to not be charged a small "premium" for using the mount repair. Even considering this, it's a very small and insignificant note.

Equivalent for Mists of Pandaria (after no new mount for 3 people in Cataclysm) is Grand Expedition Yak

I think this one will be popular for its unique design, but a little unpopular for its price of 120 000g (Should be the same as 20k was in WOTLK)

Keep in mind if you play both factions that while the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth is account wide, it will only be for the original faction you brought it for.

For example, my Horde Paladin had brought a TTM back in Wrath, and that was the only TTM I ever brought. Now that 5.0 has hit, all of my Horde characters have access to the mount at level 40, but it does not even appear for any of my Alliance characters. It's the same story for the Mekgineers Chopper/Mechano-Hog.

It seems that while this mount is account bound now, it is shared only with your Alliance toons. If you have this version only, it will NOT be available on any horde toons you may have.

As of patch 5.0.4 the repair vendor now sells the Dust of Disappearance and the level 86 and above Tome of the Clear Mind for changing your skills so no more going back to a main city to change you skills or wasting a slot in your bags

As of patch 5.0.4 and account-wide mounts, I assumed that it would be available on my horde toons (originally bought it on alliance side), but I don't see it in my mount list. I would think it would be the same, but just be the opposite faction version, like the 100 mount reward dragonhawk which works beautifully on both sides.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

With patch 5.0, even though most mounts are account wide, the Horde equivalent of this will not show up on your Horde characters unless you buy it on Horde.

I was very disappointed to buy the Alliance equivalent on my (Alliance) main, but not have it show up on my mid-level Horde alt.

It appears that this mount is faction specific. This means that you can only use the mount on the faction where you obtained it. A quick way to tell if the mount is faction specific, is to look at the items tooltip. It should say something like this "Races: Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Gnome, Draenei, Worgen". If you would like to use this mount on a character of the opposite faction, you must obtain it on that faction.

As of 5.0.5b, you no longer have to worry about the mount not transferring from one faction to another. If you have already faction changed, open a ticket and a GM will add the mount to your tab.

There are two things in this life that I don't regret: one of them was grinding Kaluak reputation and getting my Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole which is the ultimate tool for Pandaria pre-flight circunavigation (and pesky undead PVP avoidance, why not?). And the other will be getting enough money to buy this mount and never, ever, again using a hearthstone just to get some repairs mid-raid.

Plus being a dwarf I can walk instead of swim in most of the shores of Krasarang Wilds. For the ultimate humiliation, even when swimming mounted I still get the "breathing" timer bar. Not on any Mammoths, no sir!

Give it wings... and you won't ever buy another mount. Right now, a ground one, for practicality, at least, you won't.

One of these and a bike can carry a 5 man-party... 2 of these and you do keep the repair bot...

I'd say it ties with the chopper on the coolness-practical factor.

To my surprise, I can use my Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth on my level 20 Horde Pandaren, where all other characters on this realm are Alliance.

For Alliance characters, the two vendors on the mammoth's side seats are Gnimo (trade goods and repairs) and Hakmud of Argus (food & drink, plus a role-playing robe, Draenic Silk Robes).

For Horde characters, the vendors are: Drix Blackwrench (trade goods and repairs) and Mojodishu (food & drink). (Strictly speaking, the item for that mammoth is Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, but if you buy the reins on any character, every one of your characters will have the faction-appropriate version.)

Hi,

I just did the kirin tor rep grind up to exalted, so a few weeks after the launch of 6.0.2. First a few quests in Amber ledge and then a tour of Northrend doing all the WOTLK instances on heroic mode. They all give decent amount of rep. I also did Halls of lightning in normal mode a few times. It does give rep but much less. Mount costs 20.000 with no rep. 17.000 at revered and 16.000 at exalted.
