Before 3.0.8 this mount was significantly smaller than the Reins of the Armored Brown Bear and Reins of the Black War Bear.

But in 3.0.8 this mount was changed to the same size as the other two bears.

I've the same problem with the daylies..

The first day I was able to pick up only one dayli from her.
The second day I was able to pick up only two daylies from her.
The third day I'm still able to pick up only two daylies, but they changed from the two I've done yesterday.

I'm going to complete every quest in SP to see if something changes or if it's just possible to pick up only 2 quests per day.

Just did my first 2 dailies, got the mount on second daily. Seems pretty rare on my server but I don't know the drop rate.

Now I just need the time-lost proto-drake and I will have 2 cool mounts that don't require me to roll against 25 other people for them.

I was able to get 2 dailys, though I finished questing in storm peaks about 2 days ago.

Got this on my very first daily quest.
I am level 79 so you don't need to be 80 to be able to do the daily quests, all you need to do is to have done all other quests in order to "unlock" this.

I found this precious in a bag after doing defending your title for the first time. i was able to take the quest at the same time as i was able to take the quest to kill those victorious challengers for the first time. ( as a level 77 death knight).

In case anyone is curious as to just how small this bear used to be in comparison to the other bear mounts, it was the same size as a level 80 hunter pet bear.

I've spoken to a GM about the scaling issue, he said that it is a known issue that they are looking to sort out (as they always do), hopefully they'll sort the scaling on my Bronze Drake as well.

As a tauren, sitting on this bear is a bit like a gnome riding baby blizzard bear, until then I'll sit on my black war mammoth (which is roughly the size of Org).

There are 4 daily quests which can award this bag/chance for the polar bear mount. Each one is opened by completing different quest chains in the area. The Aberrations Must Die quest is available every day. The other 3 are a random set, 1 of the set is available per day. If you haven't opened up the chosen one for that day, you will only be able to do the Aberrations quest, otherwise you will have 2 available per day.

REALLY SMALL - Pictures do it NO justice. I Petitioned this, and the GM said they are planning on fixing it in a future patch, because its a scale issue right now.

This has been confirmed for 3.0.8. The white Polar Bear mount is now the proper (larger) size.

Personally I like the smaller size, so I'm quite disappointed with this news.

So I was doing my brothers dailies while he was away (I kept the money and he got the reputation, as me being resto and didn't have perscription up at the moment).

It was my second day doing dailies on his account, and the second Brunnhildar quest.

When I opened the !@%# container I saw a ^&*!ing blueprint %^&* ass mount!
-Again, on my goddamn brothers character!

It is possible to continue to recieve this even after you get it the first time, I do the quests there as part of my daily gold grind and the mount was just a bonus. I just got another one which of course is useless to me and is in place of the non-gold item which you usually get.

i find that this drop rate seems a tad low. i don't do these daily's everyday and I have had it drop twice which made me wish it a BOA item.

This mount is a 1% drop rate from the Hyldnir Spoils bag obtained from completing dailies handed out by Gretta the Arbiter in Brunnhildar Village.

She gives a player 2 dailies at a time from a pool of the following daily quests:

-The Aberrations Must Die
-Maintaining Discipline
-Defending Your Title
-Back to the Pit

EDIT: Some days you only can get one daily.

rofl! as soon i knew i could get this mount from those bags u get form dailys a did a daily, and guess what? i got it the 1st daily i did! i think that im just one very lucky bastard... one bad thing is i can only brag with it in dala and in other horde caps cause why using a ground mount with the comfort having a flying mount... good luck mateys in gettting the same lucky bag as i had!

You get 2 dailys each day. It would take a year of doing the dailys every day to have it almost guaranteed drop.

This mount is still significantly smaller than other bear mounts and other mounts in general. While this is frustrating to some people, as someone who plays a Tauren, I find it decidedly convenient. I can finally travel through doorways without getting stuck. Don't get my wrong, I like my Black War Mammoth, which is so large when mounted by a Tauren that it is necessary to dismount while crossing the thandol span between arathi and the wetlands. If you play a Tauren and you want to travel through some smaller sized passages while mounted, this is the mount for you. True, larger mounts are more impressive and are even more useful when traveling through swampy areas, but this thing is just downright practical for any Tauren to own. It is my new everyday land mount.

EDIT: Since this mount had it's size increases in 3.0.8, I have found it useful to use a riding wolf from Orgrimar (previously unavailable to Taurens). It's not quite as useful as the smaller version of the polar bear mount was, but it's a decent compromise. Just a heads up for anyone looking to find a smaller mount.

Everyone relax, this does NOT have a drop rate of <1%, wowhead has only seen it come out of <1% of the Spoils opened because once someone gets it they will never see it drop again even if it would have. Most people have reported it dropping very quickly so it more likely has a drop rate between 5 and 15%. This mount is a gift to everyone who always wanted a bear mount and polar bear mounts were promised for Wrath. You don't see very many of these because not too many people realize that dailies unlock there and there are also a lot of other new mounts people are galavanting around on. So chill, it won't take you a year, just hit up these dailies whenever you do your Sons of Hodir ones until you get your drop. I got mine after 3 or 4 days and I'm very disappointed they're injecting the little guy with Growth Hormone.

I have been wondering why Blizzard made this mistake of making this mount smaller than the others? One would think this wouldn't happen because they would scale them to the same size as the other bear mounts.
I have a thought that it might be in some way connected with the size issue of mounts while in Brunnhildar Village while transformed into one of the Brunhildar warriors. when riding the mount for the quest Back to the Pit the mount is scaled to size where as all other mounts are quite smaller. Has anyone used the polarbear mount while in the Brunnhildar Village? does it look normal or does it appear to be even smaller?

After some research i'm convinced that this mount can only be obtained from the Spoils when you turn in the quest Back to the Pit. Yesterday there was this quest on my server and one of my guildmates obtained it, and all the other people that already obtained it got theirs always when there was this quest.
I'm thinking this because blizz already did a similar thing with outland fishing quests where you could obtain the crocolisk pet only when there was the specific daily quest Crocolisk in the City.

I just got this mount today. I was actually very surprised because I was just doing the daily for a little extra cash in my pocket.

I got it my third time doing dailies from there. I heard that there is 4 different dailies but so far, my best record was 2 a day.

I do think this mount is the best looking of the bears and it is smaller than the other ones but, the size will be corrected in patch 3.0.8

Yeah.. a good 6ish weeks of doing the dailies every day and twice on tuesdays (3 am reset + tuesday maintenence = 2x the dailies) and I still don't have it.. told my little brother about it a few weeks ago and he got it his first daily... very frusterating indeed.

I have a question for the people that have obtained this. I often get the error message "You do not meet the requirements for this quest." whenever I turn in one of the dailies (I still get the spoils sack). Some of the comments on those dailies say that this is a minor bug, and means nothing, but I have yet to get the polar bear. Has anybody that's experienced this error message, also gotten the mount to drop? Sometimes I wonder if there's a hidden restriction that I'm not meeting, that's preventing the bear from dropping for me. Just need to know if there's any validity to my theory.

Random loot is random.

I did the dailies for around five weeks on my Paladin, religiously. That's around 35 days with one to two dailies every day, so around 50-60 total I'm estimating. Nothing.

I did one of the dailies for the very first time on my Priest and got it.

So, I really can't say it any better than the old mantra: random loot is random.

lets do this assuming u can have 4 bags per day.. n lets c wats the chance to get mount PER day..

chance not to get mount is: (note 0.8% = chance of getting mount)

100-0.8=99.2% (0.992)

chance to get mount per day (assuming 4 bags):

1-0.992^4=0.031618043904 (3.16%)

chance to get mount in 7 days (1 week):
since u have 3.16% chance to get.. u still have 100-3.16=96.84% (0.9684) not to get mount

1-0.9684^7=0.2013004028392922007448109056 (20.13%)

note im calculating to the power of 4.. that is because im calculating using the value i got for the 1 week .. and we are now calculating for a month (4weeks)

well you see it would take 6months to have a near 100% chance @ 4 bags a day to be guaranteed a mount in one of those bags.

EDIT: according to other postes.. its not possible to get more then 2 bags PER day & this is just calculations to the quotes numbers (stating 4bags).. as 2bags a day will take longer then 6months to be nearly guaranteed a 100% chance that one bag will contain a mount

After this last patch they made this mount's size "proper" as to not be so small anymore.

However, with my human this mount is smaller than gnomes with the same mount.
I noticed also that I can't spacebar and vocalize the bear.

Can anyone confirm this?

As of patch 3.0.8, you will only receive ONE daily from Greta.

About two months of trying to get this mount, still no luck; now with this new patch reducing the daily count to one, obtaining this mount will be much harder.

I guess Blizzard doesn't want me to get this mount.

Been doing the daily in Brunnhildar for a couple of weeks now and have only ever had one quest offered. I sometimes get the quest fail noise and "You do not meet the requirements....." when I hand in the daily. I believe she is supposed to sometimes offer a second quest, but if the magic of Blizz decides to offer the same quest again then it fails, as you cannot do the same daily twice. That's what gives the error message and the quest failure noise.

And no, I haven't found the mount!

The bear retains its small size as long as you are in the village where you get the quests; but as soon as the illusion effect on you goes away the bear mount becomes normal size, which is very disappointing.

Something about riding around on an armored polarbear makes you feel that much more like a Champion of the Frozen Wastes.

Of course what all of you seem to be forgetting about the drop rate and percentages of getting and drop mount is the fact that WoW and all mechanical and computer systems rely on expressions and algorithims to determine the percentages for the items drop rates and everything else that is "random" in games. And what I hope all of you know is that no computer or expression for these senarrios is truly random, patterns can and will occur. So keep in mind that while 1% is a close estimate, it is not completely accurate.

I was doing these dailies and quests so I could get though the chain and start getting rep with the Sons of Hodir.
I was doing it along with three others though we were not in group. After doing all the quests and unlocking the first daily defending your title we all set off to do it. You'd imagine our shock when after opening my very first bag there the mount was! I have screenshot's as proof and the other players were there to see me learn and summon it for the first time. We were all shocked!

I did this quest every day since November. Yesterday, I finally got it. I kept getting the "you don't meet the requirements message too" on the Back to the Pit Quest, but I got it in my bag after doing the destroy the aberrations quest. It's my favorite mount... I was so sick of doing those quests. Keep trying, it will drop eventually.

You have given me hope to keep trying. I too have done this almost daily since leveling as fast as I could to reach a high enough level to begin this torture! Its been so long and still no Polar Bear. One person I know has gotten four. But I'll keep going. Eventually the quest giver may tire of being pelted with snowballs and hand over those reins. If I could throw the cheese and water I would do the same hehe.

I am from US - Tichondrius and I've only been getting one daily, every single day since mid-December. After doing all the quests from Brunnhildar I was getting Aberrations every day with one of the others being random. One day I went out to do them and only got one.

Having asked the zone and guild members, I found I was not the only one who was only getting offered one and it's been like this for a long time. I run this daily every day without fail on two characters and since that day I have not gotten more than one daily.

I've talked with several people in and out of guild and they too have not gotten more then one a day for a long time.

Has anyone else experienced this on other servers?

While I agree with Admon's analysis above, perhaps this is a more generally accessible way to think about it.

If the rate of the event (getting the item) is 1 out of 100 (1%). The probability of the event not happening in any one chance (getting the bag) is 100% - 1% = 99%. This means that the probability of the event not happening in any one time is 99%.

The probability of the event not happening in two chances is .99 x .99 = .98 -- therefore the probability of the event happening in two chances is 1-.98 = .02 (2%)

The probability of it not happening in 10 events is .99^10 = .904 -- therefore the probability of the event happening is 1-.904 = .096 (9.6%)

The probability of the event not happening in 100 chances is .99^100 = .366 -- therefore the probability of the event happening in 100 chances is 1-.366 = 63.4%

Consistent with what the previous poster suggested, there is no number of chances that guarantees that it will load. There are numbers that make it not loading improbable.

The website won't let me upload atm for some reason but I got my second mount today after getting my first only 3 days ago. Since it's BoP the second was useless and I cried for everyone trying to get it as I deleted it. :(

first of all. you will need to do the prequest to get this mount. it starts at some female viking at the cave to Brunnhildar.

ones done this you can start. do every daily, every day and eventually you will get it.
it took me like 20 bags. thats like 15 days of doing daily's to get it.

hang in there farmers. its a lonely existence. but if you want somethin you'll have to work for it ;)

ALSO: please react to my post on the world of warcraft europe forums. i vote for that they call this mount ''Brunnhildar Polar Bear'' or Hildnyr Polar bear'' beqause i find White Polar Bear Mount a very boring name!

Ok i may be wrong but after 100 chances, you still will only have a 1% chance. Correct me if need be but if you did it 10000 times it would still be a 1% drop chance.

I will past a post I made earlier. ~1% my @ $$.

I started keeping track.....after a long while, the number indicate what I had been thinking up to when I started keeping track. When starting a daily or what every that involved a luck bag, I always knew which of my toons would get it before the others.

In reference to what drops out of bags in game, i have been informed by blue that it is completely random.

I am gonna call shenanigans on that.

I have a few characters that i do dailies on. My main raiding toon, which is the one i post with has EXTREMELY bad luck on ingame luck bags. I honestly didnt think I would ever come to post this complaint but, wow, its starting to become too much. I have been keeping track as an experiment when the fishing daily was added. I decided to do this based on the trend that I was starting to see between my toons.

This toon: 88% of the bags have had Useless glass pieces of all colors along with the deviate fish and sometimes a glow worm. This is the same toon that has done the Brunn daily everyday since the first week of Dec. 2008 (missed 4 days total spread through the time) and still no white bear mount. 5628 fish from solid blocks of time farming the turtle and no drop. This does not include fish i catch when i see a pool during dailys.

One of my other toons: 31% of the bags have had useless glass of various colors. Most bags have had a good vendor item. Plus many with the other stuff. This toon has everything but the tiff pole. This toon got the Brunn mount on the 6th time doing the daily. This toon got the turtle while doing a fishing daily.

Yet another toon:47% of the bags have had useless glass of various colors. Bear mount on 16th time doing the Brunn daily.

What I'm getting at.....I would really love to see the code or Random Number generator that decides this stuff. If it is so random, it seems the numbers would be closer over the length of time I have done this.

ive been doing these dailies well over 100 times so far and i have yet to get the mount drop >< some times i wonder if the quest giver is glitching cause when i turn in quest she still gives me the bag but it will make the sound like my quest log is full (but its not) i still get to turn it in and get reward just never a bear in the bag. anyone else getting the sound effect when they turn in quest ? im sure its just in my head, but im getting tired of doing these stupid dailies and really need this mount for my 100 mounts...setting at 82 so far.

I read this post yesterday because I saw the white polar bear mount in Dalaran and loved it and wanted to know how to obtain it. So I did the daily last night, received my Hyldnir Spoils, and ... HOLY CRAP... the Reins of the White Polar Bear were inside. I was floored. I thought it would take me months of trying as well. But nope... one shotted.

So for all of you wondering if this thing does drop... miracles do happen. Just keep trying. I was just lucky I only had to try once.

Makes up for the all the damn eggs I've been buying to try to get the damn Green Proto Drake.

This is my lucky mount. I was stuck at 49 mounts for the albino drake achiv, so i dicided to go here just to see if the mount would drop. Guess what happened :D.

I have been doing this for a total of more or less seven months now, and i still havent seen it. Guess Gnomes are to small to ride fluffy bears or some. Still doing the daily everyday, sometime it must drop, hopefully.

I felt kinda bad. Didn't realize there were dailies for this. Only had one available to me, to defeat 6 Victorius Challengers. Did the daily, and pulled the Reins out of it. Guess I don't need to do this daily again. Told my guildmates about it, they threatened to /gkick me if it happened again. :(

The chance you get the mount wont ever change, everytime you get a new bag youre chance stays 1% doesnt matter how many bags you opened before it, but the chance you dont got it after opening alot bags ofcourse is smaller but the droprate wil never become 100% even when you open 50.000.000.000 bags

For those whom Lady Luck has not knocked your door yet, try gamble your luck with this method of mine (let me warn you, it's not guaranteed, and it does NOT change the drop rate, but it doesn't hurt to try either):

do the daily quest from Gretta.
return it and get the Hyldnir Spoils.
don't open it yet, save it until you have 5-10 bags.
when your patience runs out and you can't stand seeing those idling spoils in your backpack, prepare yourself!
eat a Tasty Cupcake to gain confidence (comedy purpose, you can skip it).
hold your breath, open all those spoils as fast as you open your Christmas presents.
with luck, the purple thing will appear in your loot table. If it doesn't, curse me with all your heart's content :D.

I was farming for this mount for 2 months, until I decided to do this and thank gods, it actually dropped! I did it with 5 spoils in my pack, it dropped in the 3rd one.
* Note: opening all those spoils at the same time does NOT mean the mount drop rate increases, it is STILL ~1% for each spoil, and you STILL have to push your luck. However, I find it less desperate than opening the spoil immediately after receiving it and get disappointed every time. As time flows, the desperation rises, you all know it.

Ok, the probability chances for the average Joe. Doing the daily every day does NOT increase the percentage chance of the mount dropping. If you do the daily every day, your chance stays at 1%. However, you will have gotten more chances to open the bag, for that one percent to happen. So, in short, do the damned daily.

It won't let me reply to an earlier comment yet, but I too was having Gretta refuse to give me the daily for a little while. Came here and Doomzday's advice to go do the quest http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12925 worked. As soon as I got back and turned it in, Gretta had a daily for me again.

I have been plugging away at this for 3 weeks with 2 toons every day, no luck. Either blizz hates me or I used up all my luck getting the blue drake out of oculus last year. Now I get snowballs and yeti cheese

UPDATE 3/31 landed mount on one toon after not doing daily for a couple of weeks, awesome mount I love it. Don't give up, if anything maybe take a few days off from it and then come back if ur not having luck

I don't know if its just me, but every time I get one of these rare mounts for the first time, I see it drop all the time thereafter. Example, Swift White Hawkstrider I farmed for about a year and a half from the time I started playing until Cata came out. Once I got it to drop, on my main toon at the time (this was going on 3 years ago), every other toon I ran Magisters' Terrace on, it dropped. Most of them the first time in the instance. I ran my Warrior through at level 81 for it's first time, it dropped. Same with my Priest, and my Lock, etc. Same thing with Reins of the White Polar Bear. This was actually one of the best looking ground mounts in the game in my opinion when I first started, I was in love with it. I started farming it and that's what lead me to do other mounts like the Strider, Raven Lord, etc. When I FINALLY got it do drop about 8 months to a year a go, I then proceeded to get it on every other toon that was able to do the daily, and again, most on the first try. My Pally just got it tonight, after 3 attempts since my first one has dropped. I have 10 85s. Of those 10 85s, 9 have Swift White Hawkstrider, and the 4 toons that have the daily unlocked all have Reins of the White Polar Bear. This has happened to me with multiple rare mounts. I don't know I know if it's just me or if others have had similar experiences.

I go so far as when my toons first get of level, I go straight to Magisters' Terrace so that I can have a "cool" mount to ride instead of a gryphon or a horse, because I know it's going to drop 99% of the time.

My best advice: keep at it; once you have one, you might have my luck and get as many as you want. ^_^

Reins of the White Polar Bear is a 1% drop chance from Hyldnir Spoils. Hyldnir Spoils is a reward from the daily provided by Gretta the Arbiter in the Storm Peaks. You will not have the daily until you have completed all the quests in Brunnhildar. Hyldnir Spoils doesn't drop anything good but a handful of gold, and the mount. Other things it contains: Snowball, Mountain Water, and Salted Yeti Cheese. Good luck farming!

(The little bit of information I have provided has been researched, but I'm just a human after all. If I made a mistake or anything in the above paragraph is incorrect, please politely correct me!)

You also have a chance of receiving this item in a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries. You can get the Satchel by que'ing for a Cata Heroic Dungeon by yourself only when the Dungeon Finder shows that you can get the Satchel. Also, now available in mists dungeons.

if you're on the quest for this mount, make sure that when you enter the village, you are not on your sandstone drake (Vial of Sands) you can't transform into a Brunnhildar lady if you're already transformed into a drake, so you WILL be attacked, just a warning ;)

I'm also not sure if they changed the droprate at all, however I did the daily on three characters yesterday with no luck, did it with the same three today and got it on my last character. I just parked them all there at the quest giver, and fortunately on both days got the quest to challenge six people, which is great since I didn't have to go anywhere. ;)

I just got the mount after doing only 1 daily , I wasnt really going for the mount , just leveling my alt so i did the daily and boom the mount , thanks to the new patch mounts are account wide , so it's on my main too :)

Facts:
The average amount of dailies you need to do for this mount is 23 (0.97log0.5= log0.5/log0.97)
The average amount of satchels you need to obtain is 346 (0.998log0.5 = log0.5/log0.998)
The chance of NOT getting the mount after 100 dailies is merely 4.75 % (0.97^100)

Kept me hoping to finally obtain this at least :(.

So I was doing the quests leading up to unlocking the dailies for this and was looking on here thinking "I'll never get mine in the first couple of bags, like other people are saying...."
Well I did the daily for the first time and it dropped, thanks very much RNG. I did the daily the next day just for kicks and it dropped again.
Either I was incredibly lucky or the drop rate is higher than we think 0.o
I'm going to try it again tomorrow and see what happens lol.

Finally got mine today! Back before Cataclysm came out, I may have done the daily 10-20 times but not certain. Since I got back from my recent WoW break and downloaded Rarity addon, it took me 41 bags to get the mount.

I am so glad mounts are account wide now. Doing that daily 41 days in a row would have been painful. Instead, I was completing it 3 times a day on different characters.

This dropped for me out of a Misty Satchel of Exotic Mysteries, while I was grinding some dungeons on my bear tank. Normally I just get a potion a bit of gold or some other random junk, but auto loot and seen chat and was like OoOoOhhh, saaaweet!

Just got this mount from Hyldnir Spoils which are rewarded for the daily Gretta the Arbiter provides in The Storm Peaks. The addon "Rarity" confirmed it took me 8 attempts to get the mount so I feel very lucky as I did endless LFR's as healer when Satchel of Exotic Mysteries was rewarded for the role.

I just got back into wow after a break for MoP. I've been doing Argent Tournament quest for heirloom gear so I decided when I get close to the village I will do this daily as well. I had unlocked it but didn't do the quest during Cata or WotLK.

On my third day of doing the quest (so like my 6 time on 2 toons) I got the drop. I was shocked to be honest, but very happy.
