well if it does require engineering then i hope DK's (when i create one of course) will be able to start with normal 55 related profession levels... like 250 or something so then we at least start out like everything else, then Dk's will look UBER

This mount CAN be used in Azeroth! It's also made via engineering.

When summoned, instead of a buff that increases your speed, you are placed ontop of a vehicle with approx. 5k health. It takes fall damage for you, and CAN blow up.. :-| However! You currently take no fall damage at all upon impact. It cannot be used in water/indoors just like normal mounts. Also, when mounting/dismounting there is a short animation of you climbing on/off the bike, but during this animation you cannot move or attack. This may or may not be bug.. :-|

I am in beta and I can confirm this.

As much as i'd love to believe this, it seems very unlikely that they would undo all other mount rules (own hp, fall damage, mounting animation). The blowing up at times I can believe due to engineering. Any chance you could provide a video of these things happening, along with the mounts HP indicators?

The bike is capable of carrying a passenger with no modifications. To give someone a lift, invite them to your party then have them click on the bike when their icon turns to the new mount arrow icon.

I don't think people are understanding what's going on here...

At the moment, the bike is available to everybody for a paultry 5 gold. The devs have flat-out said the reason for this is because there are a few more bugs to test on it, so they want everybody to have fun and use it.

When the game goes live, this WILL be an ENGINEER ONLY mount. In fact, the Alliance Vanguard/Warsong Hold rep vendors are already selling the schematic, and it clearly shows a 450 Engineering requirement.

Me being an engineer am somewhat disappointed that its not engineering only, like all these past comments have said Engineering is really hard to level and costs a lot, and sure you'd be making some money back with these but why a mount? Its not like an alchemists potions where its a one time use thing, with one of these mounts you buy one and your set, so us engineers will be making roughly 20g on a tip and we wont ever make money again, i say make this mount BoP and give us something else to sell, like maybe making our grenades available to all players, or making some of the mats we make required by some other professions. These are only options but i really don't think this mount is the best solution to engineering being such a gold sink. What with all these new enchantments i'm sure blizz can come up with a few different enchantments that are slightly less effective than the engineering ones, but are still useful, engineering still needs its perks besides goggles so that someone may choose it over say LW or Enchanting.

I can't see why all the engineers are crying about it being BoE.. We Still have the roflcopters which others don't, Heck, We are the only profession with mounts, Except for that flying carpet, But My mage won't be seen on that crap for no matter how much gold..
The Choppah is BoE So we engineers can get some extra pocket money, I really can't see the problem, Looking at the mats of that thing I wouldn't say everybody will be able to get it.
I think most of you engineers got spoiled from the sudden attention of Blizzard? :o My troll won't care who else gets the mount, I just want it myself because it has Pwn on the plate :)

Funny enough blizzard did say that you dont have to be an eng to ride the mount, BUT keep in mind it is a 2 person mount and they could mean that the passenger does not have to be an eng. Think about it this is blizzard we are talking about, they do sneaky stuff all the time. All in all though my main is eng and looking forward to it, i heard rumors is it going to have 280% ground speed or 100?

The thing about engineering is that it doesn't MAKE any money ever.
Now you're talking complete BS. Engineering is a profession that can make good money crafting various quest items, at different levels. But it's generally the engineers themselves that price themselves out of the market, causing people not to bother with such quests at all. I noticed how 1g in mats tends to translate into 20g selling value for engineers.

Well, here's another good method to get rich easy it seems. Total mats for these mounts will probably be in the range of 600-800g. So expect avarage AH values as high as 9000g, since people will not only want them for show, but need them for their achievement as well.

Making another example as of why engineering doesn't make money: simply because engineers are generally PvP scrubs who want to make money without putting in any effort. Good thing the avarage raiding guild comes with engineers too, who will probably be more realistic about their income, and charge more like materials + 200-300g.

So expect to see many people riding them, but don´t expect to sell any yourself.

Just an fyi:

The special parts for this thing require engineering to be purchased and cost 12500g total. In other words, for someone to put this on the AH, the price at a minimum has to be 12500g for them to even break even; and they had to have had 12500g to begin with... and that's not factoring in the cobalt, titansteel, and arctic furs.

tl;dr: You're not gonna see this up on the AH for 500g and everyone and their mothers riding around in one. It's over twice as expensive as epic flying SKILL.

Oh yeah what does leatherworking require, skinning, what does tailoring require, linen, enchanting, greens which you can make from, blacksmithing, tailoring anything with weapon and armor greens. Now engineering that takes mining, skinning, linen and pretty much jewelcrafting if you want to get all the mats yourself. So @!#% OFF!

BTW unless they take of the Get To The Choppa! achivement this is always gonna be BoE

This will stay usable for everyone on live, the reason is because there is an achievement for having the mount, bliz only gives achivements that's atainable for everyone, if it's not it would be a feat of strength.

So what does "1 Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe - 1500 (Limited Supply)" mean? Do the exhaust pipes replenish at the vendor or is that 1500 bikes per server, period? If that's the case, then the supply of Exhaust pipes will limit accessibility to this mount far, far more than the materials cost. No engineer with measurable brain wave activity would sell this baby unless the price was IRL currency.

Prediction is correct. Whether a prediction made after it became a fact, or one from the beginning of Beta (obviously, this is the former)... he said that Engi's make it and anyone can use it.

So what exactly is the big draw of this expensive vehicle now that we can fly through Northrend? It's only effectively usable in Azeroth (snooore) and Dalaran as a way of showing everyone that you used to have 13000g. Not to mention the animation time on mounting and dismounting make this a deal-killer for people who actually do things like PVP or kill mobs. I've maxed out engineering and I'm working towards exalted, but I just don't know if I should bother now.

Special note, the mount has it's own HP and acts like a pet. Basically, this means you can jump from any distance, the mount will take the damage, dismount you and you are just fine. Kinda neat.

Stop complaining about items like this one that do not require a certain level of engineering to use. I wouldn't care if half the server had the same mount as mine, since i myself like it and enjoy it. For instance, i still find netherdrakes awesome despite the fact half the server has one now.

I am no engineer (well that's pretty much obvious) but i love that kind of silly stuffs. Should i not be able to use them because you want to stand out by having a rare, and funny mount? No sir!

On a serious note: This is very well farmable. The only issue I had was saronite bars to level my engineering to 450. Just run a lot of heroics and mindless questing almost anywhere in Northrend to get Horde Expedition reputation. I started this quest with about 8000 gold in my pocket from getting to 80 and farming Netherwing rep before wotlk release.

Enjoy your mindless hours farming for titanium or saronite to sell on the AH to get money for those vendor items!

I made the Hog today after around a week and a half of WoTLK launching. Rep with Horde Expedition is very easy to gain from dailies and instance runs. I was 12'000/21'000 when I hit 80 from questing alone.

This mount can jump on the spot, unlike other mounts which require some movement to jump. I'm sure this will come in handy somewhere but I haven't found a use for it yet!

It can be buffed with useful buffs such as water walking which is obviously very handy. Although at present aspect of the pack does not appear to work. Aspect of the pack does work on the Mammoth mount as far as i'm aware.

Upon mounting a pet par appears which only has an attack button on it. This currently does nothing, but perhaps engineers will be able to add upgrades to the bikes in future patches?

Jumping off Dalaran's ledges is great fun, 10 seconds of freefall! Since i'm the first on my server with the mount people have actually paid me money to do this because of the novelty value. I even got 10g to ride someone around for a minute.

The only niggle I have with it is the time taken to dismount. This is a big disadvantage from a PVP perspective and I hope Blizz will change it soon. You are seriously gimping yourself if you use it whilst PVPing at the moment.

Got the rep to make this easily doing instances and created mine a few days ago (Was first on server to get 450 Engineer and first on server to get bike (Still only on server i think)).

I was wondering what would be a good price to charge for a crafting fee? I dont want to make it cheap because then it wont have uniqueness anymore.

i dont understand why all of you are complaining about how much money this costs to make. just look at the Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. it costs 20000g just to buy from the vendor without rep discounts. its a status symbol just like the Mechano-hog. people riding around on the mammoth are just showing off that they had the 20k g. its the same with all the mounts imo. Roflcopter = eng showing off....whether or not they think they are. its just showing all of us, not lucky enough to be engineers that that person is an engineer. i think that if you have the money, you are entitled to this crazy expensive mount.

Here are some things to keep in mind about this wonderful mount.

-Price tag for this mount, depending on server prices, can be anywhere from 13000 gold to 18000 gold (possibly more, all depending on prices for titansteel, cobalt, and arctic fur).
-It does not require engineering to USE.
-HOWEVER, to obtain the Iron Golem Parts, Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipe, and the Goblin-machined Pistons, an engineer must have the schematic learned (meaning the engineer must have 450 engineering AND exalted reputation with the Horde Expedition to buy/learn the schematic). The vendor will only sell the special parts if the engineer has learned the schematic (this means, at some point, that you either have to hand over 12500g to the engineer to buy the parts, or you have to do a trade of parts for money through the trade window). A non-engineer cannot buy the parts.
-It does have its own health bar, and will take fall damage for you. If the damage exceeds the health, the motorcycle will disappear and you will jump off it. Simply re-summon it (it is a learned mount, so it will never disappear once you have learned it).
-If you are riding it alone, it does not have the side-car attached. If you are partied with someone, the side-car will pop out if they choose to join you on the motorcycle.
-This mount can be used anywhere that allows a normal level 40 epic mount (ex: Skeletal Warhorse).
-Falling in this mount will damage both the driver and the rider for the same percentage of health.
-Slowfalling the driver will allow the driver and a passenger to ride off together (into an epic sunset, perhaps).
-It is possible to get the vendor-items discounted, bringing the total price from 12500g to 11250 gold for those items. (10% of 12500g is 1250g. 12500-1250=11250.)

Not confirmed yet:
-Apparently, I've heard you can carry flags with this in Warsong Gulch.
-Polymophing does not work on a player who is mounted on this.

Edits: fixes were made long ago to ensure this mount acted as other mounts do. Players can be polymorphed/feared/etc now (for a few months, they were a separate target from the motorbike itself).

They have also fixed flag carrying in the side car.

You can complete the achievement Mine Sweeper just running over the mines on your motorcycle because it's considered a vehicle and you don't get dismounted like every other mount.

I'm going to assume that just as with the Tundra Mount I purchased and returned for my 20,000g back, that this mount has annoying features which for me stood as a deal breaker. Here's the post which includes a screen shot of some of the issues I had with the Tundra mount as well as how I got the refund:

Some issues this likely shares with the Tundra Mount:
1. The mount requires too much time to mount and dismount - an extra .5 second - Very annoying. An expensive mount should activate instantly or in LESS time.
2. Clicking forward on the mount upon using it often sends it running in reverse direction from the direction faced upon mounting it.
3. When mounted, there is an odd spot for actually being able to speak to NPC's or use the mailbox. It's off to the left side and is much more difficult than with a standard swift ground mount.
4. When traversing shallow water (puddles, or even the UC canals) this mount ejects you, whereas standard swift ground mounts do not.
5. On any other ground mount you can cast a spell or attack a mob and it automatically dismounts you and you're instantly able to combat mobs. With this mount if you approach and aggro a mob, you can't immediately attack, instead, the mobs are on you while you have to perform the extended, animated dismount. Those precious seconds are often the difference between winning and losing, and in this case are ALWAYS a disadvantage from what we're used to on a standard mount.
6. This mount cannot /follow another mount.

i am tired of seeing the "Engineering is hard to level. we need uber mount" card being played on this thread.

i have a lvl 72 undead DK on stonemaul and had his engineering to 350 at level 67 in 2 days... please dont tell me engi is hard to level the bullets give SOOOOO many points its really stupid easy to level.

The Mekgineer's Chopper and the Mechano-hog are NOT affected by a Paladins Crusader Aura

However they ARE affected by a Hunters Aspect of the Pack, if you get stuck you will be dazed but you will only be slowed if your bike is struck

I would assume that the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth would be affected the same way

I made it a few weeks ago and theres two things that really annoy me. This no way to kick people out. so in a random battlegroup anyone can jump in. Second, the dismount takes at least a second and spins you around. On another note there is a trade bug where you cannot at the moment get traded whilst on the hog. Oh, did i mention that this isnt affected by crusader aura? A GM told me that its a "vehicle" and not affected by mount mechanics. So, all in all i am disappointed. If this is a vehicle then let it have some unique features. I think it was overall around 16k and other than looking badass and never dieing from fall dmg it kinda a let down overall.

You take NO FALL DAMAGE in this thing. The motorcycle has it's own hitpoints which eat fall damage then regenerate at a very fast rate. If you fall from a high enough distance to kill the motorcycle (i fell from 200 yards), you still jump out of it unharmed when it dies and you simply make a new one.
It's really hard to target people driving this thing. In pvp, you end up targeting and attacking the bike, not the players. That is extremely frustrating.
It can carry flags in warsong gulch.
Looks to me it is way to overpowered.

It's not OP its a siege vehicle, meaning it has its own health and that makes it not so much a mount, it is a mount but i hope you understand what i mean, now if it had a cannon mounted on front and could do damage to other players then id agree with you :D

And engineer is not hard to level up. I did it 0 to 340 in 2 days, getting the last few points without being 70+ was hard until WotLK came out with 350+ engineer recipes that didn't require flying mount to farm.

I feel like I have to correct a few minor misconseptions here:

I made the bike today (YAY!), and the materials were 12.5k vendor materials and roughly 3.7k from the Auction House. The player made materials constitutes by far the lesser part of the cost here. So farming your way to this sweet hog is not really possilble. Unless you too think of farming the way I do: "Farm whatever earns you the most money, and then buy what you need yourself." Why not?
As already pointed out this total amount of money (~16k in my case) is a lot. This means only a few people will buy it. And although I agree with above poster that tipping 10g for this mount is terribly cheap, I'm afraid the huge tips will be far between. Put together this unfortunately (for us hobby tinkerers) means that this bike is hardly a money maker at all. I guess you'll profit more from selling the epic guns you can make at maximum skill.
Last off I want to point out that this mount is totally superior to the Travelers Tundra Mammoth in terms of coolness. And for what other reason than style would you buy a >10k mount anyway? Are the repairman and vendor on the Mammoth really that handy? Nay! If you really need these, hire an engineer to make you a repairbot and a vendorbot instead ;) Oh, and the bike is more expensive too!

It appears that Alliance characters will be able to obtain this mount, as Horde will be able to obtain the Mekgineer's Chopper, through the wonders of the Neutral auction house. So if you're REALLY after some big money, you may want to consider placing one of these on the neutral AH.

Look people I'm an engy and I wanted the mount to be BoP too but the only reason Blizz make this mount BoE is so that players could easily experiance* the 2-person mount thing. So of course you can't just buy an random hog of out nowhere and there's the whole engy craft. Down rate if you want but thats the best comment that actually makes any sense in this forum.

This mount isnt effected by Path of Frost which seems to be the only vehicle ground mount thats not effected by its since Grand Ice Mammoth and the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth are affected by it. Finding this out myself made me /cry

So be sure if your riding this mount with your DK friend, don't drive into the water, less you two be drowning!

And btw it's been fixed on multiple ocasions with able to carry flag carriers in wsg, hasn't worked for me anymore. Learned that in a more failing way.

Very fun mount though and I love it very much, and I would have to after spending 22k gold worth of mats for this thing and getting on it 13 days after wotlk launch. Titansteel Bars going for 2000g each back then. ugh D:

Blizzard is basically give you guys a rather nice money maker.

One of these on Ysondre first sold for about 19k, now averaging 16-18k, ((100g+ tip is NOT shabby considering hey, they did grind thorium, and then saronite give them SOME credit you cheap bastards)).

They did "kind" of the same thing with smithing and the new weapons and such. Sure there seems to be a limited selection, but people are willing to buy and people are willing to sell. If you are not either, then tough money will exchange other hands.

For those insisting still that it should be BoP I have this to say. If your car manufacturer made the car, showed it to you but then said "No, sorry, only car makers can use it." Wouldn't you "wtf"? ((Yes I know its a game but logic wins))

Hey all! I've been looking at the comments and have seen many comments such as: "This mount will be a hefty toll on your gold."

I agree, partially.

There is (of course) the base cost of 12,500 Gold.

That price CAN be the minimum you need to pay!

In about 8 hours, i've earned nearly 3000 G farming Saronite on my server. While gathering the saronite, you get shadow and earth eternals. All you have to do is farm 12 fires from Fjarn's Anvil.

Then, if you're a miner, you can YOURSELF make 12 titansteel, or, if you're in a good guild, can probably find a couple of people willing to do it for you for free. I also, have exchanged 40 copper bolts, and arctic fur for aiding the engineer making the chopper level his alt.

So, basically, If you have a weekend or two, you can easily obtain this mount so long as you've done all of the Loremaster of Northrend achievements.

If you mine titanium nodes, you get some crystallized fire as well as other stuff. Usually I had more than enough to make titansteel a day without having to farm anything else.

cobalt bolts = free from mining (had low level engineer alt)
arctic fur = free from skinning
titansteel bars = free from mining and smelting.

All I spent were 12,500 gold + tip to an engineer to make it for me. Figure I spent about 3 weeks farming for gold to buy this.

Anyone who is not a miner, or don't have paitence to farm freebies will end up paying premiums. I've seen this go for as low as 25K on AH.

Ok so apparently this mount has health. But i'm surprised im the only one with this question so far.

If the mount falls with you in it from a high enough spot say 300 yards off a cliff, what happens to the mount? Is it set so it cant be summoned for an hour after breaking, does it have to be repaired at a vendor, or is it just forever wasted just beccause someone wanted to honor evil kinevil for a second? I just dont see it realistic for a 13,000 g mount to just be destroyed in a matter of seconds never to be seen again.

I want to add that if you are planning to make these to sell on AH or Trade Chat or whatever, I just want to warn you that you can't sell it too high (20k+ as you probably thought) because the Exotic Mount Vendor in Dalaran is selling a Mount similar to this one, that's the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth. They work all the same, except Mammoth costs 16k. So if you made the Bike for 13k, you won't be making any profit more than 3-4k...

*HINT* Maybe the buyer likes the Bike more than the Mammoth and is prepared to pay a bit more for it, then you have made a good deal.

Something to note for those that recently crafted their hog or plan to. In BGs like warsong gulch if someone holding the flag hops in your side car, they will DROP the flag before they get inside. I nearly lost a warsong match testing this when the flag carrier dropped it right next to an alliance. So take caution in pvp and be sure to let the others know not to click your mount if they have the flag.

In Wintergrasp, you should be able to pull into the vehicle huts and get upgrades for the hog.

For example they throw armor plating on it to increase health to 20k and add a light cannon to the passenger car that does 500 siege damage

These improvements only last for the duration of wintergrasp

-OR- make a talent-tree type upgrade system... somewhat expensive but make the hog upgradeable. You can select a series of upgrades oriented towards defensive or offensive capabilities.. none too powerful but enough to make it worth the mats that are required (like another piston + 2 titansteel + 15 cobalt bolts for example).

Glitch found!

Tried this twice and happened both times but if you have a passenger and you jump into the well in from on the bank in Dalaran. You will dismount like normal but your passenger disappears and dies a few seconds later.

Neat little trick, if you are a class that can buff the mechano hog there IS a way to buff your own.

for example on my priest if I wanted to levitate his mechano hog I use the following macro
/target Mechano
/cast Levitate

All you do is put this next to your mount button, second you finish casting theres a split second where the hog is summoned that you can cast the buff

The macro just lets you target it and cast fast enough. Takes a bit of getting used to but at least now i dont have to invite another priest into my party just to play around with a flying mechano hog. =P

Dude if I am going to pay 12k gold just for 3 of the materials by all means it BETTER be overpowered. It's not like it's limited to one class. It's a definite upgrade that you bust your a$$ for. Honestly. It's no different that running heroics for the best armor in the game. Yeah you could call those peices just as over powered as this, but they are obtainable by anyone. Something is only overpowered if it is limited to a specific group and others do not have the means to overcome it. Just because I Earned a better sword than you from besting a heroic doesn't mean my sword is overpowered, it just means that you're jealous. XD

I don't know if anyone else was curious about this, but I was....

Since there are several zones that change after various quests are completed (Shadow Vault, Argent Vanguard, etc.), I wanted to see how this would work with carrying passengers that had not completed these quests. Normally if the other player has not completed the quests, they can't see you and you can't see them. So to see how this would work with the mechano-hog, I carried a passenger that had not yet completed any of the Icecrown quests though I had.

It turned out to be a pretty amusing venture--as soon as I entered the "instanced" zone (I have no idea what to call it), my passenger vanished. I couldn't see him anymore. However, I did not lose him, he did not get kicked off the hog, and he could still ride around with me. He said that his driver vanished and he was riding around in the side car without a driver, but it worked okay. That said, as soon as you dismount, or if mobs (or an alli DK...) kill your bike, your passenger will not be able to remount because they won't be able to see you or your bike.

Oh, and both you AND the hog take mine damage if you go bouncing around the mine field outside of k3 ;)

-The bike no longer takes fall damage. I gave some base jumping rides to my guildies and we figured out you could mount up on the wall of Krasus' Landing and jump off.

-The highest jump off point we could find was the floating part at the top of Violet Citadel. Please lemme know if anyone knows of a higher spot.

This and other vehical mounts have been changed to behave more like normal mounts meaning you can now mount and dismount automatically. It will no longer take fall damage and have hitpoints (awww) and it will just be seen as a normal mount (no longer targetable). It now is affected by path of frost and it also has a new side icon on the right hand side of the screen to show who is mounted next to you (like the vehicals in Wintergrasp). Plus, when a passenger is dismounted the folding up animation will play. The side car folds back into the motorcycle.

As of 3.1, this "mount" is nowhere near worth the cost anymore. The previous vehicle attributes (no fall damage, no dazing, separate target, etc) were the only justification for the massive cost. Now it's just another vanity item. If you were after it for just the passenger ability, go with the Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44086 ) from Sons of Hodir at exalted. Holds three instead of two, and costs 8000g compared to the 12,500g + mats.

Bought this yesterday for baout 13,800 with 200g tip...Muey expensive, not sure if I should have gotten this or the tundra...I like the vendor Idea but it's just another Mammoth in which I already have a Black War version. The noise gets extremely annoying so I had to turn main sound down....I do however love being able to goto a flag with someone else...Someone always wants a ride to the flags and someone always gets in....Overall cool mount for sure!

You might've gathered that this bike altogether costs 12.5k gold in vendor mats and then ~1k more in regular mats. Personally I feel that even though it's not a vehicle anymore but a regular mount, the money's well spent. The fact of the matter is it is one of the most if not the most unique ground mount in the game. Besides for the obvious fact that it's a bike instead of an animal, it creates a constant ruckus of engine purring noise as well as a satisfying clamor when it drops from great heights. It can jump in place, which as far as I know no other ground mounts can do. It can also hold a passenger, a quality only shared by the great mammoths. Personally, though, I dislike the mammoth models for they are bland an unimaginative. This bike, when it moves, all parts of it moves, the wheels, the tail pipe, everything. When it jumps, all the little objects on it also shakes. The attention to detail is purely amazing. The only downside I could think of is the fact that it doesn't really scale to character model size. As a female blood elf, the bike is relatively huge and it completely surrounds my character, which makes it look even cooler. I can imagine, though, that as a tauren the relative small size of the bike might be a put off.

Now, if only Blizzard could release something like a mod shop so I can mod up my bike. Nitrous anyone?

An interesting little trick I noticed last night after finally getting my hog...

If you're riding the bike with a passenger and use an Iron Boot Flask to transform into an Iron Dwarf, you'll be standing on the bike. But the sidecar folds up! Your passenger will be sitting upside down on the folded up sidecar. The same thing happens if you drive down to Sen'jin Village and take some of the buffs from the local witch doctor.

All of the Vendor Only mats for the motorcycles can now be "skinned" off Ulduar bosses (even in 10-man) via an engineering score of 415+.

Salvaged Iron Golem Parts can be skinned from Flame Leviathan.
Goblin Machined Pistons can be skinned from Mimiron.
Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipes can be skinned from Deconstructer.

It is confirmed that these can be skinned without knowing the schematic and without the exalted rep status.

That means if u get 2 from XT-002 and 2 from Mimiron you can have the pistons within 2 weeks, assuming they actually drop it.

Wisp (Magic Eater) Nothing special about that one but it flies still while in your hog

Whelp (Magic Eater) My favorite, how radical it is to have a green whelp flying in the passenger seat of your hog, especially when he had a noggenfogger buff, the one that makes you small, was awesome

&*!@roach (Magic Eater) so small if you put your camera on the side you can barely see his head, fits perfectly ON the seat

Basilisk (Magic Eater) pretty much the same as the *!@#roach, pretty funny to see it on your seat

All those shapeshifting methods cannot mount up with their own mount so...yea pretty cool

Sooo, does this mount still provide the immunity against abilities such as Death Grip, Cheap shot, Sap and so on (I don't really know the list of things, but other people told me it was totally worth getting it before the last patch.)

If it provides immunity to any sorts of abilitys, reduces fall damage or whatever, it might still be worth the ridicoulus amount of gold right? Otherwise i doubt i'd spend 12.5k minimum for this mount instead of the Ice mammoth or the Tundra traveler mammoth...

While waiting for my naxx group to form up, I usually ride around the summoning stone to Naxx. Eventually, someone always gets in. I then immediately jump out of naxx, popping my 'chute half way down, and laugh as I watch my passenger fall to their doom. Amazingly, no one ever really seems to be mad.

Took me four days to get this puppy.

Farmed wintergrasp for all the titanium and eternals for titansteel bars, to get twelve I just bought peoples CD's which saved a lot of time.

Then I just had to farm and quest for the gold, once I had enough most engineers charge 200g fee for making one and buying parts for you so get ready to pay a big tip ;).

But all in all i'm very happy and see it as money well spent and plus people pay to give them rides to places which is nice :D

I can also confirm that the Goblin Machined Pistons can be skinned from Flame Leviathan on the Ulduar 10 Man version as 3 of them dropped when a guildie skinned him.

After FIVE long hard months of saving, and buying one piece at a time. i have FINALLY finished building my mechano hog.

And believe them when they say:
Worth every Minute, Every Copper, Every Click of the mouse, Every stroke of the keyboard.

I know it feels dumb to get that excited about a game but trust me, Building this was the greatest play experience I've had in any video game in my entire LIFE,
Hard work pays off.

Maybe it just because I'm fond of motorcycles IRL, but to you people who think u can never afford one, i say: you CAN, It may take a LONG time, but its worth it
Just do what i did, and put 40 Silver of every gold u make into savings, and every time u can Buy a part, Buy a part. so you aren't tempted to buy something else.

I actually got my bike before i got Epic Flying training, and i don't regret that decision one bit.

Do it.
Do your dailies EVERY day and do a lot of 10 man Nax/Ulduar (without dying!)
you would be surprised how much money u make by running raids. (assuming you don't die and need repairs)
Save for that mechano hog.

Just the feeling of having one, with every player admiring you and asking "hey can i ride in you bike? =D" just feels so great, that I've really accomplished something.

Totally 110% WORTH IT.

I wanted to get this so I started looking in to the cost of making it.

1. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44502 = 340g (At exalted But you have to be exalted to buy anyway).
2. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44501 =1000g each so for the 8 you need 8000g.
3. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44500 =1500g only need the 1.
4. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44499 =3000g again only need 1.

These 4 items are sold by vendors so there can be no change in price.

5. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=44128 =100g each need 2 so 200g.
6. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39681 =20g a stack of 20 so 40g for the 40.
7. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37663 =130g each and for the 12 needed 1560g.

These 3 items I have taken the price of my server so probably different to your own server but this is just a guide line.
As I said I have taken the price of my AH so probably different to your own server, However I would say it’s probably allot cheaper to make the last 3 items not buying them already made should save allot.

So a BIG grand total of 14640g and this is the price of patch 3.2.2 so these prices will probably change knowing blizzard.

If you're building yourself a bike, pay attention to the Auction House. Even though your chances of skinning the vendor only parts off the Ulduar bosses is small, people will still get them on your server. If they aren't using them to build their own bikes, they'll be going on the AH, and they will be up for less than the vendor would sell them for (unless the seller is an idiot).

While you're saving up, just remember to check the AH every so often for parts. Occasionally you will find some up there on the cheap, sometimes even with very low opening bid prices.

Not a sure thing, but all it takes is a few extra seconds whenever you stop by the AH to look, and it can potentially save you thousands on this bike.

Anyone else think it would be a cool idea if Blizzard made it so that if you are an engineer with Jeeves and have the Hog you'd mount up with Jeeves in the passenger seat? You could kick him out like you can with the mammoth NPCs. They'd prolly make it so that you can only access the vendor feature of Jeeves and leave the banking to the actual summon. This way both sides will be happy. Non-engineers get one of the best looking mounts in the game, and engineers get Jeeves as their default passenger.

I got it today after buying 7 primordial saronite and selling them for around 2k gold each. I deprived all my alts of they're tier 10 but in the end look at it this way, gear doesn't last and after a couple of weeks their frost badge count will be back up to normal, but this mount will last forever.

Here are all the tips and tricks I found out about the motorcycle mount on my night elf druid :D

First off, I am an engineer so thats how some of these work.
The person riding with you can do a variety of things, like /dance, /cower, /train, was pretty epic for when I was a troll from the teleporter debuff for me to dance while a buddy of mine was driving his chopper through the minefield, Storm Peaks, you could make a video of stepping on a landmine there, we however, didn't just last on one mine, but we almost blew up each and everyone mine in a consecutive leap of explosive and falling damage, was pretty epic, but you might want to have a good deal of health before trying something like that >.<

1. Using an Iron Boot Flask or an Orb of the Sin'dorei, also dispelling Orb of Deception while mounted on the chopper makes your current passenger upside down.

2. For Druids: Go to Krasus' Landing or anywhere your allowed to fly, Shapeshift into Flight Form, queue for a dungeon, ( I'm a tank so I can do this almost instantly :P ) finish the dungeon, mount up on anything, I go on my chopper, then use the eye thing on your minimap to teleport out of dungeon, without making your chopper buff go away, then.... Bird on a Chopper! 60% Flying speed, 100% Ground Speed, but hey, it can carry a passenger! If you'd like to thank me for granting you da knowledge of a flying 2 people mount you could um, mail me some gold or let the alliance have Wintergrasp more often, I'd prefer the gold XD

3. For Engineers/Restoration Druids/Balance Druids: You might have seen a moonkin that is in a sidecar, but seen one that is driving? First off, you have to either be a goblin or gnome engineer, use your Ultrasafe Teleporter : Toshley's Station or that other goblin thingy, to teleport to Area 52, once you get a transporter malfunction, where your character is mixed up with the last person to use it, A.K.A turning into a tauren, hearth or go where you want to go, don't go Bear/Seal/Cat/Flight form, but Moonkin and I think.. Tree of Life also persist through the malfunction debuff, and just causes an illusion, so you can get on a chopper, while in moonkin form, with the debuff, once the effect is gone, you become an actual moonkin/tree on whatever mount you picked, and standing up, pretty fun to run around on a mechanostrider with like that XD

4. For Engineers/Mages: When your falling with a passenger, and are about to go splat, use your parachute cloak or slowfall to live, your friend will take moderate damage, and will most likely survive the impact, in rare cases, you die and passenger takes little or no damage, Dalaran sewer skydiving FTW

For those players being the passengers and using Action Bar mods like Bartender and having troubles to dismount.
They removed the mount buff that passengers had to dismount (Riding Shotgun), which is similar to the rider's buff.

Instead they moved this function to the vehicle bar and if you have made the vehicle bar invisible then there are two options to resolve the issue. Either make the bar visible or target the rider and right click on his unit frame. He alone will have an option called "Leave". This will NOT make you leave the party but instead leave the vehicle.

Applies to all vehicle mounts.

As an engineer a passenger and I hopped off a cliff in TB and a few feet before we hit the ground I popped my parachute and we both survived. Apparently the falling distance resets the split second you pop the parachute and you only take damage for the remainder of the fall. A good tactic for making a quick escape with a buddy in perilous situations!

If you drive this down a hill and jump, your back tire repeatedly hits the floor, it'll look like your bouncing on the tire :D. I did this in Caverns of Time and it seemed like my bike was driving forward while bouncing on its back tire again and again.

Goblins are not allowed to learn the recipe for this mount, nor are worgens allowed to learn the alliance equivalent.

The weirdest thing is, both are allowed to have the mount, just not the recipe to craft it. My buddy who race-changed to a female worgen just got the alliance version yesterday, while the recipe from my profession window is gone (I also received fur implants)

What sense does that make?

Edit: Goblins are also able to buy the parts for the Mechano-Hog w/ our discounts.

Just so everyone knows, I know that any of the mats you buy in K2 can be reverse engineered from the Flame Leviathan in Ulduar. I know you can also reverse engineer the other bosses in the instance, but dont know if they will have those mats aswell. If you have seen the mats on the other bosses aswell, please let me know.

Thortok's guide to getting a Mechano-Hog!

Chopper. Two passenger mount. People in your group can ride in your side car. Don't have to be an engineer to have and use one. Do have to be an engineer to make one. Don't have to own one to ride in someone else's. Gives an achievement to have it: Get to the Choppa!.

(Engineers Only) Get to 450 Engineering.
(Engineers Only) Buy (and learn) Schematic: Mechano-Hog. This requires Horde Expedition Exalted. Easiest way to get this rep to Exalted is to do heroic dungeons at level 80 without wearing one of the tabards that changes the default rep into a different rep. You can also quest for it.
Gather 12x Titansteel Bar, 40x Handful of Cobalt Bolts, 2x Arctic Fur. Hopefully you can figure out how to do this on your own.
Save up 12500 gold or the following items: Salvaged Iron Golem Parts will cost 3000 gold. 8x Goblin-Machined Piston will cost 1000 gold each for a total of 8000 gold. Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe will cost 1500 gold. Finding any of these mats for cheaper than the listed price on the Auction House is unlikely, but possible*, so make sure you check because it could save you money. Obviously, don't buy them for more than the listed price. Duh.
The parts listed in Step 4 can only be bought from Roxi Ramrocket in K3 by an Engineer who has completed Step 2. So if you are not an Engineer, you will have to give your gold to the Engineer making this for you, and they can buy them from the NPC.** (Note that Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe, the part that costs 1500 gold, is limited supply so has a chance of not being available. However, because of the rarity of choppers anyway, it is usually available regardless. If the Engineer says it's not available, take their word for it and try again in a couple hours or the next day.)
The mats from Steps 4/5 and Step 3 will be used to make the chopper. If, more than likely, you are at K3 when you have collected your final mats, there is an anvil within K3 the chopper can be made at.

*The mats in Steps 4/5 used to be additionally available from deconstructing (the Engineering version of Skinning) certain bosses in Ulduar, specifically Flame Leviathan as the most common. Not sure which patch changed this, but this is no longer the case. Now that Roxi Ramrocket is the only source of these mats, you will practically never see them on the Auction House anymore. However, since these mats are bought from a vendor, the guild perk Bartering can be used for a discount. No other forms of discounts are currently known. If you do not have this perk, you can check the Auction House to see if someone who does is selling at a discount. Since it could potentially save you money, why not check?

**Make sure you protect yourself! If you get scammed, GM's can and will take action to get your gold and/or mats back, just open a ticket. In order for them to confirm it was a scam, make sure the entire transaction is negotiated using in-game text chat so the GM can read the chat log and confirm that you have been scammed. (Hopefully this won't happen anyway, but 12.5k is a respectable chunk of money, so make sure to cover your bases.) This 'scam protection' is provided for all forms of scams, including the 'give you the mats to make an item and you keep them and give me nothing' scam, as scamming is against the ToS!

I recommend, for Engineers making this for yourself, after you make your first one, check your realm to see if there's anyone willing to buy this for extremely high prices (like, 20k or higher, perhaps even 30k). If you get enough profit, make another one and attempt to sell it. Keep going until you don't get any buyers for awhile, making and selling one by one, and then if you go a long time and can't sell your current one for a profit, THEN learn it yourself.

While the Goblin race first received the full 20% discount from this vendor, this is no longer the case. I actually submitted a ticket and received this GM response:

We forewarded this to our Quality Assurance people and they determined that it's not a bug. This vendor NPC has no associated faction, the discount for Goblins treats them as if they were exalted with all factions.
It's the same deal with Michelle De Rum. Other notable vendors who have no faction affiliation are Yasmin, Helpful Jungle Money, and Salvaged Goods.
It's possible the vendor had a faction affilation at one point, that is no longer the case.

If this vendor never had a faction affiliation before, then the 20% discount was likely a bug.

If you're an auctioneering type, these still sell well. However, remember that the AH cut is a percentage, so you're FAR better selling them in trade - the 5% cut means that you'll be making about 1000g more for shouting in trade (and also means you can undercut any on the AH by 1000g when barking in trade and still make the same profit).

all of which can be transmogged for Clothies. (whole set can be used and retains "THE LOOK")

or Swashbuckler's Eyepatch < look into Same model tab for one you can farm!

for those who must have their shoulders covered... there are not many Choices...

This mount was originally NOT going to be on the list of account-wide mounts in Mists of Pandaria. However, a decision was quite recently made to change this:

Keep in mind if you play both factions that while the Mekgineers Chopper/Mechano-Hog is account wide, it will only be for the original faction you brought it for.

For example, my Alliance Mage had brought a Mekgineers Chopper back in Wrath, and that was the only Chopper I ever brought. Now that 5.0 has hit, all of my Alliance characters have access to the mount at level 40, but it does not even appear for any of my Horde characters. It's the same story for the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth, as there is a Horde and Alliance version.

I logged into my horde today (First day of Patch 5.1) and noticed that I had this mount. I'm guessing by virtue of having Mekgineer's Chopper on alliance side. I've also noticed mounts such as Reins of the Spectral Wolf, Horde's counter to Reins of the Spectral Steed was also in my list of mounts now (keeping in mind my horde has never stepped foot into Tol Barad). It appears numerous other mounts are transferred over now that wasn't before in 5.0.5. Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth was account wide for all on the alliance side before today, but is now included in the cross faction mounts just like the before mentioned mounts.

I can officially confirm that this mount will change into the other Faction's counterpart when you learn one of them, making this mount Account wide and also Faction wide.

Finally! Made a pair of these, one for me and one for AH.

I'm wondering though... when I mount it, it appears under my mini map in grey... sorta like when your armour gets damaged and it shows up, except no parts are yellow/red. When I mount my flying machines, it doesn't happen.

Anyone know why it shows up? can it be damaged/destroyed?

Funny thing with the Mechano-Hog is that if you drink some Noggenfogger Elixir (one or thirty-four lol) until you get the 'You feel smaller...' effect, hop on your rocket and ask a friend to jump on it, he will not see his size reduce. Best is to get a Tauren on your bike while you are tiny. It looks hilarious!

I just made this today. I've been coveting it for years, but never found the time to farm mats or save up the money, even though I had specifically leveled up engineering for this mount. I decided over the weekend to really commit to making it, and I'm so glad I did. The level of detail is amazing! My favorite part is the clear gas tank, where you can see yellow gasoline sloshing about as you idle and drive. As an avid motorcyclist, I'm so happy that my in game character can reflect this passion. I also just love the little smile she has on her face while riding it! :D

If you have thoughts of grinding for the rep to get this schematic, dishing out 10350 gold to a vendor for half the parts, and then grinding for materials to come up with the remaining parts.... JUST because you have visions of making a huge profit selling one of these on your server - THINK AGAIN.

on my server, expectations are that these are only worth 17k or 18k... spam trade with a price any higher than that and you will be ridiculed. i figure i have spent 16.5k (in out-of-pocket expense and value of materials i farmed) just to make the damn thing...

imo, NOT worth the effort for such a small profit.

and to make matters worse, Blizzard has created Blingtron to hand out free mechano-hogs to members of your server

Ah yes the Mechanohog, I made three of these.a few years back. Fair amount of money down even if you farm most of the mats, but definitely worth it though. It's awesome riding this thing on my Tauren lol.

I advice you to farm Saronite as well as Titanium because you can ask alchemists to transmute it (no cooldown).
8 Saronite Bar for 1 Titanium Bar.

If to suggest that all the Titansteel Bar (12) will be obtained through transmutation, you will need 576 Saronite Ore => 288 bars => 36 Titanium Bar for 12 Titansteel.
I usually get 5-7 Titansteel from this transmutation, and the rest from plain Titanium bars.

For 12 Titanium Bar you will need 12 Eternal Fire Eternal Earth Eternal Shadow each. You can farm elementals in Wintergrasp.
The highest drop: Revenant elementals (big ones), but they’re available only if your fraction is the winner.

If you don't want to waste your time farming these elements, you can buy them on the auction house, but this is not the only way.
Frozo the Renowned in Dalaran trades Eternal elements for 1 Frozen Orb, which is obtainable for 63.75 gold (with guild perk) from Magistrix Lambriesse (Arcanist Ivrenne for Alliance).
So if the cost of some Eternal element on auction house is higher than the cost of Frozen Orb — go Frozen orbs way.
(!) There is a reason to buy more Eternal Fire from Frozo, because Crystallized Earth and Crystallized Shadow drop from saronite and titanium, and Crystallized Flame drops only from rare titanium veins.

So, the plan is the following:

Spend 11250 (12500 without guild bonus) on special reagents.
Farm Titanium and Saronite, farm elementals in Wintergrasp (optionally)
Get 2 Arctic Fur.
(optional) Trade Frozen Orbs for Eternal elements that are required for Smelt Titansteel.
40 Handful of Cobalt Bolts = farming Cobalt in Zul’Drak and Howling Fjord.
