Before you gawk at the large ammount of strength on a tanking item, keep in mind the change to strength in Wotlk.
2 Strength = 1 Block Value. (used to be 20:1)
Also remember the Paladin changes. Most of our skills (Consecrate, Judgement, Seals, etc) scale greatly with attack power now, so that 50 strength is great for us. And you can't go wrong with expertise, especially with two new instant melee attacks (Hammer of the Righteous and Shield of Righteousness). Nice piece of gear.
Just picked up this helm a few minutes ago. First, the quest chain to get it was fun and simple (not easy, but simple). Second, putting this on my head pushed my health over 18k unbuffed also, increased my BV by 4, my AP by 18 and my expertise by 5 as well as increasing my spell dmg by 12.
I sacrificed a little avoidance, usually less than a percentage point but the increases more than outweighed the decreases.
My previous helm was the Tier 4 pally helm with the SSO tanking meta.
I'd really recommend getting this helm over the DPS helm. If you want a good DPS helm,
Helm of Command
