Sometimes you'll find higher than usual prices on this item because it's one of the mats for the early Cooking recipes, along with Chunk of Boar Meat and yet another use for Small Egg.

Not only there are players boosting their Cooking for alts all the time, and even moreso now with Achievements, but it's also common for players to reach Journeyman Cooking (which you can train at 50, so you'll have to bridge the distance from 40 after Spice Bread) with the sole purpose of doing the quest for Dig Rat Stew. From this you obtain the only Cooking recipe from a Horde quest, and especially Alliance players will often pay well for it.

Bloodsnout Worgs in southern Silverpine Forest are a great source for this meat. They often drop 2 pieces.

I agree that the bloodsnout worg in south Silverpine is the best.
Almost 100% drop rate for me and sometimes 2 per drop.

When I went to AH, I was shocked. On Jaedenar Horde it cost's 20g:s stack. Atleast, that was what i saw. Can't believe some lvl 80's are really buying those:P

I've had a lot of luck getting this from Decrepit Darkhounds. I've gotten at least one from everyone that I have killed.

Just wanted to mention, for anyone leveling cooking - the trades vendor at the Sepulcher (he's in the inn down the stairs) sells a recipe smoked bear meat (won't link for some reason ^^)
This recipe stays orange from 40-80 cooking, whereas the spiced wolf meat recipe will be yellow by like 45 cooking skill.

Just something to think about :)

After the changes in Cataclysm a good place to go farm this is Silverpine Forest at 61,10. Npcs are level 10 or so with some level 25 Dreadguards patrolling the road every once in a while. Stringy wolf meat drops here from worgs. Also available bear meat from ferocious grizzly bears. Great for leveling cooking.

I don't know if it's just my server, but the ravenous darkhounds in silverpine drop two of the stringy meats, and i think so far i have had 1 not drop any meat at all.

The best place to farm for this is definitely Venomweb vale in Tirisfal Glades. The Darkhounds there usually drop 2 meats a time, and at least drop one a time. In 10 minutes of farming (and with a level 30 mount, and skinning the kills) I got exactly 50 meats. Not bad at all. This would make a great low level money making place, and the mobs are only level 10.

Coords are wrong as of 11/25/2012. proper coords are 42.16, 55.01. There are plenty killed roughly 15.
