Fairly easy to get, you need to become a Worldbreaker by getting and using the Worldbreaker Membership and then grind 1k Magmotes to purchase this. Took around 2 hours or less.

This grind was pretty simple. You also get a decent amount of rep along the way, too. Took about 3 or so hours.

Was able to farm all 1000 needed in about 2.5hrs in a group of 5.

Prior to the Magmote grind, I was Key farming all over the Citadel, so here's a tip to expedite Magmote farming.

Grind in the Vault if possible (no competition).
Most people are topside. The Vault required comparatively less 'hunting' for groups as the respawn, even on one half, was very fast. Also, I'm convinced the Rock Elemental looking (non-elites) down in the Vaults (Right wing, facing Spider Rare) drop more than the actual Elites and they spawn in solid numbers in that wing.

We would clear the Right Wing and almost always, there'd be a partial respawn as we cleared. If not, we just went to the Left wing, killing everything and the Rare that spawns there periodically.

During this grind, I also ended up with 20ish combined keys with a few hundred Fragments left (those Frames...), 2 profession recipes, a Transmog-only drop, 30+ Signets for rep and tons of Greens.

I would not be surprised if they nerf the drop rate, or up the cost soon. Seemed a bit too easy/fast so get in there soon and tough it out! Tons of groups going.

For some reason, the tooltip says that the mount changes based on your riding skill and location, but in spite of this, it seems like it's simply a ground mount. Color me disappointed that it didn't turn out to be a flying lava snail 😔

I did all the quests to unlock the vendor and see the mount on the vendor, but when I came back the following day the Vendor was there "orange" and I could not interact with them and all the hostile mobs were respawned and there are no other quests or anything any and all help appreciated

One thing to note here, or just a small tip. To farm the magmotes for the mount, just kill the mobs. Don't turn in the keys, because the caches drop way too few magmotes (making it worthless to waste the keys for it), and you will need the keys later on for the Wrathion / Sabellian factions.

How To Obtain The Mount
To obtain this mount You need to have completed the questline: The Shadow of His Wings, which is part of the Sojourner of the Waking Shores achievement.
This will give you access to Iggy The Believer who is located at /way 32.2, 52.4. as well as the quest Unlocking Our Past - which requires a Restored Obsidian Key.
This quest is repeatable and rewards a cache that has the chance to drop the Worldbreaker Membership.
Once you use this membership you will be able to interact with Dealer Vexil, located in a cave at /way 34.8, 46.6.
The buff lasts two days, but will disappear should you die.
It will also allow you to start looting Magmote from the mobs around the Citadel area.
Once 1000 motes are looted, you will be able to purchase Slumbering Worldsnail Shell from Dealer Vexil.

My tips:-

If you die you lose your Worldbreaker buff, which will require you to hand in more keys and loot more boxes for another membership. Alternatively, once you gain your Worldbreaker title - you can buy more memberships from Dealer Vexil for 20 x Magmote. I brought one (and would recommend doing so) as a backup incase I died, this would save time and keys. It also can be resold back to the vendor within two hours.
The best farming location is in the vault/basement area of the Citadel. In a 2 x 4 group you can get 500 xMagmote per hour! The spawn rate is extremely fast, almost continuous when you have the flow correct and is a really fast, effective farming method. Lots of these groups can be found under "Obsidian Key Farm" in LFG.

Thought I would make this very brief comment as I couldn't find much information on this mount and how to obtain, so took a lot of trial and error. Hopefully this might help out someone who is easily confused - like myself. Good luck all.

Took me just under 2 hours (30 minutes yesterday and just under hour and a half this morning) while a Primal Storm was active in the Slagmire to get from 0- 1029 magmotes.

Farming keys has been harder since S1 started (on my realm anyway) the Primal Storms are bringing more players back to the area making it a lot easier to farm the rep keys and magmotes.

If you are just starting this journey, I would recommend doing it during a Primal Storm if you cannot find a group in premades.

I did not group up once and no mobs had tag limits (except the non-elites).

other than the name? magashell seems WAY easier to get....
