Was rewarded to me from a companion mission.

Does exactly what the text says: creates a item appropriate (somewhat) for your spec. It will be of the same itemlevel
as the item you use.

For me it created, I was a lvl 92 balance druid at the time. Softfinger Grips

Same here. This was a reward after a mission was completed. I am a Pandaran Monk, lvl 91, and the Shimmering Gauntlets became Softfinger Grips, Item Level 512, Soulbound, Leather Hands. Before I clicked "use" they were worth 5 gold to sell.... after I clicked "use" they were worth 10 gold, 89 silver. I mention this because I have been wearing a pair of 550 ilvl gloves and thought about selling these 512 gloves. However, the new gloves better match the gear I'm wearing, so it's something to consider if you're big into transmog.

Hey Blizz, What about a drop-down menu on use of these items that lets you choose one of three (or four) specs to turn this into?

Would be easier then right clicking the portrait, changing spec, using item, and finally changing spec back.
