i thought up a monk class but all the ideas i came up with sound a lot like a rogue in cloth any ideas?
for those who dont know a monk would be a melee dps that focuses on unarmed or fist weapons combat channeling energy to produce unique effects (like massive dps unarmed) either way it sounds like a fun class but heres the trick they have no mitigation only avoidance

This idea has been posted hundreds, if not thousands (No exaggeration) of times for the Monk class, some with fully thought of concepts, limitations, talents, and such, yet none original.
This one is no different, except it lacks everything the others did.

This was done a while ago, the best, well thought out one is essentially a DnD monk in WoW.
Firstly, I'd like to say the monk concept is very good thus far. I've given it a bit of thought, and come up with what I think might be some appropriate abilities:
Also, they mana/rage/energy whatever bar, I think a 'Chi' bar, which starts at 100, and regenerates at 5per sec, and 5 for every successful mêlée hit, and every avoided/resisted ability from the enemy.
Additionally, They use mastery points, similar to Combo points. They are gained by mêlée and spell crits, are limited at 5, and drop when you change target. Abilities have a set cost of mastery points, and do not use all when activated. This is to prevent spammage of abilities like Ki Strike, because thats essentially a hamstring+mortal strike, and we have enough of that already
Perfect Spirit - High Spell Resist and Evasion for 6sec
Diamond Soul - 20% passive to resist poisons, disease and curses
Chi Blast - 8sec CD ranged attack
Flurry of Blows - 20% faster attack speed, 20% chance to hit twice
Stunning Fist - 1min CD, 3sec stun
Karma - Critical Hits return 20% of their damage to the dealer. Cannot exceed 50% of their max HP
Flame Wreath - Mêlée attacks do bonus fire damage, and passively damaged near by enemies for fire damage.
Wholeness of the Spirit - AoE healing, does more healing the lower the HP of the recipient.
Ki Strike - Heavy Damage attack, slows movement and reduces healing
Nerve Strike - Incapacitate the target for 10sec, damage reawakens the target
Spectral Chi - Blink behind the target, 20 yard range
Fury of the Soul - 5sec all attacks are Crits
Inner Calm - Places the target in a mediative state, fully restoring the HP and Mana over 15sec, and damage will cancel the affect. Target cannot take any action whiles under the affect.
Purity of the Soul - Increases targets armor by 25%
Inner Light - Standard Heal
Illuminating Soul - HoT
Spirit Link - Damage spread between party members
Harmony of the Soul - Mêlée attacks heal the party for 10% of the damage
Skilled Stiking - Attacks from the front have a 5% chance to stun the target for 2sec (20sec internal CD) Attacks from Behind have a 10% increased Crit chance and a 20% chance to cause the enemy to bleed for 30% of the attacks damage over 10sec
Mirror of Soul - Exact copy of Thana's idea, I like it :)
Eagle Style - The Monk adopts the fighting style of the Eagle, doubling chi regeneration (healing aspect)
Tiger Style - The Monk adopts the fighting style of the Tiger, Increasing crit chance by 5% (possible for soloing, DPS)
Mantis Style - The Monk adopts the fighting style of the Mantis, increasing attack speed by 10% (PvP)
Crane Style - The Monk adopts the fighting style of the Crane, increasing dodge chance by 10% (PvP against Mêlée, and soloing)
Viper Style - The Monk adopts the fighting style of the Viper, giving a 10% chance to resist all incoming spells (PvP against casters, situational soloing/raids)
One with the Soul - Adds X% of your spirit to your spell power (so they can be viable healers, as they will be mêléeing at the same time, thus full healing gear would gimp them somewhat)
High Kick - 30sec CD, knocks the opponent down for 2 sec (thus all attacks are crits for a short time), deals marginal damage
Doesn't use weapons (but can equip a throwing), instead has 3 relic slots, Mind, Body, Soul. Each for different aspects, corresponding to the talent trees: Mind is CC and special abilities, including Chi, Body is Physical attacks, Soul is healing spec.
Overall, you have a solid mêlée class, who brings much to the group, and is a competent healer when spec'd appropriately.
