The Histories And Lore Behind The Other Races

Inspired by Queggy’s awesome sticky referring to all those races we constantly deal with, I decided to make a thread about those races that no one really notices, but that are of vital importance in the lore of World of Warcraft.
Turn RP on.
Hello, young travelers. I was once like you. And, in my glory, I explored countless lands, and found secrets from the very depths of the earth. Now, as I feel my last summer is approaching, I write what I have found about the races that are not in the libraries. These races played (and still play) an important part in the history of Azeroth, and I believe it's time to share my findings with the world.

The Old Gods
-
Description
: Horrid. Very few have actually seen these beings and lived to tell the history. And that’s the only word they can come up with. But I have seen, and, for some reason, I did not go mad. Maybe the Gods knew I’d be telling you this story one day. For whatever reason, I can now tell you their appearance. Those referred to as Old Gods are beings made out of pure darkness. They have many eyes over their round bodies, and move with the help of putrid tentacles sprouting out of their “torso”. On top of the heads of these beings lie their vile mouths, sometimes confused with horns. For those of you that have not seen an Old God, I can only say: enjoy your ignorance.
History
: Countless ages ago when the Titans had yet not came to our plane, the Old Gods reined over Azeroth. Their whole reign was based on death and destruction, and the planet was a nightmare. When the Titans did arrive there was a war of cosmic proportions. Realizing the dark being’s power was too great to be banished, the Pantheon imprisoned them beneath the earth. From what I could gather there were five Old Gods. Out of the five, one was actually killed, and his carcass is now a place for vile worship. Two others have been confirmed to exist. These are Yogg-Saron, (who I’ve heard of from Brann Bronzebeard, of the Explorer’s league) that lies somewhere in the cold lands of Northrend. The other was the one I had the unlucky chance of seeing. C’thun is his supposed name, and he lies protected by the Qiraji, who blindly serve him. The other two most likely are still chained underground, waiting for the chance to rise.
"
You. Will. Die.
" ~ C'thun, God Of Qiraj
The Elementals
-
Description
: Earth, water, fire and air. That is the only way to describe the Elemental Lords as one, and separately. There have only been a few sightings of them in our planet. And only one has been seen. The same word is always used to describe him: fire.
History
: During the Old Gods’ reign in Azeroth they had lieutenants to command their unholy armies trough the lands, and against the titans. These lieutenants each commanded the elements themselves, and molded them into perfect soldiers. That’s the origin of the creatures we call elementals. The commanders are known as the Elemental Lords, and they are as it follows: Ragnaros the Firelord, Therazane the Stonemother, Al'Akir the Windlord, and Neptulon the Tidehunter. When the Old Gods were defeated their commanders and most of their soldiers were banished into a planar prison, the Elemental Plane. That stayed their home for a long time, until Thaurissan, in his mad desperation, summoned Ragnaros into our world, causing the enslaving of his people and the explosion of the Redridge Mountains.
"By fire, be purged!"
~ Ragnaros, The Firelord
The Titans
-
Description
: Tall, elegant, graceful and powerful. With metallic skin, and lightning in their eyes, this race has within their ranks some of the most powerful beings in the universe. They travel the cosmos, bringing order where order is needed, and safeguarding planets.
History
: The Pantheon are the leaders of the titans. They have traveled to millions of planets and defeated many of the most evil races in existence. Once they found their way into our planet, that was ruled, at that time, by the Old Gods and the Elemental Lords. The Old Gods were beings almost as powerful as the Pantheon, they put up such a great fight against titans that, when they realized the Old Gods could not be defeated by them, the Aesir and Vanir chained these foul beings on the deepest bottoms of Azeroth. Then they molded the world, to make it suit for living, and in the middle of the continent made a well made of pure, raw energy; the Well of Eternity. In order to make sure such evil beings never escaped their prison, the Pantheon chose a champion to watch over the Twisting Nether and banish any vile race that dared disturb the peace. Sargeras, the Champion of the Pantheon’s cause watched over that realm for eons. Until he found a race so vile and manipulating that it had turned entire nations against each other, simply by whispering in their ears. The Nathzerim, as they called themselves, were defeated by the titan, but their corruptive power was so great that eventually maddened even the most benevolent being in the universe. Sargeras fell from grace and released all the monsters he had imprisoned, his platinum skin erupted into lava and his white beard caught eternal fire. He believed there was no hope left for the universe, so The Dark Titan decided to create an army so powerful, so omnipotent, that it would exterminate all existence. Thus was born the Burning Legion.
"I have witnessed the rise and fall of empires. The birth and extinction of entire species. Over countless millennia the foolishness of mortals has remained beyond a constant. Your presence here confirms this."

The Dragons
-
Description
: These huge, winged reptilian beings are the eldest races of Azeroth. They were created by the Titan’s themselves to safeguard our plane, and are usually much more powerful and intelligent than the races that hunt them.
History
: When the Titan’s defeated the Old Gods and chained them underground, they were ready to move on to another planet, but they did not leave us alone. It is believed the Pantheon made the Dragons from a colossal proto-dragon known as Galakrond. His origins and what happened that caused his death are unkown, but he was bigger than all Aspects together. The titans left the dragons as guardians of our world and gifted them with power over it’s aspects, from the raging earth, to time itself. There are five dragonflights and each one of them is lead by an Aspect. The Aspects each were gifted with power from the Titan’s themselves and are one of the most powerful entities on Azeroth.
The Black Dragonflight, gifted with power over the earth, is lead by the one originally named Neltharion, the Earth Wader. Neltharion was empowered by Khaz’goroth with domination over the earth.
The Blue Dragonflight, gifted with power over the arcane, is lead by the now-crazed Malygos, the Spellweaver. Norgannon, the Titan in charge of all the magic, and keeper of the Pantheon’s knowledge gifted Malygos with power over all magic.
The Green Dragonflight , gifted with power over the Emerald Dream, is lead by the Ysera, the Dreamer. Eonar, keeper of life, gave to Ysera power over the dream world.
The Red Dragonflight, gifted with power over life itself is lead by Alexstrasza, the Life-Binder, who was also gifted by Eonar.
The Bronze Dragonflight, which was given power over time, is lead by Nozdormu, the Timeless One. Aman'Thul, the high-father of the Pantheon himself, gifted Nozdormu with a drop of his power.
During the first invasion of the Burning Legion, the dragonflights were undecisive about what to do. They only made their move once it was already too late. Neltharion, the Earthwarder, now known as Deathwing, the Destroyer went insane and unleashed the full power of the Demon Soul over his enemies, wiping out most of the Blue Dragonflight, and forcing the others into hiding until very late in the war. So ended the Age of the Dragons.
"Do you like fire? I'm full of it."
~ Deathwing, The Destroyer
"Even Deathwing will pass into time... even he will eventually be part... of my collection..."
~ Nozdormu, The Timeless One.
The Nathrezim
-
Description
: The Dreadlords, as they are usually refered to, all have and average of 8.5 feet in height, wings, and horns that rise up high above their heads. They are cunning and intelligent demons, who were discovered by Sargeras whilst he was still noble and trying to purge this land in the name of the Pantheon. The Nathrezim act as tacticians and lieutenants upon the field of battle in time of war, as well as being emissaries and agents for the fiery lords of the Legion.
History
: Little is knows of their home planet. Masters of trickery, manipulation and deceit, the Dreadlords take pride in the destruction they cause on Azeroth. During the Legion’s second invasion they commanded the undead legions, bringing destruction to the lands of Lordareon. Fortunately(to us), the Nathrezim lost much of their power when their numbers dwindled to Sylvanas’ banner. That lead to the popular belief that Varimathras was the last live Dreadlord, and the rest were killed in the Third War. Though many of them did die in the Third War, the continued existence of Balnazzar and the recent discovery of Mal’ganis’ revival suggests that Nathrezim are either immortal, or extremely hard to kill.
“Do not trust the Dreadlords, death knight. They are the Lich King’s jailors!”
~ Kel’Thuzad, The Archlich
"We're not a cult so much as a maniacal group of fanatical, blade-wielding zealots." ~ Varimathras, Arch Lord Of The Undercity
The Satyrs
-
Description
: These former elves were taken by the demons and twisted into shapes that more accurately reflected their nature. In place of their former sinewy elven bodies, they now possessed massive hairy forms, standing upwards of 9 feet tall. Their hands became claws, their feet replaced by cloven hooves and horns sprouted from their head.
History
: During the first invasion of the Burning Legion, Xavius, high counselor to Queen Azshara, was defeated by the young druid Malfurion Stormrage. Though his body was dead, his soul was taken by the Dark Titan and punished, twisted in ways that one can’t begin to fathom. In order to be able to redeem himself, Xavius was turned into the first satyr. His job in Azeroth was to recruit other of the high elves into the ranks of the Legion, so they too could become “gifted”. He recruited enough so that, when he was turned into a tree and the Well of Eternity exploded the satyrs continued to serve Sargeras.
"Please, accept this humble offering, oh great one."
~ Terestian Illhoof
The Aqir/Qiraji/Slithid
-
Description
: These insectoid beings came from the the Well of Eternity itself. Their carapace makes for better armor than most of what is used by the Knights of Stormwind. Though they may not look like it, these creatures are incredibly powerful, and endlessly evil. Their size can range from that of a normal insect, or twice the height of a Night Elf.
History
: Long before the Legion, the Orcs, the vile Scourge, and when the Kaldorei civilization was still at it’s very beginning, the world of Azeroth was one big continent, surrounded by the sea. On the east lived the Troll empires of Zul’Aman, to the north , and Gurubashi, to the south. Though violent towards each other, these two empires united to face a much more serious threat. To the east lived the ancient civilization of the Aqir, who was bent on annihilating all non-insectoid life from the planet. After much hardship the Trolls managed to get one true victory over the Aqir, and split their empire in half. The ones to the north went to the cold wastes and eventually evolved into the Nerubians, the ones to the south went to the deserts of Silithus and evolved into the Qiraji. The Qiraji made their home at Ahn'Qiraj, and to this day, serve blindly to C’Thun’s mad will.
"Soon you will know the price of your meddling, mortals... The master is nearly whole... And when he rises, your world will be cease!"
~ General Rajaxx
The Nerubians
-
Description
: These spider-like beings are an offshoot of the Qiraji, that made their homes in the cold wastes of Northrend. The most impressive characteristic of Nerubian society is their architecture. They’ve built entire underground cities and necropolis, and, even the so proud Lich King was impressed by their job, so much so that most of the Scourge’s architecture is based on Nerubian structures.
History
: These arachnids stayed in peace underground for many years, and, in that time, gathered a vast collection of arcane knowledge. They’d rarely disturb the other races, safe for kidnapping some humans for experiments. Their peace was first troubled when the Lich King was thrown into Azeroth. As he extended his reach over Northrend, the powerful empire of Azjol’Nerub stood in his way. They sent their elite-guard to attack the walls of Icecrown and stop the Lich King’s mad bidding. Quickly trying to recover, Ner’zhul found out that the spider-beings not only were immune to his necromantic powers, but to his telepathic mind-control as well. Unfortunately for the underground empire, the Lich King, with the aid of the Dreadlords, was quick to retaliate and invade the kingdom of Azjol’Nerub. Tough he could not turn the live soldiers to his will, he could raise the dead ones to fight in his side, which started a civil war within the kingdom, and led to it’s ruin. To this day the rebellious Nerubians fight against the Lich King’s armies to regain control of their empire.
"A Nerubian: 'Look, brothers! The traitor king!'
Arthas: 'Who? Me?'
Anub'Arak: 'He is referring to me, death knight.'"
The Naga
-
Description
: Naga only marginally resemble the noble race they once were. Their proud Kaldorei visages are warped and twisted. The naga are part night elf, part serpent, and some have evolved bizarre oceanic mutations. The Well of Eternity’s residual energies are unpredictable, and their mutative power manifests in different ways.
History
: During the Sundering, Queen Azshara and her most loyal servants stayed in the palace. While the whole structure came tumbling down, Azshara heard the Old Gods asking her if she wanted to serve, persuading her. She accepted, and when the Well’s waters reached the palace, her lungs filled with water, but she did not drown. The queen and all those still in the palace had been turned into the vile Naga. They slept in the depth of the oceans for many years, but once they awakened they started building a new life for themselves, which resulted in Nazjatar, the underwater city of the Naga. For 10.000 years they stayed in the depths, until a group of them, lead by the sea witch, Lady Vashj, answered the summons of Illidan and eventually followed him to the Outlands. Those who did so now make their home in the Coilfang Reservoir, the others await in their sunken city for when the time is right.
"Water is life. It has become a rare commodity here in Outland. A commodity that we alone shall control. We are the Highborne, and the time has come at last for us to retake our rightful place in the world!" ~ Lady Vashj, Coilfang Matron
The Ogres
-
Description
: These creatures from the world of Draenor are the one of the last race’s of the planet’s giants. Taller then the Orcs, with whom they shared their home with, these brutes have their entire culture centered over war and feats of strength. Contrary to popular belief, the rare two-headed is not the smartest of the species, for that place is held by the blue-skinned magi.
History
: In the world of Draenor, many of the Ogre clans were slave to the powerful Gronns, and those who were free of Gruul’s grasp lived in the mountains, without wish for war against the Orcs, Gronn or the blue-skinned Dreanei. During the time of the Orc’s corruption and the opening of the Dark Portal, many Ogre clans were enslaved by the bloodthirsty green skinned savages that the Orcs had become, other joined the horde willingly. They fought against the Alliance during both the first and second invasion, but with Gul’Dan’s betrayal, the ultimate defeat of the Horde, and closing of the portal many clans freed themselves, the others simply left the now defeated Horde. Many years later, after the second coming of the Legion, the Stonemaul Clan was conquered by Rexxar, the Mok’Nathal and once again joined the Horde, now under Thrall’s leadership.
"Me smash! You die!"
~ Ogre
The Goblins
-
Description
: Goblins are small, green creatures with pointy features and high intelligence (though often little common sense). The Goblins value technological discoveries as a way to increase their commerce, and their whole race is knows for their machines. Every other race knows that Goblins are the ultimate schemers and con artists, always looking for a better deal. Their society is ruled by the various trade princes, who each command a Goblin holding around the world. All these rulers stay in the underground city of Undermine, on the Isle of Kezan, the race’s birthplace.
History
: The Goblins have been around for a while, but were reclusive to other races for a long time. Initially they lived in the Isle of Kezan with but a small fraction of their current intelligence, as slaves to the Jungle Trolls, who used them to mine subterranean tunnels, where the Trolls didn’t like going. While mining the Goblins found a mineral known as kaja’mite, which was used by the Trolls for their voodoo rituals. Quickly the tiny beings realized the mineral held enchantments unknown to the trolls, and used it to craft some crude items inside the tunnels. Strangely, the kaja’mite also increased the Goblin’s intelligence, and, eventually, they were able to overthrow their masters and conquer the isle. They declared Undermine their capital and quickly expanded their knowledge. Unfortunately, the kaja'mite's power was finite, and eventually the Goblins started looking for more sources of it. They did not find any, and their intelligence decreased, but did not go back to being what it once was. Why that happened, no one knows. Nowadays the Goblin’s are the masters of trade between the South Seas, and give sanctuary to (almost) all races in Azeroth.
“Gazlowe told me once, ‘Rezlak. There's one thing you need to know in life, and that's if you want something done well, do it yourself.’(…)Of course, there was one other thing that Gazlowe taught me, and that's ‘You can get anything done for a price.’”

The Ethereals
-
Description
: As I sit here with a feather in my hand and a piece of paper before me, I’m faced with a question. How do I describe that which has no form? Those called the ethereals are usually seen in their wrapping, giving them a humanoid form. What little people know is that the ethereals are actually pure energy beings, holding no real shape.
History
: The ethereals are sometimes called the goblins of the nether. They share the same political values and their government system works the same way. Their society is divided in many “companies”, each led by a different trade prince, called Nexus Princes by their subjects . Because of their physiology the ethereals are able to travel in the Twisting Nether very easily, allowing them to control the trades between worlds. It’s also the reason they were able to escape their homeworld’s explosion. The planet of K’aresh is known as the birthplace of that race, it served as their home for a long time, until Dimensius, the All-Devouring, leader of the void, attacked K’aresh, destroying it and starting a war that still lasts. Wether or not the invasion of the ethereals’ home planet was planned by the Legion, or even if the void is part of the legion, is unknown. Even the tomes of Medivh, found by me in his tower of Karazhan, did not hold that knowledge.
"If you've been sent to kill me, please take a number and wait your turn."
~ Nexus-Prince Haramad
The Centaurs
–
Description
: This is a creature you will not so easily miss. Though everything above their waist looks human, they do not posses the other part of their body as we do. Instead of two legs, the centaurs walk on four, giving them the appearance of a horse, and allowing them to travel very quickly and very steadily. Irregardless of their lower part, these creatures always look like barbarians, with an axe in their hand and hate in their eyes.
History
: Zaetar is one of the sons of Cenarius. He is the father of all centaurs in Azeroth. A long time ago, he was seduced by the daughter of Therazane the Stonemother, Princess Theradras.*, and the result of that were the centaurs. Though initially graceful beings, the cursed sons killed their father in a bloodthirsty rage and Theradas buried the remains with her in Maraudon, making it a holy place for the centaurs, and that they guard with their own life, keeping Zaetar’s spirit forever prisioner. The centaur society is now loose and nomadic. There are several clans, each led by a different Khan. The clans war against it each other, and the Horde and the Alliance incentives that, since it keeps them separate. If the centaurs were to all join together as one clan, they would pose a serious threat to all other races.
“They fight amongst one another, and for what? Scraps left over by vultures...lands infested by the Legion...bah! The centaur should be proud of their heritage--it's as proud as any Night elf's or orc's--it's time we started acting like it!”
~ The Centaur Pariah
The Vrykul
–
Description
: The vrykul are one of the “seed” races, meaning: they were created by the titan’s themselves, not evolved from another race. Half-giants, the vrykul have somewhat a similarity with humans, but are much larger and muscular, and almost all of them have beards.
History
: It is said that, in ancient times, the vrykul race inhabited a large portion of Northrend, having a large and prosperous civilization. But, one day, without warning or explanation, they vanished, and left behind nothing but desert towns and villages. With the recent exploration made by the Horde and the Alliance into the northern waste lands, the vrykul have shown their faces once again and started attacking all settlements enemies to the Lich King. The half-giant’s society is solely based on war, seen as those who die an honorable death may ascend into the heavens and become even more powerful. Their magicians are specialist on rune-magic, a practice so ancient that even the most well-traveled wizards find it unfamiliar. Recent discoveries have shown indicators that the humans descended from the vrykul, and are seeing by most as terrible mutations, ugly, and weak.
"Skarvald: 'A warrior's death.'
Dalronn: 'There's no... greater... glory.'"
The Tuskarr
–
Description
: These creatures are the kind you often mistake for normal beasts. Do not their looks fool you, despite their sea-lion looks, these beings have a rather evolved society, and make for a hard opponent or worthy ally in any fight. Their solid builds, thick torsos and broad shoulders, they habit in the cold lands of the north, and wear accordingly. With leather jackets and fur coats they make up for their lack of hair, protecting themselves from the cold.
History
: Little is known about the Tuskarr’s early history. Many believe they evolved from normal animals, and grew a large culture. Though they do not have a vast, unified kingdom, they do posses many villages scattered across the coast of Northrend, and keep a strong commerce between them. Most of their food and all of their economy comes from the bounties of the sea, and the Tuskarr rarely turn to the land for resources. But they have no trouble doing so, they are as great hunters as they are fishermen, and know the land around them like the palm of their hands. The “walrus people”, as sometime they are referred to, have their religion and magic centered around the spirits and the elements, making them feel more comfortable with the Horde then the Alliance. So much so, that when the first landing were made in Northrend, they turned to the Horde before doing so to the Alliance, and only did it after realizing they truly needed their help. They love peace and daily life, but have a great surprise in store for anyone they see as their enemy, so, when, and if, you encounter a village of the Tuskarr, be careful on your decision. They are both great friends and great enemies.
The Lesser Races.
On this segment of my writings, I’ll talk about the lesser races. Now, you may ask what do I qualify as “lesser races”, well; these races have many things in common, unintelligence among them. Another thing these races have in common is the fact that they normally fight against their own for trivial reasons, and if they would stop that and band together to form an unified army, they’d pose a serious threat to both the Horde and the Alliance.
The Kobolds
:
These humanoids retain many rat-like features, and, like rats, they rather stay in the dark undergrounds than come out into the light. Their lack of adaptation to the light is so great that they fear their own shadows, inexistent in the lands below. Even though they enjoy the shadows, they cannot see well in them, and, as a result, have a great affinity to candles, which they wear above their heads, and protect with their very lives. Despite their constant fear of everything, when backed into the corner, these beings will fight desperately for survival, and make for an interesting foe, since they are hardly caught alone.
Disregarding the ability they possess for stealth, the kobolds usually don’t rely on tactics to fight, and just try to swarm their enemies. The kobolds’ main activity is mining, usually for gold, mostly due to their underground existence, and they use that gold to trade with other beings (usually goblins) for necessary goods, and occasionally protection. Besides that, the only relations they have with other races are with the harpies, with whom they trade information for equipment. All in all, the kobolds’ society is based on bloodlines and digging groups, even though they feel little attachment to one another and will frequently leave other to die to ensure their own safety.
The Murloc
:
This race of fish like beings has been haunting the shores of Azeroth since ancient times. No one really knows where and when the murlocs originated, but it’s believed that they are one of the most ancient races in our planet. Their ability to travel through both water and land has made it so they are present in all continents, usually dwelling near the shore in small settlements, but never alone. This race has no love for the other races of Azeroth, and will attack any that comes near their villages. Still, it has been seen worship of the naga by these also ichthyoid being, which would explain their lack of resistance for when the naga enslaved the mur’gul, a group of deep sea dwelling murlocs.
The naga are not the only thing worshipped by the murlocs, as their faith usually centers around the ocean and the beings that live in it, or the murlocs’ surroundings as a whole, with their religions usually reflecting on current characteristics of the world around them, making it also be in constant change. Their settlement usually involves not much then a few poorly constructed huts, with shells, seaweed and coral decorating their insides. Rarely will there be any kind of fortification, or fire, and such, something that may be found in murloc villages are treasures stolen and collected from the sea, such as chests and pearls. Be careful if you seek these treasures though, because the murlocs have the habit of fighting in large groups, with one attracting the other, if the groups are fought, do not think you’ve won when you see them running to the sea, because it’s in there that they are stronger, and it’s to there that they will lure you for your demise.
The Troggs
:
Simple humanoids, the troggs are the first of the titan’s attempt to create life out of stone. However, it’s believed the process did not go as expected because of the Old God’s interference, and the troggs were the result. They retain the strength and rocky composition of the earthen, but lack their intelligence, usually eating stone to survive, sometimes themselves, because of such characteristics; the titans think the beings to be an unacceptable mutation. So they locked them underground in vaults such as Uldaman and Khaz Modan, but, thousands of years later, the dwarves, with their incessant digging, released these creatures from their deep sleep and now their pour of their holes, Hell-bent on annihilating their “pretty cousins”, who ironically let them free.
Despite their lack of intelligence, the troggs have an extremely easiness in causing destruction and being violent, usually walking around with blood-stained clubs, which they use as weapons. In battle they are not cunning, but are powerful, their stone bodies giving them a natural armor and strength, they tent to just bash on the enemy’s head with clubs until it dies and they move on to the next, spellcasters exist, but are extremely rare, usually being shamans or priests, who use their weak powers for healing others. Socially, they are not evolved, with the closest thing to social groups being the groups they walk around with and kill with, and, if it comes to it, get killed by. Some level of worship has been show by them when it comes to the creatures known as Salamanders, with whom they might or might not share their underground homes.
The Gnolls
:
Being considered by many to be a young race, these hyena like beings tend to live near or in the mountains of Alterac and Redridge, and are extremely hostile to all sentient races that dare walk into what they consider to be their land. Although smarter than the beasts from which they evolved, the Gnolls aren’t considered bright by our standards, and usually are seen fighting over ridiculous things such as who’s shadow is larger. They love fighting, and very adept at it, but, unlike most creatures, they are not motivated to do so by magic or greed, they are motivated to do so by hunger, and will eat almost anything necessary to survive, sometimes their own kin. They usually attack their prey with traps, and in disorganized groups, unless there is a strong enough leader, in which case they are able to fight in ranks, or even as an unit. This is a good example of how their society hierarchy is based on might, with the strongest one in the area being considered the leader, until someone comes that is stronger than him.
There are four kinds of gnolls, the brutes, possessing higher strength and a top place in the food chain, the assassins, who use more complicated weaponry, such as bows and poison, the poacher, who acts as a scout and hunter, and the warden, who has a deeper connection with nature, gaining some magical powers, which he uses to keep the other gnolls in line. Their society is usually nomadic, divided intro tribes, each led by the strongest brute present, they live in poorly made huts and, despite their very low intelligence, they mine for gold, using somewhat advanced mining techniques, such as railcars. Gnolls usually put themselves up for mercenaries in groups of no more than five, but, because of their violent nature, unless the person who hires them keeps them strictly under his rule, they will rebel and try to take over, making for powerful mercenaries, but hard to work with.

Please give me any feedback possible, and help me find quotes for all the races :)
Also, if you want me to add any other races to the list, all you need to do is ask.

Awesome thread!
If you need me to delete this post for more room for you I can.
Edit - while talking about the Satyrs, you say they were shaped in ways that no one can "phantom". I think you mean fathom. And for quotes, most of these listed here are races in War3. Try looking up some of the quotes the units would say after you clicked on them a bunch. There's a list on WoWWiki somewhere. For the Elementals you could use, "BY FIRE BE PURGED!"

Very good! Although I would like to suggest adding the worgen, although Arideni already seems to have covered most of them.

Meh, it's what I think of when I think of Ragnaros.

How about only italicizing the quotes?

Does the italics make it hard to read to others as well? The content is great but others might have issues reading it.
I don't think it makes it harder, but it's somewhat awkward. Italics is usually saved for special portions of the text - mainly quotes. I think it'll look better if you make it so here too.

I used the italic to give the impression that someone in medieval times had been writing it, but I'll gladly change it.

Great addition and I really liked how you wrote the Ethreal's part ^^, but ever though of using the title "Nexus Prince" instead of "Trade Prince"?
I say trade prince, because they are trade princes, I use it not as a title, more like and adjective, but I know how to add that. Be right on it.

Oh, that's getting interesting. Think you could arrange something with Queggy, so we don't have to stick two threads?
I have a few ideas in mind, but am also curious to see what you two can come up with...
