Elemental Mana issues?
Return to board index
Hey everyone so I'm currently a level 64 shaman, I have a pretty nice set I'd like to think (510SP and have the BoA shoulders and mace). However, I know I'm still low level but I'm curious as to know what elemental mana is like at level 80, I just ran Underbog with this pug and I can put out some nasty damage, but I find that my mana drops relatively quick, I'm at about 266 Mana regen so I'm just curious, is this only because I'm low level and I lack the required gear? Do 80 elemental shamans have mana troubles like that or not much. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
At 64, you should already have TS, which helps a bit with mana regen. Don't worry about the gear, Int comes along with it. Maybe you don't have enough crit (It's the crit that gives so much mana reduction to Elemental); also, don't worry about endgame, as soon as you start getting Northrend gear, you'll stop worrying.
Phew ok so it looks like it's just a lowbie thing since I don't have all that great gear :P well thanks a lot for the info
Since you have one piece of BoA gear, you might wanna consider getting the BoA trinket with Spell Power on which returns mana when you kill stuff. Also use tunderstorm on every cooldown if you got bug trouble with mana, it retuns mana no matter if it does dmg or not
At level 80 and with decent gear you will be hard pressed to run OOM in any fight. Elemental shamans' spells are relatively cheap to begin with and the tree benefits from a plethora of mana reduction/return abilities, passive and active. Even in extended encounters such as Kel'thuzad who also
, I rarely drop below 50 or even 60% of my mana pool.
(This begs the question: why does it seem like almost every mail caster piece on the PTR has MP5? Even the elemental T8 set has a beaucoup of MP5...)
hmm the only time i run out of mana, is when i have to offheal, and sometimes at kel when I have pushed the dps to the limit;D
I found that when I was level 64 I had the same mana problem on my shaman. It does get better though once you get high enough to put points far enough in Enhancement to pick up 5 ranks of Thundering Strikes.
When I was at your level I picked up Glyph of Water Mastery and Glyph of Flame Shock. Also make sure for your spell rotation you keep yourself down to using Flame Shock at start, then Lightning Bolts, and Thunderstorm if they get close. If you are doing an instance I recommend Magma Totem for AOE damage since last big patch it gets a great amount of our spell power plus it is a set and forget. If you want to toss chain lightning try to make sure it is only when Clearcasting has proc'd.
Oh and before I forget if you don't already have a totem macro you might want to make one so you drop necesary totems for instances and solo. I'm ocd so i tend to drop totems whenever I start to kill things to make sure I don't forget when I need them for groups.
The macro I use is:
/castsequence Totem of Wrath, Mana Spring Totem, Wrath of Air Totem, Stoneskin Totem
Now I think I'll shut up and go back to electrocuting puppy men :D
No way with
(glyphed for 2% more mana return)
and all the mp5 on ele gear (=/)
I cant even oom if i try
I feel bad when I end a fight with 90% mana.... and I am pushing 5k dps when doing that (not using thunderstorm). Only time I even think of going OOM is when there isn't a spriest/huntard/paladin in group and I get mana detonated 10x on kelthuzad. Don't worry about mana regen, it'll come as u level.
Yeah, as element, mana is hardly an issue. I feels wrong when a mage or moonkin have to sit down for mana and you are at 80%+ mana after of couple of fast pulls (regular instances).
Those QQ-ing about T8 having too much +MP5, remember some of those +regen buffs won't stack in raid anymore. So I welcome the +MP5 on the gear.
