So, good morning, TODAY IS PATCH DAY WHOHOOOOOOOOO!
Been wanting to play the revamped warlocks since....... ohh I dunno....... EVER? Gah, I hope that A: The maintenance doesn't last long, and B: the actual launch isn't like 3.1 (I still have bad memories of that patch)

I'm guessing about 3 hours and 25 minutes before General erupts into, "WTF is with this extended maintenance crap."

SHHHHHHH don't say that!
For a start, while its possible there will be one, its not guaranteed. The Shattering patch changed a hell of a lot more than this one, and it had no extended maintenance, and was in fact the most smooth patch I've ever seen.
The Pre-cata systems patch on october also didn't had any extended maintenance either.
Nor did the cataclysm launch.

Ok Joe, since you've made several posts, I will take you at face value and believe you want to be a part of the Off-Topic community.
1) Welcome to the recycle bin.
2) I agree that people who have been around for a while need to be patient with newer players. Many people have no idea that there are even "correct" specs and rotations, or places you can go to look them up, so it's a good idea to be informative rather than dismissive if someone seems new and confused. It also makes sense that as the amount of things to do in the game increases, the time per thing decreases slightly so that it's not an impossible challenge to accomplish it all this late in the game.
However, new players should also understand that older players have certain things they want to get out of their game time, and may not have the time to spend repeatedly wiping on a dungeon they're only in to get points, or to take several raiding weeks off to gear brand new players from the ground up rather than progress through the content that's a challenge to them with equally progressed players. Old people should be courteous to new people, new people should be willing to accept that people who are more advanced don't have an obligation to spend all their time helping new players accomplish things they've already done at the expense of accomplishing anything new. I find that a lot of normal (non-elitist) people's complaints about new players is not that they're new, but that they expect to do whatever they want and still be entitled to enter whatever raid and dungeon they want regardless of whether they're holding everyone else back or not.
New players who want to play well, and are willing to take advice if it helps the team, don't stay "new players" very long. New players who tell people to mind their own business about how they play and just invite them to the raid can be new players for years and years.
3) The mods generally don't like double posts- if you have the last post in the thread, and have something new to say, use the edit button. Otherwise, you may get a warning.
4) I don't know about other forums, but people on Wowhead- and in Off-Topic especially- don't have a lot of patience for "text speak." You'll have a lot more success getting answers to your questions using correct spellings and grammatical structure.

Great T_T why me? my updater is acting strange.
Ok step one I opened the launcher, it downloaded some tools and it closed, it opened a new small window called "World of Warcraft Setup" and it says its "Updating setup files"
It has taken forever and its still not done. Now, normally I wouldn't worry about this, hell I'd be more at ease if the progress bar was just in the same spot for a long time, it just means the whole process is happening very slowly. However, that's not the case, look at
this
. My progress bar stays there, then moves forward a little bit, then goes back to the same spot, then moves forward a little bit, then back to the same spot.
Its been doing that for the past 2 hours now, and I see no change in this. Other people have told me that after that progress bar is full, the new launcher should open up, and the 500/700 Mb file should begin downloading even if it says its at 0%.
But I don't get to that third step, I'm stuck here on the second one, with a bar that is moving back and forth on a 15 sec interval and its DRIVING ME NUTS. Either stay still, or finish loading already but stop moving back and forth T_T
