So this documentary I watched earlier started off great and then just went to hell. "There is no way the Egyptians built the pyramids, it's not possible or logical. The only logical explanation is that a civilization more advanced than us lived on earth a very long time ago, they all died in natural disasters and all that was left was the pyramids as a message to us through time."
How the !@#$ is that the only logical... how is that even logical... stop it.
T_T I think a part of my brain just died a little when I read that.
next they'll say we didn't invent the wheel, but that it was a gift from "those above us"

Natural disasters can mean a lot. There are natural disasters that could wipe out every single bit of life on our planet.
Not saying I believe all that bull^&*! about some more advanced civilization building the pyramids of course...

Poor egyptians, build one of the most impressive things ever only to have people say you couldn't possibly have done that cause you're not smart enough.
if its any consolation, the folks who built Stonehenge got the same treatment. (even worst if we think 'bout it)

well, its official :P
Bioware has disavowed the HORRIBLE book Mass Effect: Deception, and will be releasing a revised edition that will "hopefully" fix all the retcons, inconsistencies, and massive lore-stabs.
I just wish they'd do what George Lucas did with the Star Wars holiday special and simply declare it non-canon. But ohh well, a little is better than nothing.

Do you have the link? For the book disavowment, I mean, not the holiday special.

:P they apologized for the HORRIBLE quality of this piece of trash, and added this:
"We are currently working on a number of changes that will appear in future editions of the novel."
Honestly, I don't see how that book can be salvaged without having to start it from scratch.
Lore mistakes can be fixed, retcons can be mended, inconsistencies can be repaired, but none of that will change the fact that the entire plot of the book is still completely pointless.
furthermore, not only this book expands on NOTHING regarding the plot of mass effect, it also makes 2 of the other 3 books completely irrelevant as well.
Ascension and Retribution were building up the whole Gillian Sanders thingie and spend a great deal of time developing her character as well as that of Hendel, nick, and many others. Then along comes Deception and in a sudden move kills them all, for no damned reason.
one of them by a stab in the head with a toothbrush (no, that is not a joke)
it would had been easier to simply discard it as non-canon and be done with it, but what do I know?
On top of that, the third page of the mock comic for Deception is out
http://i.imgur.com/NPlYL.jpg
:P really funny xD.
but honestly, how else can you explain an autistic 15 year old girl aging 3 years in 3 months, and suddenly "outgrowing" her autism?

I would like to see the author's response to the company apologizing for how bad his book was. To be a fly on the wall at THAT meeting- lol.

he didn't apologized for "The Flood" to all the halo fans either, so I highly doubt he'll do it for this one, even though this one was far worst.
I mean really, we're not talking about nerdy nit-pickings here, we're talking MAJOR lore-raping on paper.
one teeny-tiny example:
On the previous book (Retribution) the Pirate queen of Omega Aria T'loak, finds her daughter murdered. Unknown to her, it was killed by a squad of Cerberus Black Ops, yet the Illusive Man, manages to make a deal with her, offering help tracking down her killer in exchange for Aria to let them move and operate in her sector (its kinda complicated, but lets leave it here)
this is all good.
Now, there is this comic called "Mass Effect Invasion" (it is AWESOME, and a TRUE lead-in to Mass Effect 3, I'll post a few pages of it later) in this comic (Based half a year after Retribution), Aria and Cerberus are still working together.
Here is the kicker though: the book Deception is based AFTER retribution, but BEFORE Invasion.
You may ask, "So what rank? what's the big deal?"
well, =/ on Deception, Aria finds out that it was indeed cerberus who killed her daugther, and vows to never work with them ever again, even violently clashes with the few operatives on omega.
yet for some reason, cue several months later, and in invasion, they are still working together.
see the mistake? and this is one out of 87 mistakes (of varying degrees of severity from the negligible nit-pickings, to HUGE LORE-RAPING).
Quite honestly, I now consider Dietz, the "Shyalaman" of writing.
Think of it as a fanfic, rankkorr :)
that would be an insult to fanfics, I've read more than a few (21 xD) fanfics of Mass Effect, of varying degrees of quality, and I can honestly say that they (save for like 3) are all INFINITELY better written than this book is.
