How do i get maximum DPS with combat spec
Return to board index
So just looking to get the most DPS out of my combat Rogue how should i spec and gear him. And when im in battle what moves should i use and in what order to get the most DPS out of him. Right now in only able to get 625 DPS at most usually its at 550 or around and about there. I'm using recount to get these numbers by the way. The problem im having is i entered my information on MaxDPS.com and it said with what i have i should be getting 944 DPS what am i doing wrong. My battles usually go Stealth, Garrote, sinister strike, shiv, slice and dice, sinister strike, shiv, sinister strike, and if the battle is almost over i will use Eviscerate, if not i use Rupture then sinister strike, shiv, sinister strike, shiv, sinister strike, Eviscerate. And my poisons are wound poison VI and Deadly poison VII. Someone plese help to have the best rogue i can. Oh and im trying to do raids with him not PVP if that's important. All help is greatly apprenticed thanks a lot.
A link to your armory would be helpful to start with.
Your rotation is atleast somewhere in the right direction, it should be:
2.Sinister Strike til 5 points
3.Slice and Dice
4.Sinister Strike til 5 points
and Eviscerate with 5 CP when SnD and Rupture are above 15 or so seconds. then 3Cp SnD 5 CP rupture and go bk to 5 CP snd etc
Welcome to the forums, Vorsayo!
Not sure why everyone prefers to use rupture still but heres my rotation.
2. Sinister Strike
3. 1 point slice n dice
4. Sinister Strike repeat to 5 points
6. Sinister Strike
7. Repeat Line 3
As for why your DPS is so low we'd really need to see your gear, talents, find out what poisons your using etc. Just to clarify to other rogues the reason I use eviscerate over rupture has to do more with overall damage than the fact that it does less damage, per hit than rupture. Rupture usually wins for damage by a small margin when specced accordingly, on average hits, (by average I mean when compared to an average eviscerate 5 point hit compared to a 5 point rupture) however it is a DOT and is incapable of critting. This reason alone is why I prefer to use 5 point eviscerates over 5 point ruptures, a gain of about 500 more damage does not compare to 8-9k crit eviscerates on bosses (that would be Raid bosses mind you) especially not when it crits more than enough to cover the damage gain from using rupture.
I'd just forget you even have the shiv skill for now. Also, what level are you? If you are 80 you aren't using the highest level poisons you can. It should be Wound VII and Deadly VIII.
Yeah I just went MAXdps.com plugged in my numbers and even turned on there raid buffs option, they showed me at 1351 dps. I can say with out a doubt I have never played so slopped in any raid or heroic to do that kinda of lousy dps, usually in heroic's I run about 1800-2000 dps and I have gotten up to 3400 dps in 25 man raids if you wanna check my gear my character's name is Illfated, farstriders US server. Because of seeing results like that I never use spreadsheets or dps calculators. If you wanna see for yourself how your doing in dps or test something I suggest using a heroic training dummy in one of the major while using recount. Usually 5-10 min sessions can show you how well something performs over something else. I'd mess around with different rotations see what you use the most then respec yourself best to how you play and put talents in the areas doing the most damage.
Please stop spreading invalid information. For an explanation of Rupture over Eviscerate, click
Also, Max DPS is a nice website, but it fails at being accurate. The only build it could probably simulate is a real Combat spec since it doesn't allow the use of, as far as I can tell, any other ability than Sinister Strike and Rupture. For this reason, don't expect much "DPS" since one doesn't use SS with dagger builds (and SS is pretty weak with daggers).
My characters name is Vorsayo and I'm the only one in the game just search Vorsayo to get a look at my gear and tell me what you think
Rupture > Evis for several reason.
- It ignores armor.
- Most conventional combat rogues will have Blood Spatter and possibly 2pc T7 bonus.
- Feral Druid Mangle will increase your bleed damage.
