Professions that go together
Return to board index
Im just wondering as the subject reads which professions go together. On my main character im doin minning and skinning for gold, but i made a few other alts and want to put other professions on them so as i lvl them ill lvl my professions also. so someday ill have all the professions lvled up. Im just wondering which go together and for which classes? i have a mage, 2 rogues, warrior, warlock, druid, and hunter im workin on, which professions should i do to them all? thank you
scroll down to the section called "Companion professions"
Which class gets what is totally up to you, but i would make the suggestion of not doing tailoring with a non cloth wearing toon, and the same for Blacksmithing on a cloth wearing toon, obviously those profs wont give you gear thats usable for the toon.
On my horde characters I have:
So far it's been pretty good. I took the 2 tailoring because of the shadow set and optional a healer set for my priest.
As they are mostly BoP.
2 times enchanting because both of my plate wearers will be tanks and be running plenty of instances. So there's a lot to disenchant as well tweaking my armor/weapons. Without having to rely on a random bloke that may as well steal your materials.
A warlock and hunter with mining is really nice. If the mine is guarded by a mob and someone from the other faction is present and waiting for you to kill the mob so he can get the mine.
You just send in ur pet at the mob and loot the mine. :]
Herbalism/Alchemist on a tauren is nice because of the extra skill of herbalism. It's cool to make pots and make the alts a bit better.
I have leatherworker on my hunter at another realm I never really found myself making a lot of gear. Only some mid-50 stuff and high end patterns were actually quite useful. Besides that being a Dragonscale LW I find it quite silly that any other LW speccer can make Black, Green, Blue Dragonscale armor pieces as well.
So my druid tank is checking it now for a melee perspective.
Blacksmithing is very classic for a warrior. It's a decent profession but in the end one probably only makes a few items. The huge stamina boosing Imperial Armor set is really nice. Before that there isn't really much useful that won't get replaced soon. Even in the mid 60s my other warrior was still wearing pieces of the Imperial set.
At level 70 a couple of great epic patterns will be available (at the AH), which are great for tanks. Some of them are BoP while others can be made for the paladin tank.
Engineering. Paladin lack the skill of pulling a mob properly untill a much higher level. So pulling it with a dynamite is useful. In overal leveling a paladin at lower level can be quite slow, so the bombs boost the damage a bit. I took it more for the endgame tanking helmet/goggles which are excellent.
Also the mote extractor is really nice for making money.
Jewelcrafting: Never made that many rings or neckpieces. But the end game gems are worth it. Really.
Ofc the other gathering professions are there to support those who are merely crafters.
