Why Do I Get Auto Disconnect When I Go On WOW?
Return to board index
I'm having a problem with my WOW. I play fine at home everything's great. At my school campus, in the dorms, its hell. Apparently, anyone here who wants to play WOW can't (pretty good definition of hell imo). Anyway, when we log on, after having downloaded all the patches successfully (from FILEFRONT, not the wow downloader, that wouldn't work) it connects us to the game, then in a split second disconnects us. I speak for everyone on my campus when I say -_-
So if anyone knows what could be causing this problem and/or what I can do to change this, myself and the rest of the SUNY Maritime WOW population would be eternally, and i mean, ETERNALLY greatful. Seriously our campus is so boring, this is like having no oxygen.
Thanks for your time, please don't answer this unless you can help. :)
Usually unis/colleges have proper firewalls, to stop the endless torrenting students tend to do, and to try and stop nasties from creeping onto, and around, the network. Due to this, chances are the downloader will always be somewhat unsuccessful, though there's always patch mirrors. (Had to use a mirror myself when I was at uni - unless I wanted to wait 2 years for the downloader to download it).
So your best bet would be to find the bravest/geekiest soul and have them interface with your IT admin to see if you can get your firewall fixed up for WoW players.
You may need to point your IT admin in the direction of the WoW FAQ where it says what ports WoW uses.
ok thanks alot man, hopefully the IT guy here will help us out, he's kind of a tool but I'm sure if we all pitch in to buy him a Taun Taun suit for the Star Wars convention he'll change his tune.
Campus is foar Runescape. Kthx.
( I know nothing about computers. leave me be! )
