just got into h mech with a party yesterday. the guild leader keep asking me to spam PoM at the start of each mob pull and throughout the whole fight even though his hp is still FULL. is this a wastage of mana? i only pom when the tank takes dmg around 800+ and my pom will heal just nice..

i know but won't it be better to spam pom only when the requires some healing. in order to save mana? he keep telling me to spam pom after every cd. sometimes he's@ full life. what's the rational behind?

Why wouldn't you want to spam PoM? It's the coolest priest spell. I bolt people with that for fun all the time just because it gives a funny knockback effect when it hits. I always start with pom then renew in fights.

Fixed. =)
The only time I don't PoM the tank when the cooldown hits is if the melee is taking damage, and the tank has PoM already. Once it bounces, I cast it back onto him. It's the most efficient heal we have, not to mention it gives you a chance to get out of 5sr if a melee is taking a bit of damage too. It's way cheaper than flash heal, and it does almost just as much healing PER bounce. I love it when melee is taking damage, because then PoM bounces, and all I have to do is cast renew and PoM. PoM is the #1 heal for priests next to renew. PoM in arena is a pain in the arse to dispel, so it's that much more useful.
Also, as discussed in the druid forum rescently, if you PoM and renew, and stay OUT of combat, the renew ticks don't count for your threat. Keep track of this on mob fights, especially big pulls. PoM and renew before aggro and the tank will have no healer threat to fight against, making it easier to establish aggro before you have to cast heals.

Spam? No.
Anyone know of a mod that would track PoM? I would say make sure it's always up to pass.
As a shadowpriest, I'll often pick it up from flay range, and I'll pass it back when I cast Shadow Word: Death.
Pretty much every fight has some sort of aoe damage, and having pom bounce around before recasting it is extremely helpful. I use a mod called MendWatch. If I see my pom has been on one person for a while, Ill recast it back on the tank and let the process start over again.
On some fights where the tank is getting absolutely stomped (like brutallis for example, no pun intended), I'll put pom on the tank everytime the cooldown is up.

It doesn't cause any threat for you, and actually helps the tank to build threat because it counts as though they healed themselves.
This.
