Why did Seth MacFarlane ruin Stewie Griffin?

Through the seasons, Family Guy's Stewie Griffin has been transformed from an egomaniacal genius to a slightly effiminate misfit to blatantly homosexual, and I take offense to this. Now, Stewie was funny before and he's still funny now, but not
as
funny. I mean if you'll remember, in the first season, Stewie was portrayed as an alien from outer space because he was bent on world domination... but he was just a baby. And that was the stitch and that made it funny. Someone so powerless wanting so much power.
At some point, somewhere, MacFarlane thought it funny to make someone bent on world domination also effminate but now the whole "make war" thing with Stewie is just completely out of the picture. It's a whole different character completely. Honestly, they should've killed off Stewie in an early season and introduced a new sidekick for Brian that just happened to be really gay and then vent your gay jokes through that character.
I just think the early Stewie was funnier. What do you think?

I disagree. There is only so far you can take a character before you must develop some new personality traits. I'm sure in the upcoming seasons he will change some more. Currently, Stewie is the funniest I have ever seen him.

In my opinion, the series is pretty much spiraling downwards into some area of being so completely inane it's almost insulting. I'm preferring shows like Futurama more and more, the Family Guy 'formula' of humor (which is, essentially, exactly how it's mocked on other shows) is getting pretty bland. I'm one of the people who hates the chicken fight scenes. For the record, though, Brian's brother is
awesome
.

The series went downhill after they got renewed.... seeing as they got cancelled and came back, they don't care anymore. As for Stewie; yeah he was much better when he was plotting Lois's death all the time, or trying to conqueror everything... till they did the 'Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie' episodes; after that point, they gave up on it and turned him into the self-hating homo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they have a reason for this in the cross over multi-episode of Family Guy and American Dad where Stewie actually does take over the USA and lois and him have some epic battle in the oval office eventually leading to his defeat?

They had Stan from American Dad on the 2nd part of the hour long 'Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie', but then they did the stupid dream thing at the end and said nothing about his homosexuality.... but it was after that point that it got worse and it became a running gag which stopped being funny a long time ago.... like the show itself.

To each their own.
Do you know the last time I laughed watching Family Guy? During the season premier this year, for the Disney Universe thing... It's just not funny anymore.

Look, I know Stewie has changed. Like in the earlier Seasons 1-3 Stewie was an evil mastermind, and now he's a homosexual who isn't about taking over the world. BUT, I don't think that Seth MacFarlane ruined his character though, I actually think he made his character better. The reason why is now Stewie has more to his character, because before the only think Stewie had was being an evil genius, but you can't really do much with that after a few Seasons. But now Stewie is less about world domination, and more about dealing with being homosexual and having deal with real world problems and things like that. But the reason why that is good is because you can do so many more things with that, and honesty it makes it 100x more funny.

Shall we be frank on this subject?
Seth ruined all of the characters when the series was renewed as everyone's trails were Flanderized.
Lois has embraced her wild side often enough to be a meme of a housewife, Peter was made to be a mental retard with no basic sense, Chris is more of a loaf and a lug, Meg seems to have become a the family gimp and her character is desperate on the whole, Brain is become a skirt chaser and quickly replacing Quagmire for town pervert and Stewie just fall into the trap of mellowing out of his evil and morphed into a stereotype of the Noreastern intellectual.
Yeah, they have been phoning it since it was $%^&canned and brought back to life.
