Confused: Low level Tanking (Warrior)
Return to board index
Right now my Warrior is level 20, and I have no idea the order I should be using skills while tanking. Theres so many now.
Im not sure if I should start with 5 Sunders if even that, then move to shield block and Revenge when available or what....Im completely lost.
Any Warrior help would be greatly appreciated.
I tanked from lvl 40-49 (I did 2 lvls in uldman then the rest in ZF) and I would always mainly use sunder armor and revenge. I used other things like if the mob was casting I would interupt it and all that but those are the main things.
Also to make ur life a LOT easier use the raid icons. In ZF most the fights were against 3 mobs at a time so I would use them and it would go like this
the first mob would get a skull over his head
the second a cross
the third a moon
and then I would have everyone attack them in order of course alternate between attacking them to hold agro but if everyone attacked in the right order I would always hold the agro but like I said you still need to alternate between them otherwise once the healer starts healing and the mage starts AOEing youll lose it and the worst thing that could happen is losing agro to a caster because they ALWAYS run away then you have to chase them down and try to get close enough to the mob to hold agro then the healer is using big heals to keep the mage alive and other things start attacking the healer and it pretty much always leads to a wipe.
Use revenge immediately whenever it becomes available. Use sunder armor otherwise. Use any leftover rage on heroic strike, or cleave if there's more than one mob. If tanking multiple mob, use thunderclap whenever it comes off cooldown.
(that said, I don't know if you even have thunderclap yet)
I know when I was tanking at lower levels on my warrior, I would use shield block whenever it was up to activate my revenge, then use revenge. Other than that, sunder armor until 5 sunders, heroic strike, thunderclap, and demo shout. I never even used cleave just thunderclap, demo shout, and switch mobs to keep aggro.
Other than that, sunder armor until 5 sunders
There is no reason to stop using sunder armor when 5 are applied to a mob. It still provides excellent threat.
Start off with 3 sunder armors, then start using revenge and pop a sunder when you can. That's what i did and i hardly lost aggro. By the way, take improved Thunder Clap as soon as possible as it provides excellent damage at that level, leading to faster grinding and also excellent threat for multi-tanking.
Revenge always does more threat than Sunder. The rage cost of using Shield Block is the same as Sunder, so it's a smart move to use Shield Block to proc Revenge because your avoidance is so low that you won't proc Revenge on your own much. Always use Revenge when it's up.
Thunderclap is wonderful AOE aggro, and I rotate using 2 GCD abilities followed by a TC ( using it every ~4.5 seconds) when there are 3+ mobs.
