Warriors vs Hunters
Return to board index
So I've got a Warrior, and my friend has a Hunter.
All he does is laugh like a hyena about how I'll never beat him dueling. Right now he's lvl68 and I'm lvl58 so we can't really fight, but when we both hit lvl70 it's on.
He's full of it though, right? If warriors have no shot beating anyone in duels why do they exist?
I think I'll wipe the floor with him cause I'm such a better player, but he just laughs. Is he right? Do I not have a shot?
ps- The second I hit 70 I'm buying my Merciless Gladiator suit. That should help a lot, no?
Inappropriate language. Please follow the
Warriors and Rogues are probably the toughest 2 classes for a Hunter. See the "Hunters in Arena" thread a little lower on this forum for some reasons why...
Sweeeeet. That's what I like to hear!
He's sooooo dead.
Generally you should be able to beat a hunter as a warrior. However most will keep you on your toes even if they do eventually lose to you.
And yes, getting the season 2 gear will help a lot. I would wait until you are geared until beating the hell out of him. Good luck in being the manifestation of Hubris for your friend
If the hunter is BM. Then its red hunter and red pet and warrior loses every time it's not on CD. Any other spec of hunter is cake for a warrior. Just try not to attack from the front as they parry and dodge alot.
Warriors do very well with hunters, unlike all other classes, hunters actually have to think when they fight a warrior.
Rogues/Priest/Locks/Mages are pretty much Beastial Wrath Nuke.
Pallies are kite and mana drain.
Shaman are basically the same strat, but they do quite well given the skill of a player.
Warriors have charge and hamstring. Mortal Strike really doesnt hit mail that hard. It still does quite a bit of damage, but not when you compare it to a MS on a Mage.
A good hunter when fighting a Warrior will keep a snake trap out for the hunter. It does decent damage, and slows giving the hunter a chance to kite. Charge only has a 20 yd range if i remember correctly.
Surv talents help out a bit.
Warriors have the advantage, but hunters can beat warriors.
Feral druids do quite well with hunters, but its very hard to consider a druid one class.
Just like he said, rogues and warrior is the worst thing a hunter can meet. Hunters cant shot when there enemy is too close so the trick is to just be as close to the hunter as you can then yo kill him, is he's not survival then he can kill ya anyways.
But i suggest you keep hamstring on him all the time so he wont run away and then its just to nuke him done
hunters can take rogues very easily actually. Heck, the pet does most the work. The only problem hunters have with rogues is if they are surv or mm. And if your surv, warriors are easy to kill. Figure in you carrying a melee wep that hits for 2k and can spell 50% additional avoidance. half of that additional avoidance is parry too.
If a hunter is smart, and knows his class, he can take a war 1v1. You can keep a war busy almost indefinitely. BM will pretty much handle a warrior if he's not smart. Wait for BW to be done, then go to town on him, but you will take a beating. Just try to get close enough he freaks and uses intimidation, procing your second wind. Equally geared, and equally skilled, I think the hunter has an upper hand, unless you have some good features to use, the hunter should probably win on open ground tho. He has to be skilled tho. Shooting at plate becomes a tedious task tho, the war I win intercept button is a pain for a hunter. But if he can take his time and pelt you down, he should be able to win IMO.
Make a weapon swap macro, and as soon as he hits his NOOBMODELOL button (Beastial Wrath) put a shield on, get into defensive stance, and spam the hell out of Shield Block (while chasing him, of course).
When NOOBMODELOL wears off, switch back to the 2h and kick his sad, gimmicky ass.
Also, if you want to make Intimidating Shout more useful than a 10 yard immobilize, switch targets to the pet before using it (after making sure you're in melee range of the hunter and he is hamstrung). The fear on the primary target of Int. Shout breaks on any damage, but the secondary targets fear behaves just like any normal fear, so you may have up to 8 seconds of free ass-kicking.
Yeah, it can be about the gear. I kick arms warriors' asses 99% of the time when they are in PvE gear, but they kick my ass 60% of the time when they are in PvP gear (I don't have a PvP set, unfortunately).
That few extra thousand hp and hundreds of resilience can
my warrior dominates hunters they cant take anything they sit back in the backround and think they are awsome but i can kill them in like 5 seconds flat np
As a BM hunter, as long as TBW/BW isn't on cooldown I seem to have no problems killing a warrior that isn't full S3 with a 'Gladiator' title. Sure, most good arms warriors take a huge chunk of my health every time I get hit, but with TBW/BW, frost/freeze trap, Intimidation, scorpid sting, trinket, stoneform (I'm a dwarf) I think I'm more than equipped to fight a warrior.
But shadowstep rogues, if they are smart will vanish or something during TBW/BW and come back. Usually I lose to good rogues, but am always close to killing them, its just the cheat death that saves them.
It all depends on how smart both player is. On my hunter, if it is a 1v1 duel, I generally stay far enough from the warrior to not let him get his charge off by sending my pet in and staying out of range. That will generally force them to use intercept. Most of them will hamstring me right away, but thats when I pop scatter shot, insigna of the horde, frozen trap.
Then you just keep them kited till they die. I find SV/MM hybrid does have its advantage over BM spec and vice versa. You get more tricks up your sleeve than BM pure pwnage. But it all depends on how well each player do. I've killed almost full s3 warrior in my pve SV spec gear. (took me like 10 mins tho) But there are those warrior that just comes in and kill you in 2 seconds.
In the end, its all about skill, tactics, and the player. I think gear contributes 50%, of course if you're in blues and he's in epics, you prob won't have a shot at winning.
Try to learn about the hunter class as well, know what spec he is so you'll know all the tricks he can use.
