File Errors

I've been having a lot of problems recently with my files, the game quits suddenly stating various errors, sometimes it is a zone such as Kalimdor or Karazhan, sometimes its a race, I've actually seen it say that there is an error with blood elf females (no, I'm serious), this is the latest one. This application has encountered a critical error:
ERROR #134 (0x85100086) Fatal Condition
Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Failed to read data.
This happens so often that I now keep an entire backup of all of my files on my secondary drive, but in less than a week that one will do it too and also be unplayable. The repair utility fixes this but it erases all of my macro's and all of my addons must be re-installed (backed up as well). Any idea what could be happening? I am getting so very tired of re-installing all these patches once or twice a week and I have missed a few raids because of this, thank you in advance.

It is unfortunate to have so many errors & be unable to enjoy the game to its fullest. However, remember that any "expert" advise on our forums should be read with caution as people of all types & backgrounds frequent the boards. Consider this a "disclaimer" & carefully weigh any decisions to try any offered solutions by posters "at your will."
For as much technical support as possible, please use the official channels provided by Blizzard. For example, I found this link which may help you:
Blizzard's Support Site - Error 134
.
Good luck & I hope you get things straightened out sooner than later!

If repair.exe fixes it, copy your Interface and your WTF folders and past them somewhere else on your hard drive. After the repair is done fixing your game, just put the folders back where they were - Interface will have your raw addons, and WTF will have macros, customized addon configuration, and all the other user data (including your account name if you have chosen the client to remember it).

Thanks Ari, you're good, any idea where I put my smokes?
And ArgentSun, the repair does fix it, I keep backups of all my files to reduce downtime, the problem is that it always seems to happen at the worst possible time (damn Murphy and his lawyers) so I end up playing on my backup files before I get the chance to copy back to the first one and these to become unusable, I'm going to try some of the things from Ari's link and make a 3rd copy and hope I never use it to play. Sadly my CD-Rom stopped recently so a total re-instalation may be a tad difficult, but I guess thats just something I had better get to working on since I'll need it for WotLK anyways.

Yes, I actually threw a pack of cigarettes in the trash can today. Yes, I am serious. No, I am not lying.
They are very bad for one's health (and the health of those in the vicinity).

I've ran the RAM check, nothing wrong there, my backup copies are on my secondary drive and they crash after about a week as well. Antivirus ans antispy are up to date, scan frequently, defragged all that good stuff, I have run out of ideas. I keep backups for easy repair but it's just a major annoyance now to re-copy all these files, I'm lost as to the next step to try.

While it may seem to be a memory error, rarely do stable computers actually have faulty memory. This is something people are quick to judge ("Oh, you have bad memory! Run MemTest86!"). However, the reality is that it could be software, or hardware still.
It could be: power supply, motherboard, processor, operating system, application files, etc.
I suggest going to Google & checking for a download called "Windbg" (WinDebug). You're a smart guy, and there are guides out there on how to perform a "bang analyze minus vee." It may take some research, and a good deal of time, but often you'll be able to trace the source of that error or memory leak, etc.
