Maybe I'm just missing something here, but it appears that the only
OFFENSIVE cat ability with BALANCE spec is Thrash (which OFC according to the spellbook, is for Feral and Guardian specs only).
We also used to have Shred and Ferocious Bite.
Shred was useful for damage improvement when in stealth and OFC Ferocious Bite was a finishing move...
Have I possibly nerfed myself by choosing the wrong talents, or is it simply that the changes have resulted in a very one-dimensional cat form for Balance Druids?
I have and play two Druids precisely because they are so versatile. For a single player out in the world (as opposed to dungeons and raids), it was IMO the best of all worlds.
For comparison, in BEAR form all I needed to do was SWAP some new talents for OLD talents, but the action bars still PLAY exactly the way I used to play bear form. Complete lack of parity or sensitivity here from my perspective.
Would appreciate some assistance and/or guidance here.
Thank you!

So, guess what... if you change Talent selection in the third row (Level 45) from Guardian Affinity to Feral Affinity you can get back a cat form that is just like old times...
OFC your Bear Form now becomes the same kind of one-dimensional, ONE offensive talent, excuse for a minion the the Cat Form had been before.
Swell, Blizzard! You people are unbelievable!
The Druid Experience (the "fantasy") is ALL about being a generalist... so in your misguided zeal to destroy the basic nature of the CLASS, you have presented us with choices which not only cheapen the core of the class for the character, but then compounds it by making it completely impossible for the specialized (previously a generalist) character to use the generalist capabilities of a SELECTION of shapeshifted forms, but turns them into ONE specialist form and FINALLY in our progression of choices we get to choose ONE shapeshifted form which does in fact have an array of capabilities.
Bottom Line: where before the druid and all her/his forms were versatile generalists, we can now have one versatile shapeshifted form and the rest of the versatility is sucked out of the game and thrown away.
Just out of curiosity, did you do this before or after you performed the same lobotomy on the Hunter Class. I know SOMEwhere there was a first class which was victimized.
If you keep trying to homogenize this game and catering to one-dimensional play styles you are going to wind up with a residual of one-dimensional players, followed quickly by zero-dimensional players and ultimately (just plain) ZERO players.
Prognosis: judging from the immensity of the mistakes you are making as you prepare to release Legion, as compared to the relatively minor fiasco that was "No Flying in Draenor" your disease is certainly well into the tertiary stage. In your efforts to control the "blood pressure" of the patient, it is never a good idea to dispense with the blood...

I've found that the new affinity talents actually offer a better experience than the previous generalization did. The idea is that you can shift into what's essentially a second spec without having to actually switch specs, allowing a druid to be an emergency tank or healer if things get hairy with a group or raid. That's something that hasn't been around for a couple expansions, and now it's back in a more viable form.
I found that I was actually doing more DPS in bear form than Moonkin form as I was going around questing to level. Part of that, I imagine, is due to the nature of instant melee attacks as opposed to ranged cast time attacks, but the fact that my off-spec was so effective was a nice change of pace for druid fantasy.
Prior to legion changes, I almost never left travel form or the form for my spec. Now, I find myself switching between them all situationally again. Before you shut yourself out to gameplay changes, go try them out and see what they play like, not the way they read. You may find you actually enjoy the changes the developers bring.
