Lf Advice on Organizing Dungeon Groups (Challenge Modes)

Time is running out to do Challenge Modes. Anyone who wants the Title, Achievements, Mount, and Gear, needs to act fast!
But I'm in a Catch22 situation in my guild.
The guild members who really want to beat the challenge modes already have their little group set. I will put out the word in my raid group this week, and see what response I get; but
so far
my mention in the guild of putting together a 2nd team has been returned with silence.
What's more, because several of the groups (outside of my guild) that have already done gold on CMs are of a very specific composition, I've noticed that most people have gotten it into their heads that X-Composition is THE ONLY composition that can beat CMs... despite the fact that groups that are not of X-comp have also beaten them. And thus I've noticed that everyone else is just "doing what the Joneses are doing." One group beat CM gold and posted a video, and everyone else, rather than figuring out the "challenge" for themselves, just did what group 1 did, and as a result there are a lot of groups with this one composition, and no one really wants the "challenge" of beating it any other way. Where's the challenge?
Being a Protection Paladin, I do not fit into X-Generic-Comp. Because they want to bind themselves to that mentality, I'm at a catch22 in my guild. So I have to go outside of my guild to find people serious about beating CMs. I don't care about Gold. I just want silver for the mount. And if we beat silver, then we can go for gold if we have time.
Problem 2
I have never put a group together. I've never been a dungeon leader (especially back in the days when that meant something, because now you just go smash stuff in dungeons)...
...So I don't know enough about compositions - what buffs we need and who supplies them, things like this. All I know is that we need a tank, a healer, two casters, and one melee; though three casters may work.
I'm looking for some experienced people to help me understand this, and I'm coming to
you
because quite frankly I'm pissed about the guild politics and elite group mentality. They may take me on their group later so I can get my mount, after they have gotten their gold; but that will just feel like charity. I would rather be part of a group that actually beat it; not some person they carried through out of pity because I wouldn't let it drop. What's more, I will have to go as Retribution, not the spec I want to play.
Please advise me.
(NOTICE: To any Horde who want to beat CMs, but are in a similar situation - If anyone here would like to get silver or better in Challenge Modes, please let me know. And if you just want to collect mounts and forego gold, even better (I personally don't care about the transmog gear, and the gold achievement would be the only draw for me to complete gold), though I'm up to gold if we have time. Just be prepared for the "challenge", and do a little research. Know your class inside out. Be prepared spend some hours watching videos and streams, be prepared to re-forge and re-gem one set of gear (preferably a set with a lot of gem-slots) . . .and be prepared mentally to bash your head against a wall for a few hours a week as well—I've stepped into the challenge mode a couple times, and it's not easy, and I advise you go into one at least once to see what you're getting yourself into. Also, have a fast enough computer and internet connection so that lag on your end won't be an issue. =) )
