Will professions get any better in WoD?

Do you think that professions will change at all with WoD or will it just be a new tier of mats and items.
I've long been annoyed that Blizzard hasn't changed much in the profession area or has made things worse from the perspective of the person using the profession(glyphs being bound to player). With each expansion we get our new ore/herb/skin versions that basically allow us to make the next tier of gear with the occasional pet or mount thrown in to make it more attractive to players.
So many people seem to ask, "Which profession should I choose for the stats?" If you are leveling a profession for just the stats and maybe a cooldown once in a while, it seems like things need to be changed.
Do you think we'll see any improvements in the profession area or will it continue to be a fairly boring part of WoW?
I can't find him for the life of me now, but the profession designer is on twitter, and he was saying just a few weeks ago that there are plans for material daily cooldowns that he thinks we'll really like.
Beyond that, we know nothing. We'll probably see it in a Dev Watercooler in a few weeks. I don't expect any huge upgrades (although the interface needs it badly), but we can count on some quality of life stuff I think.
Profession benefits are going away, so an enchanter will no longer be able to enchant their rings, Blacksmiths won't be able to socket their items etc.
Professions will purely be to create items, I'm hoping they will introduce more cosmetic items, maybe even BoA items such as the staves scribes can craft.
They are making the strong professions weaker rather than the the reverse. The only possible exception to that may be Engineering and that may not last either. I really dislike the gutting of JC and Enchanting. Alchemy outside of transmutation is already dead and Inscription is only a small bit better than that after the first months of an x-pac have passed. The three Armor making professions are pretty dead* except for the first 3-4 months of an expansion.
*not totally dead. Bags & a few Weapons still make a steady profit but they are outliers.
