New MMO keyboard and mouse
Return to board index
I'm thinking of rejoining World of Warcraft. As such, I'm in the market for a new MMO keyboard and mouse. I used to use a Razer Naga, but the keys on side stopped working after numerous years of use. I was considering buying the newest version of the Naga, but the Logitech G600 caught my eye and is currently the number one contender for my choice as an MMO mouse.
In terms of an MMO keyboard, I'm also taking a hard look at a Logitech product: the G510s. I've also been looking at the Corsair Vengeance K95. I like the G510s' aesthetics, the LCD screen (which could be awesome depending on how well games support it) and the fact that it's $50 cheaper than the K95. But the K95 is mechanical and has pretty much identical features to the G510 minus said LCD screen.
I'd love to hear some opinions about what I should go with or other options I should be considering.
I use a first-gen Steelseries WoW mouse, so no advice to give on that front.
About the keyboard, though: mechanical keyboards have a different feel from rubber dome ones, and if you absolutely cannot imagine using a keyboard that feels different to type/press keys on, don't go for one. A keyboard with brown cherry switches ("stealth" keyboard with "orange" switches if Razer) will be most like what you're used to, but will still feel different; a keyboard with red or black switches will feel quite different and will take a while to get used to (by no means bad though). You might want to avoid blue switches, though. I don't really understand why clicky switches are an advantage.
