So I have been doing SoO LFR and its pretty fun on my hunter. That is until I look at my recount. I am doing around 50k dps as a BM hunter. I am and insanely competitive person so when I see that I am not doing EVEN CLOSE
to what other hunters are doing it makes me angry especially when they have around the same gear and spec as me. Plus it bothers me when others yell at me for doing less then 80k dps or something.http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/dragonblight/Caix/advanced
Now I know my gear isn't optimized and I am playing BM (which isn't really the best anymore) but noxxic says I should be doing 115k at my iLvL but with gear that isn't optimized I'd expect to be doing at worst 80k.
I am following this rotation almost exactly
:http://forums.elitistjerks.com/index.php?/page/articles.html/_/world-of-warcraft/hunters/mop-beastmastery-54-r81#Priority_and_PlaySo my main question is what am I doing wrong?
Does my gear have to have gems enchants and proper stat reforges to do decent DPS? (Which seems kinda pointless to waste all that money until you have BiS)
Also sorry for posting this as I bet you get a ton of these threads as I know that hunter is considered to be the noobiest class. Sorry for being so bad.

Do you plan to be doing any pvp? Are you doing any pvp in this spec? Currently the choice of talents is very pvpesque.
First of all. Its not true that BM is no longer best. Its just that SV is now competitive, especially on suiting fights.
Noxic dps rankings have simulations. You cant compete with simulations and you shouldnt. You should compete with your own perfomance on the similar circumstances (may the future you be better than past you). Also it doesnt matter what your dps looks like on the meter. Its not important. Did you do everything in your power to dps right targets? Did you survive? Did you execute the boss mechanics properly? Did boss die? Those are important, not some recount. The dps you are doing is a guide for you and only for you. You can try to check other hunters damage breakdowns to see the difference and maybe analyse your mistakes, but the fact they are doing more numbers doesnt mean they are doing it right either.
Let ma quote my statement from another thread.
BM is very good on single target fights and stationery aoe with stacked up mobs (Burrow attack of worm+beast cleave combo).
SV is more versatile its very good on any "cleave" fights, where there is more targets to shoot at. Its aoe doesnt require the targets to be stationery and so stacked like BM.
You can set up your talents to either capitalise on certain spec strenghts and than use them depending on the fight or you can try to reinforce the weak spots making one spec versatile enough to use only 1 spec for everything. I prefer the first approach myself. I use BM as a strong single target (Direbeast, Glaive toss, Blink strikes) with occasional aoe as long as there is no traveling between targets. If i have to do a lot of target switching, there is aoe involved and targets are far away from each other i use SV (Thrill of the hunt, Barrage, Blink strikes*).
There is no rotation, therefore there is no way you can follow anything exactly
. Its a priority list.
Pretty inaccurate too as it doesnt count the tier 16 bonuses (which you dont have yet) and assurance of consequence trinket. Its also unreadable and confusing for someone who doesnt know hunters. Eg. some abilities are off gcd and can be used together, some abilities can have higher or lower priority depending on the situation both macro (environment) and micro (toon).
Rapid fire on 8th? /facepalm That multi target "rotation" without any mention about Burrow attack and intervals of Multishotting to keep Beast cleave up? Terrible. Check this site instead: http://www.icy-veins.com/beast-mastery-hunter-wow-pve-dps-rotation-cooldowns-abilities
(note: you dont need to apply hunters mark any more as its applied for you). I dont agree with many thing son it, but its much less confusing and explains way more for a newbie person than that EJ chart.
How my opening looks like.
If i am afraid i am gonna pull aggro and my pet dies (those skiddish tanks cant even overaggro 600k burst) i go:
1. Dire beast + Glaive toss
2. Bestial wrath + Kill command macroed together
3. Rapid fire + berserking (racial) + stampede macroed together
4. Arcane shot if i am close to capping focus, else Serpent sting
5. Dump focus with Arcane shot and Kill command
6. Refresh sting with cobra with 3 seconds remaining
8. Focus fire as soon as available and wont cap focus.
7. Keep going with normal stuff and focus management firing everything on cooldown (and pooling focus before Bestial wrath).
If tank already has aggro or he is any decent and pulls with taunt i will replace 1 and 2.
Lets you kill shot something without switching your target. See any nameplate thats low? Mousoever and kill shot. If you want to kill shot your current target make sure you rclick the mouse over so your cursor disapears and doesnt interfere with the macro.
#showtooltip rapid Fire
/use Virmen's Bite
/use rapid fire
Use on cd.
Again nameplates addon great for this - see something casting? You can interrupt without switching the targets. Just hoover your cursor over the casting mob nameplate. Interrupts are off gcd so have zero cost for your dps. Interrupting something this way gives great satisfaction and boosts your mood and performance.
#showtooltip spirit mend
/cast call pet 4
/use spirit mend
/use spirit mend
/use mend pet
My all in one healing macro. You can leave the Spirit mend on autocast now - it should cast it on low HP targets.
#showtooltip kill command
/use call pet 3
/use bestial wrath
/use kill command
Pets tend to despawn sometimes this will automatically summon one if you dont have it out - change the number for a pet you are currently using (counts from bottom). allows you control over whether you want to use bestial wrath with that kill command or its a waste (target about to die). Pressing it with anything (alt, ctrl, shift) will only do Kill Command.
You need some sort of tracking for focus, available cooldowns, available skills and duration of buffs and debuffs. You need this information ins one place easily readable. I use weak auras
and stay focused
addons. You need to plan ahead, therfore you neec to know how many seconds left till your major cooldowns are available. Omnicc
is also great for changing the analog completely unreadable animation/texture on icons for digital ones (numbers). Nameplate addon is also good as default nameplate are outright terrible - i use Tidy plates/Threat Plates
. You need keybinds - you need to be using your abilities without looking at your keyboard and minimise the reaction time to minimum. Here is one of the available guides on the internet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQnQ42fWeR8
As BM you basically have to use all the cooldowns as soon as available as long as there are targets to dps. Get rid of Murder of Crows its a min max talent that only complicates things for you - use Blink strikes. Exilaration is absolutely terrible for pve - use Aspect of Iron hawk. Narrow escape - again pvp talent. Use any of the other. Glyph of mirrored blades is absolute trash - i use Liberation. MM is absolutely terrible for pve and should never be used at any circumstances. Get rid of it and replace it with much more useful sv.
1. You havent enchanted, gemmed or reforged your gear (those couple of items dont count). Ilvl isnt everything if you use only 60% of its potential. You are horribly over hit capped (2500+ of secondary stat down the drain). Try to get at least uncommon gems, the shouldnt be that expensive. 528 lfr gear and 535 timeless isle gear is gonna be as good as you can get so far - so gem and enchant it properly. Get a Scope for your weapon.
2. As a BM at this gear levels you should be going hit to cap > crit > mastery > haste.
You got this exact the opposite
. Hit over capped by 2500 > haste > mastery > crit. This spec cant work like that. You currently have nothing benefiting from haste - no meta, no rppm trinkets, no legendary cloak, you get best synergy from crit and mastery.

as far BM goes i cant offer much help since i dislike it and always go SV/MM over it.
i can tell you some things that will help you out no matter the spec.
you need 7.5% hit and expertise. bit less is acceptable a tad above is less desireable cause you waste stats but sometimes unavoidable.
you however have 7.96% expertise of which 0.46% is wasted try reforging out of some of it.
even worse is the amount of hit you got, which is a whopping 14.65% which is 7.15% too much.
you should reforge out of hit as much as you possibly can. now i can see why you gem agi/hit. all of those socket bonusses give enough + agi too make it worthwile usually, but if you hover still too far above 7.5 trade your purple agi/hit for pure agi ones. except your helmet purple gem that unlocks the +180 agi bonus.
also your meta gem is really bad for hunters, since it seems you havent started the legendary quest line. you cant get the best meta gem avaible too hunters. instead you should use Agile Primal Diamond
you also seem too not have enchanted any piece of gear. doing this will grant you a good dps gain also. especially if you get Lord Blastington's Scope of Doom
on your weapon.
(the optimal enchants for each piece of gear is mentioned in the EJ guide)
i'll leave the tips of which stats too best reforge into at that ilevel too experienced BM hunters.
but remember too first reforge out of your hit (and a bit expertise) too reach the value's of 7.5% instead of going far over it as you currently do.
PS: you forgot too gem your gloves
