Leveling a rogue in 5.4, fastest spec?
Return to board index
So I am currently geared out the wazoo with my rogue. Full BoA's, full high end enchants, here's his armory -
(Don't mind the fact he's trinketless, I have those on my Enh Sham at the moment cause I'm leveling multiple toons. So they are getting swapped back and forth)
My question is, which spec is fastest with leveling? I do have 2 Crushing Mass of McGowans also if need be, with my own enchanter and nearly unlimited enchanting mats. So switching anything around won't be an issue.
I do not know much about rogues, so I came here hoping for help.
Thanks in advance for your time
There isn't enough information in your question to answer it fully.
If your going to level through PvE, combat is the simplest to learn and with two McGowan your pretty much set through 80 (or 85).
PvP is definitely going to be Sub's shining glory and your probably shouldn't roll anything else if your planning on the majority of your experience coming from bgs. Assassination performs adequately in both, but is more complex than combat while not gaining control as quickly as sub. You've clearly got a pair of Heartseekers as well so your free to experiment all you like.
Try switching them up as you go because the one you find the most fun will always be the fastest.
I had planned on doing a good bit of PVP as well as dungeons on the side and yes a bit of questing in the background. My priority will be PVP > Dungeons > Questing > Farming ore.
With my current gear, is it possible to just switch over to sub? Since I'm already assassination?
How much of a different play style is it?
Also, i've recently updated all of my BoA's to the lvl 85 versions... pain in the rear but thank god for DMF too!
I am a relatively new rogue, so when I did my leveling I found better survival in PvE with my Combat spec. Since you have BoA you don't have to worry much, but for me, it was also nice to have the freedom to not have to have a dagger in my main hand. I will also agree that Sub spec is a lot of fun in BG's and at higher levels the Sub spec plays more to my style (I like getting to the back line and creating havoc for healers and casters). Shadow Dance lets you get additional Garrotes off, and the more time you can control a caster, the more help you'll be for your team.
Best of luck though and I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy playing a rogue :)
