A Garrison-like Idea

I'm sure this idea has been kicked around before, but after reading about the Garrison feature in the upcoming Xpansion, I can't help but revisit it.
At the beginning of MoP I had an idea very much like the Garrison and collections feature. Simply put, I thought it would be cool if you could have your own homestead/castle (that resembled your character's racial style and maybe even class) where you could keep and display vanity items on a shelf and transmog armor sets or even just old dungeon/raid sets on their own display stands. You could store and plant food ingredients, improve profession skills, test out abilities on a practice dummy, and to logout and gain rest (XP boost) faster than you would if you logged in a city or an inn. You could set your hearthstone to your own hearth and employ a mage for a portal to whatever city you wished to visit. Hell, you could have some of your pets/companions roaming the land. After all that daydreaming, I finished up by thinking that you could link your alts to your main homestead/castle/garrison and they could utilize it as they leveled up.
It was a big, grand idea that would be a lot of work and would most likely be thrown out if pitched, but I think most people would enjoy it. The idea works as a personal bank/storage place with more personal customization. It's not even too far to imagine Guild's having their own hideout/garrisons phased in a capitol city. Emblazon buildings with your guild crest and colors, have fighting pits, keep your guild bank there, gain buffs for raids in a war room...the ideas are there for the daydreaming.
What do you think? Too grandiose of an idea or simply a stupid and useless feature that would "ruin teh gamez"? Thanks for giving it a read!
