Lvl 100 hunter talents
Return to board index
First off: Blizzcon wow! For those not there get a virtual ticket!
I've mained a hunter since wrath and they've come so far from volley and mana, but I have to say these level 100 talents have me excited! (Ive frequented forums for years but generally just reading, so not sure how to link)
Bola shot (replaces arcane shot, causes aoe fire damage around target)
Snipe (replaces steady/cobra shot decent damage and 60 focus regen, still refreshes serpent sting)
With or without you (bm - gives your pets abilities from every pet spec) (non-bm get's 30% dps without pet out)
Viable to change but here's my take on what we have atm.
(Some background on me: I've exclusively played BM with few exceptions in raiding as surv during some periods)
Bola shot- seems great all around, effectively turning your arcane shot into a cheap multishot, great for trash pulls, pretty wasteful on single target. Great for big pulls or soloing old content.
Snipe sounds like a nice boost, but the one thing that really kills it to me- no moving /sigh some scenarios that's fine, but I like hunter mobility.
With or without you. THE easy choice, flat dps boost for specs not needing pets (but they lose pet buff/debuff) and bm soloing gets a nice pet buff. If anybody felt bm pets were weak, won't feel that way anymore, now your pet can tank and put out dps and move around in any spec. Ill admit as BM I'm very excited about this.
Curious to see what other hunters think :)
hope the with or without you, is up too par enough that its viable choice for raiding cause i like the idea of going without a pet as a ranger on my SV/MM hunter.
Another change in change out group of choices .
For fight X go this one for fight Y go that one for fight Z use this one .
Love the new talent trees and the adaptability of the choices .
I'm pretty stoked about wowy, and to think of all the scoffing at the idea.
From a pvp stand point I'm not very excited about the new talents. Bola shot won't do any good in arenas unless there is a glyph that takes the aoe off. In bgs it'll be cool. Snipe is useless for arenas aswell. With or without you has potential. Once we can play with the numbers we'll see. Not sure if the lack of pet cc is worth it yet clearly.
at least now maybe it'll be a little harder for people to kill hunter pets(If BM), not fair how hard it is to kill lock pets.
The issue with snipe isn't the stand still to me, that can be worked around and hunters did work around that for a long time with cobra/steady, the issue is that it is a 2.77 second cast that generates 60 focus. Including passive focus regen you are looking at generating 70-75 focus during its cast which means to avoid capping you will need to be really low on focus. You will also bump into situations where you have 10 focus more than your spec shot that comes off cd in 2 seconds so your choice is to arcane shot and delay it while you generate focus, snipe and delay it because of the cast and probably cap focus, or do nothing for that 2 second window. The damage gain by snipe is going to have to be pretty massive to compensate for the focus capping and shot delays that will inevitably occur with the talent. On paper and perfectly played it might be nice but few will be able to do it, myself included most likely.
Bola looks interesting and will probably be the default pvp choice for anyone who isn't BM unless the pet utility spells are also transferred out. Losing masters call, roar of sacrifice, and usually some type of cc depending on family of pet is a pretty big loss. Also interested in how pet talents like blink strikes will interact with this.
A somewhat lackluster tier that doesn't really excite me nearly as much as some other 100 talents but if fleshed out correctly it could lead to some fun choices on fights though usually between bola and wowy.
