blizzard should make skinning, mining and herb a secondary skill like cooking or like archaeology it dose not take up a profession spot but you still have to train and learn it so it would be easy to have double crafting professions on a character .
pros :
more ore. herbs and skins in the ah
less over priced ore skins and herbs
more gold income since you can have all three gathering professions
less farming
cons:
less over priced items
more leveled playing field
more farmers
if you can think of any more pros/cons plz add on

I think it would take what fun there is in the "find and mine" minigame out of it. It would be just one step short of just showing up at the mat depot and picking up however much you need. Having to "train and learn" mining/herb/skin isn't really an obstacle.
I also would take "more gold income" out of the pros. And "more ore, herbs, and skins" in the AH. People would be more likely to just get their own mats. And I think that's already fairly high probability. If someone has a handful of toons at 90, then they already have most or all of the professions covered. And if everyone had mining/herbing/skinning on even their first toon to 90, then that's going to severely cut down on people buying mats. In your model, someone could just fill up on whichever toon they were on while waiting in a queue.
I'm sorry to be such a Debbie Downer, but I don't think there's really a problem here. I think there's other problems with professions (so many BoP mats, epic patterns through discovery), but not this.

There is not much of a need for all toons to have mining/hebs/skinning there are mobs out there like Zandalari Warscouts that drop bags that contain herbs/ore/leather. your gold per hour would be way lower if everyone had the profession to the point mining/skinning/herbs end up losing you money.

There may have been worse ideas posted on this forum but this one is right up there with the baddest ones of all time.
You seem to want all mats to be cheap. Or perhaps you just can't stand passing by a node or a dead animal and not be able to harvest it. Whatever the reason your solution would crater the marketplace and drive people who depend on gathering as their main income stream out of the game. No.

i never said i want cheaper mats the main problem that i have seen is that people are being stupid in the ah and throwing mats in the ah for more then they should be worth. i was looking at it as that it would be easier to have multi crafting professions like blacksmith/engineer or blacksmith/jewel crafting or alchemist/ inscription it also would help the people who don't dedicate there lives to playing wow and don't have the time to level another character just to level another profession. the realms i play on everything is over priced and i felt that if everyone could farm there own mats the gold buying fools would take a hit and not over price the easy to farm mats . i just posted the idea for constructive criticism not to get some one ripping me a new one cause i had the guts to speak my mind

I didn't, i gave you a viable suggestion as to how to fix your situation. Roll an alt and use it for gathering skills.
Don't have time to fully level? roll a dk and start at 55. leveling has been adjusted down so much it is really easy to lvl even with little time to play.

im not trying to run the gathering players out of the game i am trying to level the playing field so you don't have some one spamming the ah with overpriced mats that take no time to farm .i will agree that my idea might hurt the marketplace but the realms i have played on need the overhaul
to end this off there was no reason to say "There may have been worse ideas posted on this forum but this one is right up there with the baddest ones of all time. " i was just speaking my mind and had the guts to post it there was no reason to be a jerk and say that i don't know that you have read in the forums but i now see why i was warned never to post in the forums ! cause there is always someone that has to shoot you down thank you

I do not understand your concept of "take no time to farm". I took some time yesterday to farm
Fool's Cap
as my inscriptionist needed inks to create shoulder enchants for my banking alt. I spent most of the 3 and a half hours during the time I was watching the Nascar Sprint Cup race running my route in
Dread Wastes
. Over that time, I gathered about 300
Fool's Cap
, some
Green Tea Leaf
and a few
Golden Lotus
. Yes, I was doing this while doing another thing, but I did spend time in game and if I were to put them in the AH, I expect a reasonable return on my investment of time and it is a marketplace where each realm has its own economy. If you consider that no time, I do not understand your concept of time.
I know that when I work third shift, from home, being a tech support person, I get few calls during that time period and I spend most of my time farming herbs and ores for my crafting toons and sometimes put those up on the AH, but mostly reserve it all for my own crafting.
