Floating Damage Font and Size
Return to board index
So I've found an addon to change the font. that's fine n all... but the size is still too big.... I just want them smaller so I can still see what Im hitting
Is it possible to make the font size smaller, or will I need a small font type?
Maybe switch to a SCT addon altogether? MSCT, Parrot, etc...
Yeah, might have to if there's no work around.
I like seeing the numbers. but dont really like SCT.
Well I can really recommend Parrot :)
If you're talking about the damage font that shows up oriented above the head of the thing that took the damage, that's done natively by the game. It can be turned off and replaced by a scrolling combat text addon, but not replicated in addon space.
As for the size... I'm not sure.
I tried changing the font used for the above head damage text, but it seems like it was automatically enlarged and got pixelated.
Yeah. It's been like this ... perhaps for as long as the game has been out? I'm not sure.
The maximum point size for fonts is enforced by some of the UI code to be 25. (I've read that the value of the maximum scales with the UI Scale setting, but I don't use that.) Beyond 25, the game's font renderer doesn't do a very good job; in fact, I think it just starts with the largest size and then increases it by raster scaling. The cool thing? Blizzard's floating damage/healing text can end up displaying larger than the maximum and so it gets distorted. I think it's often most noticeable on
, but it's present in all of the floating text, it seems.
This time, I did find an interesting idea. Since all you can do is change the font and not the size of that font, you can modify the font itself to reduce the actual proportions of the letters.
I saw a few threads about that idea; that's just the last one I had open. I'm not sure which method of doing that is best.
Well the results of editing the font file (using the program in that thread
and editting the EM Metric from 1000 to 2000) was this.
Anyway, good luck with your drake farming! Are you aware it can drop on normal as well, not just on heroic?
Yeah, I do both difficulties. I read somewhere heroic has a slightly improved drop rate chance, either way it's no issue doing heroic at all. takes like an extra minute.
Just hope this thread helps someone who has the same issue (or annoyance, would be another word) of having too many numbers on the screen.
What would be good actually, if its possible to only show damage (above head damage) from certain spells/abilities.
Because I only need to see damage from specific abilties (mainly Thrash and Swipe, and Double Maul) above the actual enemy.
Anything else I am happily fine with it showing on the SCT.
I just don't think it's configurable in pretty much any way. Sorry
