Within a day of it happening, the Cenarion Circle knew they had been robbed. Within two, they had posted a bounty on nearly every board in Azeroth detailing as much as they dared reveal.
Wanted!
Reward
10,000 Gold
Attention adventurers!
In spring of the year ____ of the new calendar, several individuals broke into the Cenarion Circle’s vaults in Moonglade and stole an item. The circle is offering a reward of 10,000 gold pieces and the gratitude of the Circle for the return of this item, intact and unopened. Description to follow!
A box made of wood on the outside, one foot (thirty point forty eight centimeters) by one foot (thirty point four eight centimeters). On the lid is marked the emblem of the Cenarion Circle, depicting a leaf with white antlers sprouting from it. The box is covered in designs of blooming tulips flowing about runes and enchantments, the specifics of which need not concern the individual returning it. Their purpose is solely to keep the box sealed. An infinitesimal crack is on the side left of the emblem and running along one of the flower stems. On the seam of the lid there are four separate locks on each side. It is not advised anyone attempts to unlock these.
Those who were hired were provided with a simple device to assist in tracking the box: a tin bird made to appear at rest, nearly as small as a man’s fist, and with a copper beak that could be opened via a small push trigger on the back of the head. The bird, when its beak was open, would chirp in increasing frequency and volume when it was on the trail and growing closer to the box. The reasons for this, and nature of such of a device being in the hands of the druidic Cenarion Circle, were not explained. Only the necessity of finding what was lost.
By the third day, hundreds of bounty hunters were scouring Azeroth for this box and those who held it. Some even went the extra step, and began to eliminate their competition. Whoever retrieved it would find riches and, perhaps even more valuable, the gratitude of an organizations marked among the strongest in all Azeroth and beyond. But, perhaps even more enticing, were those who pursued the box with their own agendas in mind for its contents. Agents fielded from Horde and Alliance, SI7, cultists, private bounty hunters and spies, all after this Pandora’s Box from the depths of the Cenarion Circle’s hold.
The chase was on.
All questions, comment and otherwise to be addressed to the Open Q&A.
The current title is a placeholder until something better occurs to me.

Character:
Arianas Hawkeye
Location:
Felwood
Felwood always had a certain stench about it. No matter where you were, it suffused the air and earth like a stain soaking into everything. There was no specific odour one could place. It just smelled…tainted. Arianas ignored it as best she could, but it wasn’t exactly something easy to do. Fortunately, at the moment, she had other things on her mind.
She took the stairs two at a time and threw herself into the second floor of the decrepit old home. There she paused, looking at the other residents in the room with glowing yellow eyes, one hand poised on the banister of the stairs and the other tightly griping a rolled piece of parchment. Sweat beaded her purple skin as she stared over a loose, sleeveless and stiff buckskin shirt whose high collar just reached over her nose. Her toned midriff was bared to the air revealing a single belly piercing, just below reached her fitting pant of the same, dry brown deer hide as her shirt. Two daggers were thrust into her belt, and swayed with her every movement.
She coughed slightly, and stepped into the middle of the room. “So guys?” she addressed, walking up to a table and slapping the wanted poster on it. “Just thinking out loud here. But we might have a little bit of a problem.”

John paused his usual pastime of cleaning one of his innumerable firearms and bladed weapons - this once, the armament in question was a wrist-mounted dart-thrower - and raised his head as Arianas began to speak. He brought his leather-encased finger to one of the spikes jutting out of his large, round opaque goggles that, along with a wide-brimmed leather hat and a checkered black-and-white scarf covered his face completely and peered at the poster.
"We all have known this. Was coming sooner or later I. For one have been expecting. It to show up yesterday," the gaunt bounty hunter intoned, his voice as ever restrained and rustling. He dropped the dart-thrower into one of his seemingly bottomless pockets and stood up, the flaps of his heavy, reinforced leather long coat swishing along the poorly-made wooden floor; the human's clothing left exactly zero skin to the open air, contrasting sharply with the revealing garb of his elven companion.
"This is a helpful reminder we. Have outstayed our welcome. Here in Felwood any. Helpful contribution to our. Choice of the next. Checkpoint anyone?"

"Anywhere besides here is fine with me," a soft, rich voice intoned. The speaker was a dwarf, with short brown hair and a neatly trimmed brown beard. He wore an immaculate three piece suit (black), and overcoat (also black), despite the heat and humidity. "I would rather leave Kalimdor as soon as possible, however. The Circle will have fewer agents the further east we go."

Sarrin Dawnlight
The Barrens
The red-blond elf sniffed the dry Barrens air and smiled contently. He looked down. In his open palm a small avian figurine rested, chirping calmly in the setting sunlight.
Sarrin continued his journey though the desert; the scales on his light armour of red, gold and black rustling quietly with his steps.

Aetius Necitore, Zelia Shadowsun
Somewhere Underground, Eastern Plaguelands
"So, Mentor, the gold or the item?" Zelia let these words out as she placed her hands on the shoulders of the master assassin. "We will see. First, let's head out and get it. If I decide it is worth keeping, I'll send it to Robblast in Northrend. Our nerubian friends should be able to open it. If the artifact is valuable enough, the hostility of the Cenarion Circle might be worth it. In addition, they don't need to find out that we got it, right?"
Aetius let a small laugh go out of his mouth, before continuing: "Get the Felwood maps, and ready the mounts. We go to Brill, and from there a zeppelin to Orgrimmar. A week tops on traveling, then a couple days to snatch the item. Bad thieves let the owner discover that the item was stolen." Zelia smiled, before bowing and leaving the room.

Theresa Oakes
Booty Bay
As far as secluded corners go, the busy tavern in Booty Bay had some of the best on Azeroth. In one of these sat a weathered woman with dark-blonde hair and clear, grey-blue eyes.
She vented frustration by carving meaningless symbols into the table in between chugs from her pint; the knife was old and plain but sharp as a razor due to constant care. The room she had kept she could no longer afford, and the brown ale in front of her (the latest of many) was sure to make her feel sick.
Upstairs by the bed she had called home for the past not-sure-how-many months her only two companions rested: a worn rapier and a rifle which had fired so many shots the next might blow the whole thing - operator included - to pieces.
"Time to get a hold of your life now, Tess," she muttered to herself and dislodged a big splint from the table, with which she tiredly picked her teeth clean of an imaginary meal. In the corner of her eye she saw an aproned goblin approach, without doubt coming to collect what she owed for the numerous drinks. "#$%^ me."
The waiter rubbed his thumb and index finger together in an unmistakable sign. Theresa gave him the death glare as she slid a coin over the table, resting her other hand on the hilt of the now idle dagger. The goblin habitually bit the coin to ensure its authenticity before grinning superiorly and walking away.
"I'll gut you, you smug little bastard," she spat under her breath and rose from her seat, supporting herself on the edge of the table before regaining balance and sheathing the knife. With surprising stability and unwavering determination she walked the gauntlet from her corner to the staircase, going to collect her few belongings. Just a few minutes later she stood in front of the inn, rifle over her shoulder and sword at the side, and looked at the sun setting over the endless ocean.
What a &*!@ing time to grab your collar. At least I won't freeze to death in this blasted heat.

"Yeaaaaah..." Arianas shifted in her soft shoes awkwardly. "On that topic, I didn't go to town to get this. It was just kind of on a bulletin board. I also got this." Producing a small three legged stand, she placed it on the desk, followed by a crystal ball which perched upon it daintily. She took a step back and tapped the orb.
The crystal ball glowed in a soft light which rose upwards like an aurora borealis. Instead of the unparalleled colours of the north they were treated to a much less distinguishing sight of a balding man with thick jowls and glinting eyes like a pair of obsidian stones.
"Good evening men," Poldous Wollock greeted with a forced effort at amiability. "The first question I have for you is, do you have the item?"
Character:
Felicity Brighthammer
Location:
Rut'Theran Village
The young woman brushed her brilliant blonde hair past her eye and back over her shoulder, only for the cold sea wind to flick it once more into her face. With a sigh she gave up. Maybe when she got to the inn she could tie it back, was her thought as she cast a look back to the vanishing vessel that has brought her to this distant shore of Teldrassil's gnarled roots.
She frowned. Not on that vessel, she mused with uncharacteristic ire, for she knew that him being present there would have been a slim chance at best. Yet she still felt the pangs of annoyance, if only for hoping he would have been.
It was no matter, Felicity reminded herself with a shake of her head, further mussing her hair. This quest was her best chance at finding him, which was the very same reason why she had taken it on her own without telling anyone. She glanced down to her gauntleted hand at the reminder, palm turned up and a delicate metal bird perched within. With a careful finger, she poked the trigger on the bird's back, popping the beak open. Not a sound came forth.
Felicity knit her brows a faction. Carefully plopping it back into a satchel, she gripped the reigns of her steed and patted it on the back of its armoured head. "Must be on the mainland, old boy. Come on," she said, turning the warhorse towards an inn, the great tree of Teldrassil rising in the distance like a wild brown and green mountain. "Maybe we can find some help there."
Character:
Varyn Brighthammer
Location:
Barrens, Ratchet
Varyn's white hair jerked back with his head as a wanted notice was suddenly thrust beneath his nose. Blue eyes blinked owlishly as he looked at the missive, carefully plucking it from the fingers of black metal that presented it. "What's this?" he asked, peering up at the bearer of such news.
Mordecai towered over the small inn's table silently. The giant of a man always seemed cramped no matter where he went. Even in an inn that was made to accommodate the stately height of trolls and tauren he still occasionally brushed the lower beams that held the roof upright with his skull faced helmet, carved like the rest of his armour like some strange black facsimile of a human skeletal system. The smoke from a few tables down curled around the death knight's broad shoulders like wispy clouds on a mountain, and the thick conversation of the other tables didn't faze him a hair.
The death knight's eyes, glowing blue with undeath, urged the mage to read. Varyn shrugged his grey robed shoulders and did so. After a minute he looked up at the death knight again. "The Cenarion Circle? It, well...does seem a noble cause of course. But, no offence Mordecai, it doesn't seem like the type of people you'd choose to help."
If Varyn expected a reply, he got none. The mage sighed and sipped from a glass of conjured water. He swished the water about his mouth thoughtfully, then swallowed. "Well...I suppose it is something worth doing, at the very least." He looked back to the pamphlet. "Some things are put in a vault for a reason, after all."

"Good evening to you as well. Mister Wollock that is correct. We do indeed have the item," the bounty hunter said with a polite tip of his hat at the crystal ball. He held up the casket for their employer to see and added, "The Cenarion Circle have. Provided a rather accurate description. Of our mark do you have. Objections to neutralizing competition. However we deem necessary. Mister Wollock?"

The beady eyes of the man shone with an eager light. He smiled brilliantly at the box, only moments later to shake his head and turn to Cassidy. "What? Er-oh! Yes. No, no I have no objections to that. Haha. No. So long as you can deliver the box, I'll be happy. I believe it might be a bit prudent to try and keep a low profile, however. The Circle didn't manage to provide a description of you three, but if you start leaving a trail of bodies I think they might manage to catch on."

Just when the elven ranger got 12 meters out of the goblin town she heard the rumbling of a stomach that have yet tasted a breakfast. Given how far she got out of the town Ilthadris turned on the reigns and the hawkstrider rode back to the tavern.
A short moment later the ranger rushed into the crowded with newly woken folk. Ilthadris oderd a sandwitch and a glass of milk. The elf paied the goblin the precise amount without a tip and then walked over to the closest and the only free spot in the inn, next to a hulk of a man death knight and a human.
((Thats you money))
When she got closer she noticed a most familiar piece of paper in the possesion of the man.Ilthadris sat down on the free chair.
"Are you looking for the druid box too?" She asked before taking a bite of her sammich and then a mouthfull of milk.

Aetius Necitore, Zelia Shadowsun
Orgrimmar
The duo arrived at a rather fast speed to Orgrimmar after "asking" a mage they found on their way to Brill, to make a portal to the Horde's capitcal city. Aetius, after talking with a member of the Order and giving him specific orders, went with Zelia to the flightmaster, and the pair took a flight to Splintertree post.
Aetius would generally have taken a flight that took him directly to Felwood, but the possibility of deciding to steal the box instead made him consider taking a flight to a Horde outpost in Ashenvale and sneaking their way through the forest.

The crack of a rifle resounded through the dusty, hot grassland air. With a shriek that sounded almost human, a gazelle's sprint turned into a tumble, leaving it on the ground with a neat hole between the eyes. "Hardly worth the effort," the hunter commented, shouldering his rifle and peering down at the corpse. "One can hardly find any sport when the things you hunt can barely think."

The speaker approached the dying gazelle (which by all rights should already have died), which got one look at its killer: a human male in what seemed to be his late fifties, with sleek grey mutton chops and steely blue eyes. A pith helmet was firmly set on his head, and he wore a tan peacoat over a white shirt and blue tie. By all accounts, the quintessential gentleman adventurer.
He bent over the gazelle, watching it breathe its last, then took a look at the paper in the bag on his belt. "At least these fellows might offer a bit more sport."
