Conflicted( Class Picking )
Return to board index
So I am stuck between Warlock, Boomkin, Ele Shammy, and Shadow Priest. I want to know how fun each class is and how viable a class is in a raid group. Thank You :D
Having played all of these, I've found the Druid slightly more fun mostly because I like tanking once in a while and so enjoy having the option to just respec and do it in addition to my usual two specs of dps/healing; that being said, I have an elemental shaman at 89 that I'm also having a lot of fun with.
These specs since i want a ranged dps. I have a tank and melee dps, so i want one for ranged. An explanation of why the class you've tried is fun would be great
Pick an hunter, those are the best.
anyway if it was me having too pick from all those i probally go for either warlock or elemental shaman.
both are lots of fun.
I have a demonology warlock and the fun parts are that seems to be a lot of nice things for warlocks lately, animations, cool effects (green fire), and the raiding armor sets looks very evil and cool. I had this warlock a long time so it is nice to see some attention to it. Seems there's a lot of slow casting spells and building up demonic power is slow but that gets better with better armor. Pets can tank for you if you need, and the warlock has a lot of health resources so survives really well. In a raid, well I have only done LFR with mine, and the leader complained about aoe damage I guess was at the wrong time, so you kind of have to watch it with aoe, which 2 of the demo spells are aoe that generate demonic power. Affliction is the flavor-of-the-month for highest warlock dps, but I like demo and metamorphasis, leaping forward, and the emphasis on demon pets. Also, if you ride your class mount you can get a minor glyph to ride across water.
The shadow priest has seen a lot of improvements as well. I haven't done much raiding, but do very well in heroic 5 mans. I think the spells are pretty simple, it feels a bit more active or springy than the warlock because of the mind flay filler spell. Angelic feather speed boost talent is fun. It's handy to be able to quest and heal yourself, levitate, and mind control.
I haven't played the others you are considering but witness ele shaman do great dps. And well, lightning, yeah. I forgot to add - I've had friends that rolled an ele sham just for the purpose of blowing people off the flag in eye of the storm. Certainly forbidden in pve, but great fun in pvp.
Thanks for all the input. I think im gonna level a ele shaman and a warlock and see which i like better. I just want to play ele shaman because later they get elemental overload, making them fire off spells like a machine gun. The warlock seems fun since they have 3 types of dpsing. Thanks guys
Frost Mage: Freakishly powerful freebie class,
They're 8.6% of the 2200+ population arena wise
while only being 3.6% of the total population and
their DPS is the highest in the game
. Generally a reliably FOTM spec.
Fire Mage: Focused more on DoTs and fire damage.
Arcane Mage: Themed around controlling their (Unstable) mana reserves, they can do alot of damage by burning rapidly or do sustained by keeping their mana up and using their mastery.
Balance Druid: Does mostly arcane damage and has a "Limit Break" styled ability where they get more powerful whenever they cast enough of one type of spell, "Sun" or "Moon"
Beastmastery Hunter: Less of a ranged class and more of a "Pet" class, BMs use various pets for buffs, and their pet is 50% of their dps, give or take.
Marksmanship Hunter: Focused more on shooting stuff, nuke-heavy and more like a caster than the other hunter specs.
Survival Hunter: Uses more elemental attacks through traps and arrows, Trick abilities more common than bland "Does X damage" attacks.
Demonology Warlock: Same as BM hunter, but with more survivability and a pet that you don't micromanage just as much.
Destruction Warlock: More nuke less DoT, fire damage-based and explosion-happy.
Affliction Warlock: Drops a crapton of DoT effects on target and works on keeping them up, direct damage is an afterthought in comparison.
Elemental Shaman: Err, Caster that shoots lightning? I really have no idea what a Shammy does, But hey, Your palpatine.
Shadow Priest; some combination of DoT and channeled or casted spells, face-melting.
Did i miss anyone?
^ I love you. So funny and insightful. Thanks a bunch i think ill be able to chose now :D
one last question. How is ele shammy pvp? i know each of the warlock's specs seem powerful in pvp. I'm stuck between those two since theyre both really fun and do massive dps
