Scroll Of Resurrection Question

My wow account is a standard edition and is currently inactive.
my brother just sent me a scroll of resurrection, but I cant accept it ( because im on a standard edition).
If I upgrade my account to cata, it wont give me any game time, so will I be able to use the SOR after I upgrade it?
Hi Kylar, without seeing the account it's difficult to say exactly what is prohibiting you from accepting the Scroll - however, generally speaking - the reason why an account would not be eligible is that it was active sometime after March 4th, 2012. Here's some general info about the

After March 5th, 2012, you are only able to accept one Scroll of Resurrection per eligible World of Warcraft license – if you have already accepted an invitation after March 5th, you will not be able to accept another for the same World of Warcraft license, but may accept invitations for other eligible World of Warcraft licenses.
That is what it says, and it also says,
To be eligible to receive a Scroll of Resurrection, your friend must have a full (non-Starter Edition) World of Warcraft license that was not active after March 4th, 2012. A license is considered active when it has game time, whether that time is a paid subscription or free game time.
So could it work do you think?
Hey Kylar - I'm not sure what's prohibiting it - in order to see what's going on, we'd need to directly be looking at the account. What I'd like you to do when you get a chance, is go ahead and
submit a ticket
letting us know that you're trying to accept the Scroll from the other account (name the email for that other account as well in the ticket). For these specific types of issues, it's easiest if you either live chat with us or call us directly - live chat is available during normal phone hours.
If for whatever reason after you contact us you're still having any difficulties or are not square on what's causing the hold up, go ahead and post your ticket ID# here so that I can take a peek and see what's going on.

But all I really wanted to know is:
My account right now is inactive and is a battle chest account,
the SOR states that if the account that wish's to use the SOR is a battle chest account it will not work.
I just wanted to know if I upgraded my account to cata ( which doesn't give me game time, so it will still be inactive ) will I then be able to use the SOR that was sent to me on my account.
Kylar, if the account was a Battle Chest previously before March 12, 2012 and there was no subscription or trial engaged on the account after that date, then you should be eligible. However, if the account was a trial on that date, and then sometime thereafter you upgraded to a Battle Chest - that gives the account 30 days which invalidates it from the promotion.
Hopefully that helps clear that up. Again, when we look right at the account we'll be able to see exactly what's going on.
