Shadow Priest 2v2 partner
Return to board index
Currently my friend and I are pvping on my MW monk and his mage. He is slowly getting a shadow priest to 90 so now I'm trying to decide what class would go best with shadow for 2v2.
I have a mage and rogue at 85 and since we casually play, I only have time to level one to 90. I've been doing some research and both seem viable with a shadow priest, however, he may decide to go disc and heal. Which of the 2 would be ideal for either spec?
Much of the following might be old news to you but since you didn't specify what kind of PvP you're doing as mw / mage I'll leave it here regardless.
Considering how messed up the 2v2 bracket is at the moment, I'd advise you to either go double dps or find yourself a third and go 3v3 in order to save yourself a huge amount of frustration. Case in point: perhaps half of my alt's 2v2 games at the moment at 1500-1600 rating matches me against people who are any or multiple of the following: last season gladiators in upgraded elite / tyrannical gear, 2000+ rated current season rbg players in upgraded malevolent / tyrannical gear, 2000+ rated current season 3v3 players in upgraded malevolent / tyrannical gear, arena masters or r12-r14 from last season rbgs.
I've played at 2200+ ratings in some previous seasons and my partner has been at least 2000+ but in 2v2 there is simply no way for us to reach any rating significantly higher than perhaps 1600 right now because of the gear gap (since we started doing arena this season having just broken 7250 points earned each yesterday for tyrannical weapons whereas many of our opponents had tyrannical weapons two weeks ago). And it will only get worse as the season progresses because of how conquest point cap scales with rating (we only play 2v2 and most of our opponents play at significantly higher ratings in 3v3 or rbgs) - if you're starting fresh you'll have an even worse time with it as you'll literally get thrown into people who are perhaps 50 average ilvl above you.
Mage is more forgiving than a rogue, so I'd advise you to go with that. Particularly since you'll be starting behind in gear. Speaking from experience there is simply no way you'll be able to do anything about a healer in current average gear with half a brain (make that a quarter) as a rogue without current season gear (daggers mainly - tyrannical weapons are a huge upgrade for any physical dps over anything but upgraded elite malevolent which you obviously don't have access to). And by the time you get them there's a good chance it won't be enough anymore.
